Camerons Long Leg

Camerons Long Leg

Cask & Bottle Conditioned;

Long Leg is a traditional, full flavoured, golden ale exclusively brewed using Fuggle hops, both in the copper and as a late addition to give a distinctive, late copper hop flavour. The name honours the tradition of hop picking on stilts in order to harvest the tall crop.

3.2 Extreme tribute on fuggles hops. Light yellow with lacey white head. Above averga carbonation. The lace coats the glass. A bit of hoppy, almost cheesy aroma. Medium plus mouthfeel. It climaxes in a fruitiness. Worthwhile pale to try.
2.6 12-6-07 bottle. Clear amber color with bubbly head and lacing. Smells like a sour pale lager - very bland, no floral or fruity hints - just blah. Drinkable - but little to no real flavor or depth.
2.2 Smelled some faint hops for a second before pouring it but after that it was all overly sweet, gooey mildly gauzy malt. Taste was similar with an odd sweetness and equally unusual tart bitterness. Not infected bad, but still not enjoyable. Something about the whole experience of this beer was extremely unappealing. Not the worst I’ve had, but I didn’t bother finishing the last half.
3.0 Poured a light copper color with thin lasting head. Aroma of hops and soap suds. Slightly sweet malt up front followed by a bitter hop finish. Average English ale.
2.3 Slightly green with a dimpled white head. Aroma is minimal. Grassy, slightly metallic taste. Past its prime, perhaps, but it has a bitter skunky aftertaste. $1.60/12oz
1.9 Looks a bit disgusting with a cloudy greenish tint but has a decent white head. Pretty malty on the nose but quite sweet. Tastes a bit like a warm macrobrew beer.
3.2 Pours a bit hazy with lighter amber colors. Roasted malt on the nose and and roasted but bitter finish on the end from the fuggles.
3.0 tastes like a black and tan. Some roasty flavor lightened up with some hops. Not bad but not great.
3.1 bottle. small white frothy head with small amount of head actually retaining. decent lacing. clear yellow body. aromas of molasses and floral hops (perfumey). flavor has a sweet richness to it. basic golden but still good never-the-less.
3.1 Bottle sampled. Pours a goulden color with a off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, and grassy notes. Flavor of caramel malts, bitter hops, and some fruit notes with light bitter finish.
2.8 pint. pours a golden clear amber with semy fluffy/frothy head. pale hoppy aroma. light pale with slightly bitter finish. light smooth and refreshing with mild bitterness in finish, sticking thru to the aftertaste.
2.9 Bottle. Pours orange yellow, white head. Aroma is hops (skunk), caramel. Flavor is caramel, grass, honey, wheat, slight hops.
3.1 Date: 04/14/2007 Mode: Bottle Source: Tasting clear dark gold, wispy white head, drops of lace, candy sweet malt aroma with plesant floral hops, nice sweet caramel malt flavor, well balanced with mellow hops, light bitter finish, a very nice bitter Aroma: 6/10; Appearance: 7/10; Flavor: 6/10; Palate: 6/10; Overall: 12/20 Rating: 3.1/5.0 Drinkability: 9/10 Score: **/4
2.2 Big rich malt base, toasty caramel, musty, and tart fruity. Slightly dusty taste in the finsh along with a good hop dose. Pours dark amber, not sure about its Golden status. Tastes a bit old to me, light oxidation and thinner then it should be on the palate.
2.5 Bottle. Deep golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma is cellar, malt, caramel, fruit. Flavour is hop, fruit, floral, grapefruit, mould.
3.0 Bottle. Clear, golden ale with a lasting off-white head. Cellar, malt, some notes of caramel, and fruity. I guess the cellar-notes was caused by too long cellaring, it was a month past BB-date, so I ignore that when rating it. There was cellar in the flavor as well. In addition, the flavor had grapefruit, bitterness from the hops, and in general, it was quite fruity. Medium body. Quite fruity finish with some pine. A quite balanced and drinkable beer, but a bit boring. The cellar-note actually made it more interesting... (070527)
3.3 Dark orange body with short white head. Aroma of sweet malts and hops, including flowers, with notes of caramel and cookie. Moderately sweet flavor with a moderately bitter finish. The medium body is slightly sticky. Lively carbonation. Nice, refreshing English ale.
3.1 Amber with a nice head. The aroma has notes of fruits. It’s a nice an uncomplicated beer with notes of flower, fruit and caramel. The hops are nicely balanced and gives a fine bitter finish. Easy to drink.
