Our India Pale Ale packs typical IPA balls but strikes a better balance between dryness and drinkability. It’s every bit as rich but a little less bitter than other American interpretations of the breed, and here’s why. We are smarter, better looking brew masters. It also doesn’t hurt that we use 2 row barley with no goofy processing. And then we employ a 2 week dry hop process before we put it in the can, with love for you, our beer loving friends. There is no fish or fish flavor in Snapperhead. We chose this cartoon figure to represent the brand in a somewhat random marketing process we call ’non-sensical ideation’.

3.0Hazy golden color with foamy white head. Aroma biscuit malt and herbal hops. Flavor is biscuit malt start with mineral chewiness. Citrus and herbal hop finish.
3.3March madness 2015. Good every day IPA. Aroma is slightly lacking but the taste is well balanced.
3.6March Madness 2015 - Nice amber color ; nice hop flavor without the bitterness...although the finish is a little bitter. Lighter than the alcohol content would suggest.
3.0A light, citrusy IPA that comes off watery and not very hoppy. An ok daily beer, but don't pick it up thinking its a traditional IPA.
2.9From a can, gift from Maxbier. Pretty decent IPA, good for a daily beer actually.
3.3Can. Dark golden color with big white head. Light citrus pine aroma. Flavor is citrus and some tropical flavors. Pine bitterness medium malt. Pine finish.
3.0Can. Pours a cleanish copper colour, fluffy white head, lots of lacing. Nose isA-typical to style. Tastes a little bitter, a base maltiness, transitions back to the hops.
3.4Pours a slightly hazy copper color With a nice frothy head. Aroma is citrucy hops and some grapefruit. Medium mouth feel. Pretty standard ipa but it’s good so why such a low score?
2.0Little aroma. Hint of ginger. Watery.
Looks good. Off orange. Very nice head.
Taste is meh. Hops are full but present. Fade terribly.malty. super malty. This ain’t no ipa.
Palate is supernheavy but watery at the same time. Hops fade poorly.
Overall not a terrible beer but terrible for the style. This is more like a pale ale. Even so the flavors are muddled. This is what I was talking about with the blood bath. Beers like these just won’t survive.
3.3Hazy orange color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, hops and toasted malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of zesty citrus, hops and bready malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a short hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.
2.6Aromas of grainy and bready malts, hops are pretty subdued. Murky amber-brown with a mostly lasting small, off-white head. Balanced but not offering a whole lot of complexity. Light-medium bodied.
3.6Can. First of all, in this world of a million IPAs, this one is truly unique....in a good way. Yes, the hops are there, it is well balanced and IT ISN’T SO FREAKIN’ BITTER THAT IT MAKES YOUR EYES WATER!!! Great job Butternuts.
3.5a nice beer with a good hop kick quite fruity and overall a nice beer one to try for sure
1.7Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was basically a hazy orange color with a slight transparency about it. There’s a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some light lacing sliding right on into the beer.
The smell had mainly some burnt caramel malts with a subdued breadiness of sorts. There was some light piney hops that mainly stayed in the background.
The taste was mainly sweet through the caramel malts.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a sessionability that wanted to try to show but those malts, hmmm...we’ll it seems there’s just too many in the way.
Overall, this is an IPA? Says who? There’s barely any hops in this thing. Another beer by Butternuts that is unimpressive.
2.7Mild grassy hop aroma, pours a hazy amber with a full white head. Some caramel sweetness, and very little hop bitterness. Full bodied, with medium carbonation. Overall, this is a failure of an IPA. This is a malt heavy IPA, far away from balanced.
2.8Smells almost like a macro-brew, with basement aromas - not a good sign. The flavor is alright, although it doesn’t taste like an IPA, it is more like a pils. I agree with the previous reviewer who picked up "musty grain". Low bitterness and not much citrus flavor. There are some hops in there, but I would describe them mostly as grassy with a little spruce. Some caramel malt, giving it decent balance. In terms of palate it is similar to an amber ale.
