3.3 bottle, year ago. Easy drinkable, not too sweet or hoppy. Like some English strong ale with fruity esters. Hops reminded EKG, slightly strawish. Medium to full body. Nice and simple.
3.7 11th September 2016 Hazy amber beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and slightly viscous, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth caramel malts, not that sweet. A little soft malt cream. Marmalade - bitterish. A vague savoury note. Smooth finish. Nice. Remember this being better fresh though.
3.8 2 years aged. Hazy burnt orange hue under a thin sticky Rocky ivory head. Lovely stone fruity nose with a touch of English toffee, a little kiss of nougat and light booze. Boozy and big flavor that has a little nutty caramalt, a little nougat, light stone fruit, English pale malt, copper malt, and a earthy leafy bitterness that’s almost overshadowed by the booze heat.

4.0 Bottle @ Six Roses, Lille - FR. Color: dark amber beer with small carbonation and small ivory head. Smell: caramel, malt and high toffee domination. Alcool notes. Taste: full body with caramel malt, toffee exposition, caramel and brown sugar. Really sweet and full caramel taste. Good attenuation. Finish alcohol. Aftertaste: caramel and toffee, alcohol.
3.7 Draft at Craft. Clear reddish amber. Aroma of pine resin. Taste is bittersweet caramel. Easily the hoppiest barleywine on the planet. Like a DIPA.
4.0 Aggressive candied grapefruit hops with a deep malty undertone. Bitter and sweet, aggressive but smooth and tasty too.
3.6 12 ounce bottle. Cloudy brown with a beige head of one finger. A sweet dark fruit aroma that smells a little like candy. Alcohol is tasted immediately. As is complex fruit and very rich malts. Raisins and prunes. Light bitterness and some toffee. Then oranges. Very good except for being so hot.
3.5 33cl bottle from the Eebria. It pours a clean rich orange color with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of burnt sugar toffee biscuit raisins and light alcohol. Taste is also sweet with more notes of caramel toffee raisins persimmon and alchicol. The alcohol in the finish gives it a cleansing bitterness in the finish. Full bodied with OK carbonation. Overall, tasty
3.3 On bottle from Vinmonopolet Sandefjord summer 2015, left from release October 2014- bb 2024. Golden color, good foam. Medium/high aroma intensity; caramel, hops- distinct alcohol. Medium/full body ( high viscosity) and complexity. On the sweet side, too much taste of alcohol
3.5 Bottle purchased online and shared at Leighton’s. As ’Buxton / Evil Twin Anglo Mania’, 10.3%, bottled Oct 2014. Hazy rhubarb red, lightly sparkling, small foamy tan head. Aroma is rhubarb tart, spicy, coconut biscuit. Body is smooth with soft carbonation, a little foamy. Taste is spicy, toffee, resinous hops, dry boozy finish. Pretty decent for the style.

3.8 Bottle shared in W2 - big thanks to Daniel! Pours unclear, glowing gold with a frothy, off-white head. Ripening berries in the nose, some gummy berries, white grape, bread. Medium to heavy sweet flavour with rich, rounded ripe berry character, some more gummy grapes, berries, golden raisins, light piney bitterness, pale bread. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carboantion. Warming finish with lots more ripe fruits, orange, berries, melon, tangerine, gummies. Quite robust, but also nicely rounded and drinkable.

3.8 Bottle. It’s a hazy mahogany colored beer with a dense off white head. The aroma contains high malty and biscuity notes. Some floral and earthy hoppy notes. Hips and light peach. Sweet malty flavor with a spicy hoppy kick. Biscuity and caramel malty. Very true to the English style. Well made.
4.0 Bottle from alesella a deep orange a floral fruity carmel aroma flavour is sweet fruit rich carmel hint of honey hop bitterness is present but gives way to smooth sweet viscous mouthfeel on the finish
3.9 From notes (April 2015). Bought this on a whim at the Bier Cellar, but it didn’t disappoint. It’s a great example of the style, with a focus on the sweet, caramel fruitcake taste of an English Barleywine, with a little more hop presence to firm things up. Really tasty.
3.7 Denne Barley Wine har et klart brunt udseende med et medium hvidt skum. Øllen har en sød aroma og smager af karamel med noter af citrus og bitterhed. Medium karbonering.
3.9 Bottle. Pours murky copper. Aroma of honey, vanilla, boiled sweets and glacier cherry. Taste is sweet with some bitterness on the finish. Nice.
4.1 Bottle 33 cl. Bronze color. Aroma: dense, honey, malt and floral hops, candied fruits and raisins, sweet muscat wine. Taste: very sweet, true nectar, dessert wine, citrus, raisins, marmalade, candy, hop biterness. Very good.
3.5 12oz bottle from Superstar Beverage pours a mostly clear amber with some clingy white head. Nose has malt, orange, pine, plenty of port, booze, some candle wax, some baking spice. Flavor is a bit simple, sweet, boozy and bitter, mild spice, pine, port. Full bodied finish.
4.1 Pours a two-finger off-white head fades slowly leaving some lace. Cloudy amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Caramel nose, sweet malt, toffee and caramel flavor. Nice barleywine. Higher ABV is hidden. $7.60 for a 330ml bottle from Tullys Beer & Wine.
3.9 Un barley wine puissant à la robe ambrée, au nez sur le pain gris, le malt, la fourrure, les épcies et à la bouche puissante, riche, concentrée tout en restant hamonieuse et équiliibrée. Un monstre de concentration.
3.2 11.2 oz bottle. Pours very hazy amber gold with a smallish off white head that goes to a thin film and laces the glass. The aroma is sweet bready malt with dark fruit and some booze and cola. Kind of like a fruit cake. The flavor is sweet bready caramel malt with dark fruits and lots of hot booze and then a medium bitter finish that’s a bit medicinal. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation. Overall, a nice English barley wine. It’s like a sweet boozy fruit cake.
3.6 This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a hazy burnt orange to red color with no head and a slim light coat of lacing along the sides. The smell takes in the normal qualities of an English barleywine such as tobacco, vanilla, and subtle sweet fruits (ie apple, cherries, and plums). Light toast slides in for the balance. The taste is mostly sweet with the tobacco trying to make an effort to dry it out. Subtle sweet fruity semi-dry aftertaste and it doesn’t have a finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body. I don’t mind for me, that it’s a bit lighter than expected in body. Carbonation definitely has died off. Overall, for a bottle from 29/10/14 and at 10.3%, I’d say this was good for the most part given that it’s a single malt and single hop barleywine. Expectations were met.
3.5 Cloudy copper, offwhite froth. Aroma has hops, caramel and alcohol, light malt with fruity notes, perhaps marzipan. Boozy, malty flavour with hoppy bitterness, marzipan and caramel. Alcoholic, slightly sticky, and slightly harsh finish. Rough in a nice way. Ok I guess.
