Cambridge Audacity of Hops

Cambridge Audacity of Hops

Real change is here! No longer will American beer lovers be forced to choose between those quirky, eccentric beers of Belgium or the explosively flavorful IPAs of the United States.
We have brewed the change we have been waiting for!

Liberally hopped to an audacious degree, our Belgian Double IPA reaches across the aisle to bridge the seemingly contradictory brewing philosophies of the old world and new. Our beer uses generous portions of Pilsner and Vienna malts to give it its hazy golden color and rocky white head. Two independent dry hop additions of Simcoe, Chinook, Amarillo, Hallertauer, and Spalt put aside their differences to form a delicious coalition. Floral grassiness dominates the nose with fruity hints of bright citrus well represented. Its subtle spicy flavor comes from a Belgian yeast as well as generous doses of German hops in the kettle. These aggressive flavors are complemented by a determined bitterness and a full but dry finish.

All of these characteristics come together in a nonpartisan spirit of cooperation to form a beer that is both righteously flavorful and drinkable.
Enjoy!

3.5 Pours clear golden with a fairly thick and frothy eggshell head. Hoppy aroma has a strong fruity overtone, mainly citrus with some pear, and a malty underpinning. Flavor is hoppy and fruity, just a little bitter, with hints of evergreen wood and sweetish malt. Mouthfeel has average body but strong, sharp and persistent fizz. Maybe not audacious, but certainly hoppy.
3.8 Hazed orange-gold color with lacy sudsy strong white head. Musty-floral aroma. Slight musty, mostly floral and sweet with a bitter touch.
3.8 Poured a hazy yellow color with a medium sized white head. Citrus hops start off the aroma in a big way. Yeasty notes with some lemon and a touch of pine. The flavor had a nice mix of malt and hops. Taste of pine. Very long hop flavor and bitterness. Semi-sweet finish. Medium bodied and warming
3.7 Bomber from Whole Foods Fairfield. Pours a hazy orange with a large frothy tan head. Good head retention. The taste is citrus, tropical hops, caramel, caramized sugar. Aroma of floral, earthy, spicy hops, pale malt. Medium bodied, strong lingering bitterness.
3.7 bottle at home ...hazy copper ... thin white laxcing ... soft toffee fruit .. big zezty nose...soft fruits .. soft funk .. dry zezt ... soft dry zezty fruits ... small hints of brett... interesting
3.4 22 oz bottle. Pours slightly hazy straw yellow with a big meringue like white head that retains well and laces the glass some. The aroma is sweet wheaty malts, some fruit and a lot of musty Belgian character and some pepper and bubblegum. The flavor is sweet fruity malts, earthy yeast and a decent bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low carbonation. Overall, a nice Belgian IPA.
3.5 Very fresh bottle from Craft Beer Cellar. Somewhat yeasty with lots of hops. Above average mouthfeel, orange flavour.
3.6 Serving: 22 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a clear amber color with a lasting off white head. Nice grassy and pine aroma. A little sweet up front for the style with slightly old grass and pine hop notes. A bit dense on the tongue with a medium finish. I wouldn’t mind a little less sweetness and a little lighter body in this one. Decent.
3.6 Bomber. Pineapple aroma with notes of citrus and a bit of pine. Pours hazy golden colored with a huge, soapy white head with decent retention and lacing. Starts sweet with pineapple juice and a bit of citrus. Finishes dry with the pineapple sticking to the palate before giving way to the piney bitter hop finish. Interesting and quite enjoyable.
3.6 Bomber into a glass. Cloudy gold pour. Aroma of pine and citrus, a bit soapy. Taste is very much the same...surprisingly light on bitterness with a nice sweetness. Very well-balanced. Light pineapple juice notes. Overall finishes with a lasting juicy, yet lightly pine bitter finish. East drinking.
3.6 Nice clean crisp beginning. Citrus and light floral grape note up front with a subtle hoppy ending. Slight grapefruit throughout. Not getting a ton of the Belgian yeast, but it is there, along with some sweetness.
3.5 Bottle picked up from Beers of Europe, consumed at home Sunday 5th October 2014. Pours glowing murky orange with filmy white hops. Soft in mouth, spicy in mouth, a sweet spicy orange fruity bite. Bit disappointed to see this was bottled 2012! Not sure how long BOE are keeping some of their beers for. A7 A3 T7 P4 Ov15 3.5
