4.3750 ml bottle, purchased and consumed at Cantillon early August 2015. Light ruby pour, small fizzy off-white head. Amazing nose, with cherry pit, wood, almond, hazelnut, and sweet cherry flesh. Flavor brings pronounced cherry, chestnut, plum, classic Cantillon zingy funk and tartness. Excellent stuff.
3.7Bottle @ Cantillon 15/5-15. [ As Zwanze 2014 ]. Fruity with cherries and cinnamon, also some vanilla and wood. Dry finish with notes of grapefruit.
4.3From notes on 9/10/15. Bottle at Cantillon. Nice spiced aroma. This beer seems to be more acidic than the other Cantillon’s I’ve had. Kind of a spiced fruit taste.
3.3Nogal een speciaal biertje van een speciale editie. Een volle kriekensmaak, weinig of geen schuimkraag.
4.1[9/18/15] Draught at Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas in Brussels. As “Zwanze 2014 – Cuvée Bija”. Red color with a pinkish off-white head. Lovely aroma full of barnyard, leather, oak, cherries, lemon. Sour flavor, funky, juicy, with cherries, oak, and a lemony bitterish touch. Medium-bodied. Really delicious stuff.
4.1On tap at Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Hazy pink amber color with pinkish beige head. Aroma is fruity, berries, grapes, wood, funky, dusty, barnyard. Sweet and acidic taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.
3.9bottle at the brewery
Dark red-brown with herbal hoppy and almond notes on the nose. full bodied, complex, fresh hoppy, lactic, cherry stones, dry, earthy, moderate carbonation, big body.
3.3Bottle shared with Thompson and brother J @ Cantillon. Nice dark orange to amber color, full sized off-white head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma surprises me, quite some blossom and a bit sweetish like overripe fruits. Also get a hint of cinnamon somehow, don’t really like that. Taste is lightly sour, a touch of sour-bitter, sweet and sweet-sour cherries. Hint of cinnamon again. Too bad, that’s not what I want to taste. Nevertheless, a fine lambic, just not my first choice.
4.3@ Cantillon July 15
Looks.. Cherry red, with a strawberry hue.
Smells...cherries, a little musky and some hop notes.
Tastes..big cherries, healthy tart sourness before the hop character..
Finishes with a hop bitterness and oak and cherry pip wood dryness.
3.9From tap. Pours red to deep amber. Small white head. Aroma is solid barnyard and almondish. Dry, citric, almondish. Metallic, light wooden. Dry and lingering cherry fruity and citric finish.
4.2Bottle at cantillon, as zwanze 2014. Pours deep red, nose is floral, funky, cherry, taste is really dry and sour, cherry up front, long floral finish.
4.6Bottle: Taster:
Cloudy amber with an off white head.
Aroma is serious amazing: the perfect balance between lambiek tones with all the funk, wood and wild yeast the red fruit from the krieken which cause a little marzipan cherry tone and the dry hopping which causes the beautiful hop fruits to blend in perfectly! Simply amazing!
Flavour also has beautiful kriek (with bitter marzipan notes) tones and some lighter hop tones. Again more bitter. Less Cantillon funk. Brilliant balance! Brilliant beer! You can seriously taste the Bramling Cross or better herbal nettle tones.
Aftertaste is bitter, light tart, tart sweet cherries, some wood, some herbs, light funk and bitter malt sprinkles.
Low carbo, light creamy light dry light tart mouthfeel, more than only medium bodied.
Amazing beer! Wonderful!
4.1Bottle. Hazy ruby liquid with small to medium light pink head. Aroma of almond, noble hops, earth, lemon, apple skin and light perfume. Taste is dry and medium sour with notes of almond, cherries, wood, lingonberries and lemon. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Really nice, interesting with the hoppiness.
