4.5Bottle. Creamy lightbrown excellent fully lasting head. Black colour. Heav malty and hoppy aroma. Heavy bitter wonderfull flavor. Long great heavy bitter finish. Creamy palate. World class.
4.6Umami stout aroma. Starts off with a subtle caramel molasses malt sweetness and finishes with a prominent burnt tar bitterness. Aftertaste really sits on the palate! Rich creamy oily mouthfeel! Gentle carbonation.
4.0Bottle at my place thanks to Matt I think. Todd? Anyway, thanks. Pours a jet black hue with a small beige head. A big licorice and roast nose. Huge dark malts, licorice, some light ash, metallic roasted notes, a bit of char. Very smooth. Awesome beer. Rating number 9000! Quite a run it has been.
4.1Bottle enjoyed at home
Pours black like used engine oil, thick creamy dense dark brown head. Smellof cocoa, dark malts, roast, hints of coffee. Heavy sweet, alot of dark delicious malts, chocolate, dark fruits, roast, toast, complex and inviting. Medium bitter, chocolate tail. Very nice!
4.5Cellared bottle shared at home. Pours opaque black with small diminishing beige head. Medium to full body, oily mouthfeel, light carbonation, dry bitter-sweet finish with intense coffee aftertaste. Incredible aromas of roasted malts, dark chocolate, espresso coffee beans, hints of vanilla beans. Similar tastes on the tongue along with balancing citrus hops, molasses, plums, dried fruits. When time passes by, it gets better and better revealing its complexity. Mouthwatering, fully enjoyable!
3.9Draft at Bainbridge. Black pour with a slim amount of khaki foam. Very dark roasted malts. Bakers chocolate. Turkish coffee. Liquorice. Cocoa nibs. Molasses. Fainter notes of charcoal and vinyl. Silky body. Big and tasty. Solid - but not quite approaching the best Imperials.
3.9Robe noire mousse beige qui tient peu.
Arômes cafés et fumés puissants.
Goût café fumé chocolat fruits noirs
Amertume marquée relevant le chocolat en fin de bouche.
Texture sirupeuse.
Bonne bière.
3.5Dark pour, with very little head. Chocolate and coffee aroma. Reasonably thick mouthfeel. Flavours of milk chocolate, espresso, cocoa, dark fruits, hazelnut, brandy, tobacco and liquorice. Bitter aftertaste.
3.2Bottle at home 2016. That was just too much! It was very tasty and had an excellent mouth feel, but was dominated by a huge, strong coffee flavour. It meant that it was a bit one dimensional and it was so thick and strong in flavour that I struggled to finish the glass. I feel that it is a beer that needs a few years in the bottle to mature, perhaps calm down a bit and develop some secondary and tertiary flavours
3.7Tap at Ratebeer Best. Pours black with medium tan head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, wood, dark fruit. Medium body, roast, dark chocolate, licorice, bitter finish, very good.
4.02015 bottle poured into a brandy snifter. The beer is a thick dark brown to black with a khaki head of foam. Not much head retention. The aroma has rich dark bakers chocolate, toffee, nuts, caramel. Moderately ashy. Bitter and roasty throughout the taste. Huge body and thick mouthfeel. Low carbonation.
3.9From 339ml bottle. Roasty aroma, pours very dark chocolate colour with small tan head. Roasted malts and bitter chocolate in the taste. Complex palate, but the bitterness is a wee bit strong at times
3.9Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. Buxton potwierdza klasę, bardzo dobry RIS.

3.8From bottle, 2015 ed with 10%. acquired at The Hop Duvel. Pours a pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasty, hoppy, chocolate, light smoke, some licorice, tobacco, vanilla. Taste is sweet, slight salty, very hoppy, bitter and roasty. Still pretty smooth. Full body and an average to light carbonation.
3.9(Keg at OlutExpo 2016) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, liquorice and cocoa. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were dark chocolate, ash, burnt malts, liquorice, milk chocolate and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, burnt and bitter. A pleasant strong brew that hid its high ABV well.
4.0On tap at CBC Boston. Comes black with a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, malt, and coffee. Taste is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and some dark fruit. Alcohol very well hidden. Well made Imperial Stout. Delicious.
3.9330mL bottle from Slowbeer. Bottled 6JUL16
Seriously dark looking thing - pitch black with orange-brown head sitting atop.
Hops first up on the nose - spicy, citrus, pine - leading onto rich liqueur-like chocolate, charred/roasty malt, licorice, nuts, some woodiness.
Rich body, oily thick texture, low carbonation.
Inky, dark, brooding body, lots of blackened, charred, charcoal-y sort of malt going on; licorice, earthiness, touch of smoke even. Get a big hop character developing on the finish - lots of citrus, pine, leafiness, with a BIG lingering bitterness & boozy warmth really cuts through any richness left.
Really bloody good, yet it feels like it could be just that bit better....seems like a good one for the cellar!
4.7Opaque black beer with a sight brown/dark brown head. Medium/heavy aroma; taste starts heavy sweet and ends slightly bitter and dry. Chocolate, mocha, roasted malts and coffee. 8/5/10/5
4.1Pitch black, brown head almost two fingers
Huge chocolate and coffee aroma, marshmallows, oak
Taste: creamy, so much espresso, chocolate cake,
Loooooong aftertaste
4.211.2 oz. bottle purchased at 7 Eleven, Kittery, ME. November 2015 Vintage. Pitch black liquid with a low carbonation level. Great aroma of dark chocolate, roasted grain and mild cocoa powder.
The flavor is as rich as the aroma. Huge chocolate right upfront with a nice roasted malt backbone. The finish has a slight coffee or bitter dark chocolate to provide balance. Bitterness lingers slightly after the swallow. The body is on the fuller side with a smooth carbonation. Alcohol is mostly hidden. This has no adjuncts and is brewed as a classic imperial stout. Wonderful amount of flavor.
4.3Bottle from Hop Burn & Black, Dulwich. Opaque very dark brown to black, medium soft creamy brown to tan foam head. Nose is big, dark chocolatey, rich roasted malt, black coffee, caramel, dark dried fruits, Marmite, liquorice. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, leather, caramel, black sugar, very sweet black coffee. This is really sweet, rich and luscious.
3.4Courtesy of Jaghana. Couleur noire, très légère mousse. Nez malté grillé, café, chocolat avec un coté levures-fromage! Gout très amer malté, café, marc de café, grillé, chocolat noir, alcool. Corps huileux. Fin longue amère café . Pour moi trop lourde et amère...
3.6Bottle 33cl, a very dark and deep beer with medium copper head. Nose is on dark malt, mushroom, sweet dark chocolate. Aroma is on dark coffee, some acidity, mushroom notes, peppery touch, not creamy, not sure this bottle is normal as not that complex with infected like profile,
