4.0From backlog. Bottle shared with Bergstaden @ Gullkorn. Dark brown with beige head. Malts, hops, Caramel, Chocolate and pines.
3.4Robe noire, semble trouble.
4.02014 rating. Pours a freaking huge frothy brownish head and has a pretty dark brown appearance. Thick patchy lacing. Huge hoppy aromas right off the bat, citrusy hops, zesty and piney. Flavours are also citrus and herbal hops with notes of orange peel and coriander. Some subtle mild spices in the finish. Creamy and slick mouthfeel. Mild tingling sensation. Pretty darn good!
3.8330 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with moderate tannish head. Aromas of caramel, fruity pine and chocolate malts. Flavours follow same with resiny pine. A nice black IPA.
3.415/20 nice mix of bitterness and hops, good chewy taste, very smooth and big taste
3.6Bottle. Shared with Višnja 666 and Pilot Goran. Dark brown, ochre tint, small off-white head. Fruity, dried fruit, lightly roasty and caramel. Dry with light alcohol presence. Medium body, moderate carbonation, light dry finish. Nicely balanced.
3.5330ml bottle sampled on the 12 December 2017 at Café Source Too, Hillhead Sports Club, Glasgow. Dull black in colour with a thin buff head. Zesty citrus hop present on the long nose. Thin oily mouthfeel and no lacing. Dark malts give a light black toast background which is rather lost and forlorn against the strong pineapple, lemon and lime notes juicy in the mouth which easily shoulders aside the dark malt. Aftertaste is fresh and zesty with drier grapefruit pith coming through in the bitterness. Finish is again bitter with citric astringency gaining momentum but there is a vague hint of black coffee and ash lurking right at the end. A decent Black IPA.
4.9Great black IPA !
Chocolate and roasted aromas from malts with great hops.

3.8Bottle. Pours black with thin tan head. Strong roasted malt, dry hope, light grapefruit. Liquor finish. Soft/flat carbonation
4.1Very dark colored black IPA. Rosted malts and slight chocolate flavours :) a very well crafted beer!
4.9Nez chocolat, pin. Goût ipa + malt torréfié
3.2330ml bottle. Pours dark with thick beige head. Aroma roasted malt and chocolate. Taste hoppy bitter followed by strong coffee bitter.
3.9Drank 12-8-17 while writing. Nice beer. Quite soft. More stout-ish than Black IPA. Especially in the beginning it’s malty. Hops coming through in the end. Good.
4.1330ml bottle. Pours black with a thick beige head, decent retention. Aroma: citrus, fruity, roast malt. Taste: hoppy, citrus fruits, herbal, roast malt, pine, hint of chocolate, nicely balanced, nice bitterness. Medium body, smooth oily texture, moderate carbonation. What a great black IPA!
3.8Refrigerated 330 ml brown bottle, bottled April 25, 2017, poured into a glass from Leighton. Translucent black with small off-white head. Aroma is nice herbal hops, medium body, some carbonation, and pretty good small-bubble lacing. Taste is nice herbal hops, fruity dark malt, citrus hops, and a little evergreen hops. Not too heavy for me, really one of the best black IPAs I have had. Thanks Leighton!
4.2Bottle from Bridgend Services, Freuchie. Pours a very dark brown. Thin, off-white head that just about clings to the side as we go. Aroma has a powerful pine hit. Dank tropicality. Stone fruit aroma. Red berry jammy notes. Caramelised orange. Toasty aromas. Very light coffee and chocolate. Very well played. Taste has more red berry notes, both fresh and dried. Seville orange tang. A little citric and juicy lemon. Substantial bitterness. Long, bitter finish. Oily mouthfeel. Light roastiness at the end. Decent carbonation. Medium to full mouthfeel. Bench-marking gear here. Lovely!
3.8These are daft beers, aren’t they. Confusion at the outset as the cola / stout appearance yields to a piney, citrussy fruit salad. Then, if not done well, it’s a horrible clash of coffee and fruit. When done well, like here, the hops are fruity and dank and the roasted malt and chocolate provide a subtle backbone. Good body too.
3.9On tap at the Buxton Brewery taproom on 26-May-2017. Almost black with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt and cocao nibs. Full body and medium carbonation. Taste of malt, chocolate, molasses and hops. A lovely smooth bitter hoppy chocolatey finish. Pretty good Black IPA.
2.8Fairly opaque with a light head and good lacing. Low body and fairly carbonated. Outside of yer customary IPA hoppiness you’ve got some bitter black coffee flacors thrown in, a bit piney, a bit smokey. A solid refreshing BIPA but definitely not on a level of its own
2.9On tap @ Hanging Bat Edinburgh. Mild malty aroma and tastes of smoke, cigarettes, and saltine crackers. Somewhat watery for a black IPA.
4.0Bottle. Pours black. Aroma of roast malt and dark chocolate with some fruity hops. Moderate sweet and bitter. Oily with medium body. Very nice.
3.9Pours black with low tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, citrus. Taste is fairly rich bitter, citrus followed by coffee in the finish. Light and smooth body with soft carbonation.

4.0Bottle from Hanging Bat.
Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head.
Nose - wafts of canned oranges and apples on opening. A general expansion into fruit salad by the time the pour has finished. On closer inspection add some resin and molasses.
Taste - more fruit salad intermingled with molasses, dark chocolate and toffee. Marmalade. Lime taper on the finish.
Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish.
Overall - great stuff. A very narrow style to get right but this was nailed. First 4 of 2017.
4.3dark brown colour, moderate sized beige-ish head; aroma of cocoa powder, overripe tropical fruits, grapefruit, pine resins and grape seed; taste of dark chocolate, overripe tropical fruity sweetness, grapefruit, grassy and resiny notes and grape seed bitterness; great black IPA!
3.7It was a good, but a quite yeasty stout and I didn’t think much of it. Then I realised that it was well past its drink by date, which explains a lot. No taste of hops, some good dark malts, a bit of alcohol, but too much yeast.
3.6Аромат после отстоя пены. Кофе, карамель. Приемлемо, но плотности для "темного эля" мало.
3.8Olmost black with a light brownb head - Malt and fruity hop aroma - Malt body to support a good hoppy flavour that is fruity with good bitterness - the hops with bitterness goes into the finish - This was good