4.0 Pours hazy golden with a large off-white head. Smells funky, fruity, hints of citrus. Taste is kind of farmhouse-like, hints of funk, hints of citrus and pine bitterness. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and active mouth-carbonation, Cambridge Audacity of Hops finishes with fading subtle bitterness.
3.7 At Plan B Simsbury. Good aroma sweet, yeast. Nice blend of yeast and Citrus Golden orange color good head and lace. Bitter sweet flavor. Medium body creamy mouthfeel bitter sweet finish. That’s nice. I like the mix of yeast and hops.
3.5 Backlog rating on 8-19-2012 (Bottle Batch No. 02/Bottled Feb. 2012) This beer pours a medium sized semi-fizzy white head that mostly diminishes, slightly hazy yellow body, very fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is malt, grassy, floral hops, and citrus fruits. The flavor is yeasty, lightly bitter, malt, hops, and fruity. The mouthfeel is lively and this beer is light-medium bodied favoring more on the light side. Overall, this beer is not overly hoppy tasting for the style. It is very quaffable and worth trying.
3.6 Bomber poured a hazy gold with a lasting creamy ivory head. Aromas of straw, yeast, grassiness, grapefruit and a hint of pine. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of straw, yeast, earthiness and light grapefruit with a smooth dry lingering bitter finish.
3.6 Acheté chez Madden Beverage à Saco, ME. Arôme d’agrumes avec une pointe de pin et de caramel. Belle couleur ambré sémi-opaque avec un beau col.
3.5 Golden color with thin head (some lacing). Big hop presence, mostly floral with some spice, most likely from the Belgian yeast. Pretty bitter with a dry finish. Decent.
3.8 22 pours golden yellow with ample white head that turns into decent lacing. Aroma is hops straight up. Taste is hops, pine, straw, citrus, teabag, faint hints of yeast and spice, and more pine and straw. Finish is dry and bitter, and not too sticky.
(Rating #5650)
3.8 Bottle from CBX. Almost clear goden pour with a fingers worth of frothy white head. Big tropical citrus hops on the nose, pineapple, papaya, peach with some floral aspects, light pale malts with hints of Belgian yeast. Touch of sweetness up front where the malt and yeast meet fading into strong bitter hops finishing out the back. Medium heavy bodied and fairly dry. Solid reeb.
3.0 Cloudy straw yellow Belgian nose with mostly west coast IPA taste. Nice enough, but nothing out of this world.
4.0 Delicious IPA with a distinct Belgian aroma and palate. Appealing Belgian sweetness that is quickly balanced with a bright hops flavor sip after sip. Best enjoyed closer to cellar temperature than warm.
3.5 Kind of odd. Nutty smokey and diaper taste plus a touch if urinal puck. Taste is bitter and herbal. Tasty but odd.
3.9 Bottle, Domus Birrae, Roma. Shared with Slothez, Superbowl session. Hazy amber pour with a middling white head. Quite a pungent fruity hop laden beak. Flavour followed suit with a hearty dollop of piney hop in cahoots with some sweet malts yeast and spice. Bitterness falls into the cruiserweight division. Scores high on drinkability. A very solid Double IPA that just stumbles a little short of being a true world beater.
3.7 Bottle. Pours orange gold with white head. Nose and taste of orange peel, grass, pine, mango and sugared grapefruit peel. Medium body.
3.6 Poured from a large bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer was a mostly clear deep gold-straw color with a huge, very foamy, white head with great retention, average cling and lacing. The aroma was a blend of citrus, floral, and pine hops, along with yeast, wheat, and straw, with touches of spice and lemon. Its taste was an interesting blend of bitter citrus and grainy hops, along with a modest sour grain and yeast effect, and some lighter fruity sweetness as well. The beer was quite watery in the mouth with a wet filling feel, but a very dry character and aftertaste with average carbonation and life. A strange blending of styles, with a good but not outstanding outcome.
3.8 Bottle, shared with Parksy. Deep orange with a pillowy golden head. Hoppy aroma and flavour profile, pine character dominates, citrus oils too. Sweet , slightly sticky malts with enormous hop character and a long bitter finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Very good.
3.7 Pours pale hazy uellow with medium white head. Aroma of belgian yeast, citrus, tropical fruit, honey. Taste is sweetish, wheat, honey followed by long pine bitter finish. Light, fresh body with average carbonation.
