Cairngorm Black Gold (Bottle)

Cairngorm Black Gold (Bottle)

Bottle - Pasteurised.

A Scottish stout with a wonderful rich dark colour. A smooth full bodied beer with subtle bitterness giving way to late sweetness and underlying roast barley hints.

3.8 Bottle. Black with a small head. Pleasant slightly sweet malty flavour although initially there was a hint of sulphur that soon faded. Close to being an excellent stout but in the end its just a very good one that is worth trying.
3.1 500ml bottle. Pours black i guess, small foamy tan head. Light on the palette with very light dark malt, cola, distant lactic notes and some interesting, light smoky woody tobacco notes emerging alongside a dry finish. Carbonation seems a little firmer than necessary though not off-putting. Nice, light milk stout.
3.2 Butelka 500ml. Czarny kolor . Piana beżowa, wysoka,o drobnych pęcherzykach, utrzymuje się w szkle. Aromat ciemnej czekolady, palonych słodów, kawy, laktozy i lekkiej kawy. W smaku laktoza spada na drugi plan ,pojawiają się za to nuty brykietu i popiołu. W tle czekolada ,kawa i lekka wedzonka. Trzyma poziom lecz nic więcej...
3.4 Bottle at Tap-house München. Dry herbal heather nose Medium light dry nose, pleasant toast, caramel nuts, medium light body, dry sugar on the palate, dark chreme brullee finish
3.6 Bottle from Sainsbury’s. pours almost black with a foamy bubbly tan head. Looks nice but I would liked the head form tighter. Aromas has lots of smooth chocolate tones. A dry grain, mild fruity floral, hazelnut praline and a little tar. The beer is nice and smooth for the medium body. A gentle carbonation makes for easy drinking. The flavours are stronger compared to the nose. A smooth roasted malt and a tart fruitiness that’s something like red grape juice but I can’t quite put my finger on. A smoky aftertaste a little like tar lingers gently. For the moderate abv I reckon this is an excellent stout. Smooth aromas and flavours and not too heavy bodied makes for a real sessionable stout. Nicely balanced.

3.6 Bottle in Inverness, Scotland. Pours dark, black with beige head. Aroma of malts and licorice. Rich in flavor, some malt, some roast, a faint idea of smoke and licorice. Very subtle bitterness in the palate. After all a very decent Stout.
3.7 Bottle. Backlog rating from bottle collection and historic scoring. Source not recorded. No tasting notes kept, just rating.
3.1 bottle on Loch Ness tour boat --- Aroma of dark malt. Taste is malt with strong carbonation that adds burlap and hay. It’s billed as a milk stout, but I can’t detect any lactose. Average overall. Obviously brewed for the masses.
3.4 Bottle many thx to wife for bringing home from Scotland cons 2017-05-05 Göteborg AR: roasted malt, bakers chocolate, lactose AP: black, cream beige lid F: roasted malt, wee smoke, chocolate, lactose, semi sweet, liqurice
3.0 Bottle, Tesco. Pours black with tan head. Head dissipates quickly. Aroma of roast barley. Taste is coffee, charcoal, sweet malt and a slight creaminess to it . Medium to thin body. OK, would have been better if it was on draft as I found it a bit thin for the style
3.5 Bottle@home. Pours black, tan head which went in seconds. Nose is coffee, vegetables, malty, uncooked steak. Taste is slight bitter coffee which turns into a sweetish aftertaste.
4.1 500ml bottle from Morrisons, which I picked up for £1 !!!!! Pours jet black as expected with a 2 finger tan head. Nutty sweet treackle malty creamy nose. Taste is really good; chocolate milky roasted nutty malt with a nice bitter finish. One of the nicest tasting stouts I’v had in a while, very thick mouth feel too for a 4.4 abv beer. Impressed will be buying more.
3.7 500ml bottle. Dark brown pour with a caramel head. Aroma of rich cinder toffee and roasted malt. Pale flavour of cinder toffee and syrupy treacle with cream, bolstered by a strong dark stout flavour.
3.7 Tap at Winking Owl in Aviemore. Black pour with thick foamy tan head. Malt and toffee at the front, smooth sweet malt finish. Very nice stout. Paired well with the meat pie!!!
Loisto-ostos!
3.4 50cl bottle from Marks & Spencer, Camberley. An opaque peaty brown pour with a large tan head; caramel aroma; quite lively with a smooth creamy texture that coats the mouth, dry with a taste of well roasted barley and some milky oats; then a nutty caramel finish. A solid and satisfying milky stout.
3.4 Pours a deep black with a slight redness to it. Large frothy head that lasts well. Aroma is roasted malts with some caramel and hints of coffee. Flavour has the malts with some chocolate notes.
3.2 en har en krafig luft, smagen har lidt fylde og en en del lakrids, den skulle være brygget på kildevand.
3.5 Pours black with a decent head. Mild treacle aroma. Slight bitter taste with mild malty taste and a hint of coffee. Little fizz. (K)
3.8 500 ml bottle, from Matkroken Stokka. BB date 28. April 2014. ABV is 4.4%. Black colour, moderate but lasting tan head. Sweetish malty and lightly roasty aroma, more malts and caramel than coffee, also notes of chocolate and vanilla. Smooth flavour, delightful lightly roasted quality malts, some sweetness but not too much, notes of chocolate, toast and mild coffee, moderate hops. Definitely a beer I’d buy again.
3.1 500ml bottle. Impenetrable black with a lively off white head that fizzed away. Roasted malt and coffee aroma. Taste is similar with a hint of liquorice. Bit thin, perhaps, and taste/aroma could both be stronger, but still nice
2.9 .25l pour from refrigerated bottle into shaker pint. Nose is light, nutty, malty. Body is thin. Taste is malty without being too strong. Nutty, a little bready, some toffee. Easy drinking stout.
3.7 Clear dark with a big off-white head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Taste is liqurice, roasted malt and bread
4.4 Thick and creamy tasting. Looks like liquid black gold. Tastes like a really decent beer but looks and tastes like something really really special :)
3.1 330ml bottle bought at food market in Fulham for only £1! drank from the bottle so no idea on appearance. aroma was coffee, earth and cocoa. very carbonated. earthy taste, a little bitter coffee. dry finish.
3.6 500ml bottle pours black with a decent tan head. Aroma is fabulous, sweet milk chocolate and caramel, almost a Mars bar nose...really. Taste is roasted, chocolatey malts, also get some smokey character coming through and then it all gets sweet, maybe a touch too sweet. Soft carbonation but just enough to keep things vibrant, really velvety mouthfeel. Definitely one of my favourite sub 5% beers I have tasted.
3.3 Bottle BBE: 28 Jul 2016. Cellar temp. Pours essentially black with a small but significant, creamy, tight, tan head. Great lacing. Medium intensity aromas of smoked cheese, coffee, roasted grain and a hint of liquorice. A medium treacle sweetness is the dominant taste, with some smokiness clouding the tongue. Surprisingly light-medium bodied, with quite a soft, foamy texture. Carbonation is high-medium and the finish is slightly astringent. Overall this is a bit of a disappointment, as the pour and nose promised much. Probably needs to be a bit higher abv to deliver the expected body and complexity.
3.6 Bottle in Rosemarkie Good and balanced stout. Roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate
