Camba Bavaria Black Shark

Camba Bavaria Black Shark

Camba Black Shark is with its alcohol content and its deep black color nothing for ’wimps’. Imperial means that more hops (Hops (Columbus, Chinook, Simcoe, Centennial, Crystal) and malts are used. 20.2°

3.9 Block 33cl. @home poured into a shaker. Deep dark brown colour, almost opaque, good frothy tan head, good retention, heavy lacing. Aroma roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, dark fruit, liquorice notes. Taste medium sweet and bitter, roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, bit sugary, light grapefruit. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, roasty sweetbitter aftertaste, chocolate, resin and spicy notes, perhaps too sweet for a black IPA but tasty anyway, very good.
3.2 Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear black with a vague tint of orange and a lacing, beige head. Greasy, citrusy hop aroma with an underlying roastiness. Rich - very rich - malty body, with solid roast and licorice. Quite ashy and somewhat harsh with a bitterness in the finish deriving from both malts and hops. Somewhat brutal and surprisingly boozy. 100920
3.6 Fles 33cl thuis. Koffie, chocolade, flink hoppig, flink bitter, roasted malts, citrustonen, fruitig, rozijn, vrij zacht. Nadronk blijft lang hangen. (26-5-2020.
4.0 Bottle at home. Pours jet black with a beige head. Nose is lightly fruity, somewhat resinous hoppy with a cocoa touch. Taste is beautiful balance between chocolate, cocoa powder and lightly to moderately bitter hops with a touch of booze. Long lasting dry, warming, slighlty sweet and slightly bitter finish. Dig the balance here.
3.7 Definitely world class for the style. Not too ipa-like. But the hops are a perfect match for the roast. Similar to back in black from 21A. D&S Dresden
4.2 Dark brown with a beige two centimetre thick head. Smell of roasted malts with a note of exotic fruit. Strong bitter taste with a creamy coffee ending with caramel notes. Full body.
4.0 AR: Hopfen, Harz, Gülle, Zitrus AP: krümeliges schwarz TA: bitter, Wermut, kräuterig, Schwedenbitter, Hopfen, Harz
3.4 Farbe: schwarz. Pechschwarz. OK, im Strahl dunkelbraun. Schaum: dicht beständig, hellbraun Nase: säuerlich, nicht viel. Möh. Bisschen Cola.
4.1 Strong flowery and tropical fruit aromas remind you that this is an IPA and not a Porter or stout. The color is very dark, indeed almost black with a brown foam, looking very appealing. The first sip surprises by its sweetness and full earthy roast malt taste, including coffee, almost like a Porter. Then the hops kick in, in the end leading to a pleasant balance between sweetness and bitterness.
4.3 330ml bottle in 2016. Stonkingly good black IPA (why don’t they make these anymore?). Black with a dense tan head. Great aroma of roasted malt, piney hops, tropical fruit, cocoa and resin. Big flavours, with loads of roasty and hoppy notes and a very nice mouthfeel.
4.0 9/10/2019. Draft at Tap House, Munich. Poured black with a large tan coloured head. Aroma of hops, chocolate, roasted malt, tropical fruits, light coffee and pine. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium plus body, oily texture, average to soft carbonation. A very good black IPA.

3.7 Roaster bitter blackness
4.4 Bottle coming from Liebling Getränk shop, from Germering. Trying and judging this bottle with pleasure for our National day, the 1st August, at Bonfol. In my point of view, it is a really good black IPA, one of the best that I have tried. I could say that it is almost a stout/imperial stout. The body is a deep black color, troubled, white and brown foam, normal carbonatiom. The taste is tasty and perfectly aromatic, so good for the nose and the mouthfeel. You get a side of roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, chocolate, a perfect note of hop, giving a decent bitterness, the aroma of roasted malt is stronger than usual for the style, giving a perfect sensation, good and highly enjoyable product.
3.7 Tap. Malty aroma and taste, hoppy notes, extra light roastyness, chocolate and coffee notes, light sweet, medium bitter. Medium to full body, malty bittet finish. Ok.
3.6 0,33l Flasche. Dunkelbraun und glänzend. Beiger cremiger Schaum. Rosinen und Alkoholduft. Seidig im Antrunk. Vanille, Haselnuss, Röstmalz. Passt.
4.0 Dark black colour, very foamy and stable brown head. Aroma has clear chocolate and caramel notes. Taste is light sweet with quite bitter middle. Great one!
4.0 Bottle picked up from Liebick Getränke which is on St.-Cäcilia-Straße in Germering, Bavaria, we're in our log cabin in Dachau, Bavaria, Germany. We're listening to Steve Lamaq on 6 Music, Monday 14th January 2018. Cooking chicken wrapped with prosciutto and stuffed with gorgonzola served with vegetables. Pours black with a cappuccino coloured head. There is a lovely bitterness, good sweet and burnt roasty edge. This has a wonderful bittersweet and roasty balance with a touch of burnt toffee and citrus combined. Lovely. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov17 4.0
3.0 The nose reminds me of a thin porter - except for the strong pine notes. On the tongue, you get a bitter-sweet taste and a stoutish feel, while the aroma turns slightly fruity. But the pine remains dominant, and if you are looking for stout-like aroma components, they are exceedingly faint - overpowered by the (wrong, imo) hops. There is a pleasant kind of heaviness to this beer, but very little balance. The pine seems so alien to everything else, largely ruining the entire story (imo).
3.9 Bottle @ Friends/Panzer. Appearance: pours dark brown with tan soapy head and lacing. aroma/taste: caramel, coffee, citrus, pine, light alcohol, light oak, grass, grapefruit and herbal notes. palette: strong roasted malty and hoppy aroma, light to average carbonation, medium to full body, average to notable sweetness, balanced by a notable bitterness, average to long duration and an oily texture. Overall: great combination of roasted malt and hops
4.2 Przepyszna czarna IPA z posmakiem palonego slodu z poteznym atakiem chmielów, czuć las, lekko karmelowe, mega przyjemna goryczka, ale zaznaczam ze piwo bedzie pyszne dla fanow goryczki.
3.5 Bottle. Black featuring a huge beige head. Aroma of citrus fruits (grapefruits mostly). Taste is roasted malts, dark chocolate and a tiny hint of coffee. Long lasting fruity, hoppy bitterness. Medium carbonation. Nice Black IPA although I gotta admit I still don't fully understand this style...and probably never will.
4.6 Leckeres Bitter. Dunkel wie die Nacht. Schön karamellig, aber auch eine sehr schöne Hopfenbittere.
4.2 Praktycznie zupelnie czarne, nieprzejrzyste z wysoka trwala piana koloru bezowego, drogno pecherzykowa. Aromat: lekki karmel, z czasem czekolada, chmielowosc ziolowa i zywiczna. Smak: kawa, palonosc, slodycz. Wysycenie srednie, mega pelne, kremowe. Piekna mocna kawowo zywiczna goryczka. Lekkie rozgrzewanie aczkolwiek wyczuwalnosc alkoholu zerowa.
4.3 Mid body. Fresh bitter hops. High alc. Below average aroma. Good flavour. Recomended
4.3 Pours a pitch-black coloration with a medium, fluffy, off-white head. Smells of roasted, slightly caramelly malt and citrus, slightly resinous hops, with notes of licorice, tobacco, grapefruit and pine coming through. Taste is an excellent balance of roasted, slightly caramelly malt and bitter, resinous, slightly fruity and herbal hops, with citrus notes of grapefruit and lime, as well as some chocolate, tobacco, licorice, pine and hints of herbal and earthy accents. Finishes with a medium/strong bitterness and some roasted malt, tobacco, grapefruit and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Creamy mouthfeel with a medium/rich body and medium carbonation. This makes for a truly outstanding Black IPA if you can get it fresh, too bad the brewery sets a 24-month best-by date for it, by the end of which this will have basically turned into a Baltic Porter. Nevertheless, this makes for one of the best BIPAs I've ever had when fresh, featuring an excellent balance or roasted, chocolate, tobacco and licorice notes from the malts and bitter, resinous, citrus, herbal notes form the hops. Overall, this makes for a rich, complex and well-balanced BIPA with a great body and mouthfeel as well, without a hint of booze despite its 8.5% ABV. Absolutely fantastic stuff... when fresh. I've had at past 6 months and it was already a shadow of itself.
3.8 Bottle at bar in Budapest. Pours dark black with beige head. Strong caramel, toast and roasted malt aroma. Big body filling beer (20° plato) witj good balance of bitter floral hops and toasty roasted malts. Nice but a bit too massive for me. I prefer a BIPA that's a bit less boozy. Still really well done.