3.2 For hops it’s not too hoppy and for a fuggles it’s fantastic and wikkid fun bottle...
3.7 Pours orange-red amber into an English pint. Off-white micro head with good retention leaves scum as it slowly recedes. Bright shiny malt and hop aromas. Soft with upfront strawberries and caramel and a hint of fuggles in the finish. Very smooth and drinkable.
3.7 Best by February 2005, Sampled March 2007 Pours with a brilliantly clear, copper color that is topped by a frothy, initially two-finger thick, light tan colored head. The aroma is faintly herbal with some definite grassy notes and a touch of dry, faintly toasty malt towards the end. As my nose gets used to this beer a nice berry like fruitiness that I find characteristic of fuggles starts to become noticeable. Crisp tasting up front, but then a sweet, lightly caramelized, and definitely fruity note takes hold and lasts through to the finish. This has a nice biting bitterness to it that lingers on through to a faintly astringent, yet crisp finish. The fruitiness has a characteristic berry-like fuggles character to it that is quite nice, and still surprisingly fresh. A touch of biscuit malt character finishes this brew off along with the bitterness. I am quite impressed with this beer, it has really held up quite well, though I think that this is because it has been stored at refrigerator temperatures all this time. It is quite fresh tasting still, or at least has no touches of oxidation or age that are discernable. This is almost an IPA in character, especially for an exported English beer. This is very nice.
2.9 The aroma has Fuggle hops, malt, butter, and nuts. It smell like a hoppy bitter. The appearance is light amber with a two finger head. The flavor is tinny and very much like the aroma. The palate is thin and the aftertaste metallic. This is probably the only beer I have ever had with a good metallic aftertaste. But I am not really that impressed with the beer.
3.0 Bronze pour with small white head. Aroma is toasted malt with light hops. Sweet and roasted flavor with citrus hoppy bitterness. Rather unique character to this beer. Mellows slightly when warmed up.
3.1 Pours a transparent golden bronze with a spotty coating of wispy white head. Aroma of earthy, grassy floral English hops and slightly toasted pale malt. Body starts semi-sweet with a touch of earthy green bitterness and some mild lemon rind citrus notes. Smooth and interesting Fuggles character.
3.2 Poured a clear amber color with a thin white head. Foral hop and fruity aroma. Sweety malty base underneath. Floral and earthy hops over decent malt. Semi-dry finish. Long mild-moderate bitterness. Light to medium bodied. Light diacetyl in the aroma and slick on the tongue.
2.7 Pale Gold Color with White Ring. Sweet Grains...Light Skunked Aroma. Sweet Grains and Soft Hops...Skunk in the Flavor as Well. Most Likely a Bad Bottle...Had Nice Prospects for a Light Ale.
3.3 When I popped the cap there wasn’t much in the way of carbonation. Poured a quick white head that disapated. Color is dark yellow. Carbonation is good. Says it was bottle conditioned, but I didn’t really see any yeast at the bottom of the bottle to indicate that. Nice hop charactor, not complicated by using all sorts of different hop varieties. Hop flavor in aftertaste is not overpowering, but long lasting. Mostly malty tones in aroma. Best by date left blank. Bought at Ledger’s Liquors, in Berkeley.
3.5 [210-20070217] 12floz. (Fuggles Hops.) Sweet candy hints in hoppy aroma. Clear, orange red body with tiny bubbles throughout and a long-lasting foamy white head. Sweet earthy tones in flavour add to hoppy fuggles. Medium body. Nice hoppy beer, not over-powering.
3.3 In the bottle at Dundee Dell. Pours dark gold/light amber with a beautifully thick and rich white head that leaves a fantastic wall of lacing. Strong hop aroma of fresh tea. Flavor is a very smooth and drinkable tea flavor from the same generous hops. Plenty of gypsum as well. Nice drinker due to the presence of the hops not allowing the medium to thin body to emerge.
3.4 Bottle shared by Mabel. copper amber body, with a good sized fluffy off-white or beige head. (3+) Lightly earthy fuggles and English malt aroma. Moderate bitterness, light earthy notes that linger long into the finish, not quite nutty notes. Average palate. Nice, solid session brew.