THERE IS NO FISH OR FISH FLAVOR IN SNAPPERHEAD
1.6(Secret Krampus can from UDBeernut) Pours a semi-hazy orange color with a thin white head and a bit of lacing. Well, it certainly looks the part anyways. The aroma, however, quickly dispels the notion that this is a quality IPA, or even an IPA for that matter. Aroma is soured grain, and it smells like a sour. If there are hops in here, I’d be hard pressed to smell them. Other than the sourness there’s really not much else going on. Flavor is just a hit of musty grain, slight breakfast cereal, and a finish of crushed vitamins that lingers well after drinking. Again, not detecting any hops here. Mouthfeel is surprisingly full however, but the carb is a bit too fizzy. Overall this is definitely worthy of the Krampus designation. Thanks Art!
2.7Pours hazy amber with an off white head. Aroma is light citrus and caramel. Taste is sweeter and not very bitter at all. Medium bodied, smooth. Just not an IPA.
2.912oz can for Krampus via Boostipa. First off the can confuses me an "all malt" IPA which also states "farmhouse ale." What the hell is this supposed to be? Pours a hazy orange/copper with a large white head. Aroma of simple malts and rotten oranges with some scotch tape, was expecting worse. Very malt forward with a slight hop spice, like eating Cheerios with a bit of hop extract. It’s not horrible, certainly not very good, smells like trash but it’s drinkable I suppose.
3.0Can. Pours orange gold with bone white head. Nose and taste of citrus, caramel malt and orange pith. Some grain. Lighter medium body.
3.4Can sampled at Beer Temple. Pours hazy orange with a white head. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, fresh, with a little malt. Flavour is light moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
3.312oz can. Rating #319. Hazy orangish/yellow color with a white head. Light pine with a bit of grapefruit and sweet malts. Mild bitterness, more citrus and a mild finish. (2876)
3.2Cloudy amber pour with a white frothy head. Aroma of citrus, caramel, and toasted malt. Citrus flavor with caramel and biscuit. Very little hop bite at the end. Very malty IPA.
3.312oz can, shared by Caterwaul. Hazy orange color. Thin white head. Good spread of lace. Smooth, lightly crisp lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Good orange citrus flavor. Zesty, moderate bitter, moderate sweet taste too, though. More of a biscuity malt than caramel malt profile, does some good for me. Better than expected, especially for a can that’s likely 4-6+ months old.
2.712 Fl. Oz. Can. Poured clear, golden decent amount of white head that leaves nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is malty, not really IPA like (in my opinion), some yeast and minimal hops. Nice carbonation, light bodied. Taste of malts (sweet) some hops in there too (but not a lot). A very mild version of an IPA perhaps? Anyhow drinkable, OK beer.
2.8Can. Poured pale with a frothy off-white head that left some lasting and good lacing. Subdue aromas. The flavor found floral hops, bready, and light caramel. Light body.
2.5Can. Has a bit of a good initial spice hop taste, but too much malt kicks in and has a bit of a negative aftertaste
2.812 oz can The IPA poured a hazy gold with a small head that dissapated to an off white collar. There was lacing down the glass. The aroma was hard to detect maybe some malt and citrus. Their brewing process somehow takes the bitterness and fun out of the IPA. If you want mild this is your IPA. The body was medium with average carbonation. The finish was uninspiring yet there was some bitterness in the upper mouth.
3.1It's a session able ipa with moderate malt balance. Very serviceable, and the price is good. People hate, but if you're looking for a beer to drink and socialize, couldn't go wrong with it.
4.3Wow. I’m really surprised at all of these negative ratings. The style says IPA, but it’s a malt-base IPA. Gorgeous milk tea taste. Pours slightly cloudy dark gold with white head. Aroma- milk tea and light chocolate. Defies IPA- definite milk tea light, heavy, then light with floral and earthy hops. Finish is chocolate milk (or bubble tea) with long but subtle floral and earth. Beautiful.
