Cairngorm Trade Winds (Cask)

Cask; Regular.
Award winning new recipe. A light golden colour with a high proportion of wheat and corn giving it a clean fresh taste on top of which there is masses of hop, fruit and citrus flavours with elderflower on the nose.

2.7 Huddersfield Oktoberfest 2016. Golden with an easy enough drinking texture and a light bitter character.
2.8 Backlog rating: Pint at Kings House Hotel, Glen Coe in April 2016. Pours golden with foamy slight off white head. Aroma weak with cereal, hay and a little toast. Rather bland but quite drinkable.
3.2 Decent thirst quencher. Pours light gold. Not much aroma, hint of hops. A little overcarbonated for me. Reasonable bitterness but the aftertaste is a little harsh. A decent session beer, and easily the best brew in the Mercure Inverness amidst corporate bland garbage. Would drink again.
3.4 Light golden, small off white head. Aroma of light citrus. Light body, flavour is light sweet citrus fruit, light pine. Lightly bitter sweet finish.
4.0 * Bottle. Pours cloudy golden, with a white head. * Aroma is floral, elderflower. * Palate is light body, medium carbonation, very fine bubbles. * Taste is clean, fresh, hop, fruit & citrus. * Finish is moist & refreshing.
3.2 Medium hoppy aroma bit packs a massive hoppy punch on the tongue. Light golden honey appearance.
3.2 Cask at the Thomson’s Bar, Edinburgh. Pours clear orange with the white head. Malty and slightly fruit aroma. Sweet, malty and light fruity flavor.
3.4 Cask at the Blue Blazer. Pours golden, nose is floral, citrus, taste is similar, sweet toffee.
3.1 Cask @ Bothy Bar, Mac Donald Hotel, Kinlochleven. Golden colour, white foam. Medium carbonation. Light sweet aroma with notes of citrus and fruitiness. Light bitter aftertaste. Ok beer, nothing special.
1.8 Man can only drink so many blond ales, and I’ve ticked this one off, and wouldn’t want to return to it, bland.
2.8 Sampled @ GBBF day 2. Clear orange golden color, small white head. Smell and taste malts, lightly hayish, a slight touch of hops and some malty bitterness. Average body and carbonation. Ok beer.
2.7 Cask - Sweet grains, apple and some odd fruity esters. Clear gold with no head. Grainy and earthy hips with a dry finish.
3.4 Cask pint at The Sanderling (JDW) at Glasgow airport. A medium golden colour with some head.
3.4 Bottle from Dobbies Garden Centre. Pours light orange colour. Elderflower flavour is very strong and overpowers everything else but still a very refreshing beer for a summer evening
3.7 From The Old Bridge Inn, Aviemore after a walk in the Abernethy Forest. Elderflower aroma was strong, refreshing & spritzy with a good hop finish. The best of the 5 Cairngorm beers I tried while camping nearby.
3.2 Cask. Pours a gold colour with a thin white head, aroma is all citrus fruits, the taste is malty and has some sweetness with a crisp dry finish.
3.2 Cask at The Sir Walter Scott (JDW), Edinburgh Airport on 20 May. Poured golden, with a dense white head and excellent lacing. Aroma of apricots, dough and straw. Sweet tinned fruit flavours, with some bread and hay. Finish was syrup, malt and pine.
3.2 A nice rounded taste without a wow factor. The perle hoping came accross as subtle and supported the refined bitterness. But I don’t really get this as a wheat beer / malted barly combo. Apparently brewed with elderflower this didn’t come through in the least. At best a drinkable cask ale at worste confused. Drunk at the Gelnuig Inn with Stuart and Bridgid.
3.8 Clear light golden yellow, not much head. Big citrus aroma. Medium-light body, crisp finish. Refreshing.
2.7 (draught) pours a clear golden colour with a creamy off-white head. aroma of honey melon and banana, with a hint of yeast, some powdered sugar and just a touch of butter. flavour is more butter and grainy pale malts, with heavy notes of popcorn and some floral hops in the light-bitter finish. medium-bodied with soft carbonation.
2.5 From cask at Mosset Tavern, Forres. Golden, white head. Fine and persistent lacing. Subdued aroma of orange marmelade. Refreshing taste of marmelade, balanced with moderate bitterness. OK, but not very exciting.
3.6 Fresh floral aroma of elderflower, clear amber color. Nice minerally mouthfeel with lots of wheat, citrus, and floral hops. Great after a long day’s hike.
3.3 Cask at The Woodshed, Coylumbridge. Small white head, great lacing. Clear golden body. Floral nose, a little honey. Flavour is sweet and malty, a little citrus, floral overtones. Mouthfeel is smooth with minimal carbonation. Refreshing and easy to drink. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
2.8 Cask at the blue blazer. Pours light hazy gold, thin white head. Strong flower aroma, bit much for me! Wheat in the background, plus lemon. Taste is light sweet, more flowers. Slight astringency. Ok.
3.1 DAA; Bottle 500 ml. Pours hazy golden with white fading head. Citrus, fruity, light floral aroma. Taste is less, light malty. Light mouth, thin texture. Dry, medium finish.
3.4 Cask at the Castle Tavern, Inverness, 18/10/13. Clear golden with a good sized white head. Nose is toasted malts, vanilla, citrus, sweet fruit aroma. Taste comprises caramel, summer fruits, vanilla fudge, toasty malts. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate, in good nick! Decent GB.
2.7 on cask at the ox in edinburgh. light golden with a thin but lingering head; aroma of old couch and pressed flowers; watery texture; faint bitterness, faint caramel and not much else going on
3.7 Has a heavy sweet hop aroma, and a perfect solid white head atop a golden body. Flavour is a strong reliable malt with just a hint of citrus. Dry finish. This is a very fine, well crafted brew.
3.7 Cask (Lord Moon of the Mall JDW, London) - Hazy golden in colour. Elderflower, peach and passion fruit in the aroma. Extremely refreshing taste with elderflower dominating along with notes of grapefruit, peach and lychees.
2.6 (Cask): Golden colour with medium white head. Aroma of elderflower, citrus fruits and light hop notes. Elderflower in the taste but is way too powerful, puts you off it - almost chemical tasting. Some other faint notes were hops, malt and biscuit. Could be a nice beer if they tone down the elderflower and balance the flavours properly.