4.2Bottle @ Cantillon. Pours hazy orange pink, medium beige head, nice lacing. Aroma is pumpkin, funk, basement aromas, tart cherry, a bit of pumpkin pie spices. Flavor is light sweet, medium funk, pumpkin, cherries and spice, somewhat herbal. Light tart and fruity. Medium light body. Quite different and interesting.
4.2Small, dense, just pinkish head over foxy ruby beer. Sour cherries, faint lemony, sour wild fruit. Old cherries, old wood, sherry amontillado. Finish is really lemony. Warming up very surprising notes of curry powder and/or speculoos spices. Light acidburn, light to medium bodied, slick. Appropriately dry. Great and special Grand merci aux deux Jeans!
4.6Bottle at Cantillon in Brussels. Probably my favourite bottle of the day/week. Pours a beautiful Rosy Ruby with a surprisingly stable off-White head. Initially I was just smelling Cheery and funk but then gingerbread cliscked in to place and from that point it was all I could smell. It was the aroma that made this beer so special for me. Assertively measured funk and tartness with an emphasis on balance. I loved this beer. Stood out in a company of giants.
4.1Bouteille 750ml. Couleur rouge foncée trouble, mousse beige fuyante. Arôme de cerise, fermier, alcool, champignon. Goût de cerise, malt, bonne amertume. Carbonatation moyenne, corps moyen.
4.5Pours a hazy gold amber color with white head. Christmas-like spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, funk, tartness, and light fruits on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with lingering spice, tart and dry.
3.7Bottle (750 ml) @ Cantillon 150515. [ As Zwanze 2014 ]. Fruity and bretty with woody notes and cherries, cinnamon and vanilla, light acidic, medium body with an oily texture. The finish is dry with cherries and cinnamon.
4.2Bottle pour at the source. The beer is a bright red with a big pink head of foam. The aroma is musty fruit and red wine. The taste is funky sour and fruity. The wine comes through sort of peppery. Maybe thats the hops coming through. Medium carbonation. Quite nice.
4.1Bottle at Cantillon, 12th May 15. Pours a good looking reddish brown clear drink. Aroma is complex vinous fruit and hops, taste is delicious and well balanced, lovely fruit, not too astringent, long lingering fruity finish. Great, but my favourite is still Pineu d’Anias
3.9Bottle at Cantillon Brewery
Appearance: Hazy red brown, with light brow head.
Aroma: Cherry, caramel and cellar
Taste: heavy sour, slightly sweet caramel and strong bitterness. Dry taste of cherffy seeds.
Long finish
4.6Bottle. Red with off white head. Aroma of super funky cherries, fruity, musty. Taste is divine, cherry, funk, floral, intense cherry, marzipan. Dry and slightly tart. Rather delicious
4.3First of all, nice to be here.. Clear light red pour. Nose: lime, lemon, brett and cherry. Everything is light and refined on the palate. Mouthfeel is oily and zesty with good carbonation. Aftertaste is light drying with lots of lemon and light cherry. Great experience right at the wateringhole.
4.475cl bottle@source 2/2015, merci Jean & team. Tart cherry peel, flesh and pit are vapourised by a rubyred sparkling aspirine body, young yet odorous. The Bramling Cross lays a lovely, unusual tea-like, earthy and citrus-herbal blanket on this cherry champagne’s ebullience. Taste is also young and vibrant, much like their Kriek in its basics, but then estranged from the familiar wild&fruity kriek lambiek territory by the extra mouth-puckering zest and dryness of the dryhop. Raspberry and grapefruit make fantom cameo appearances. Extra fleshy and almost nut-oily character added by the intense almond & marzipan flavours of the extra added cherries+pits. Every avid gulp reveals and foregrounds something new in this vibrantly balanced, already superbly drinkable and still only recently bottled composition. Aging should probably tighten all of these notes tighter together and make way for more of that funk to sprout & flourish from underneath the zesty Brambles.
5.0Это пиво вкусное. я, конечно, рекомендую его всем, что любит хорошую Craft пива!
3.9Bottle at Cantillon. Pours ruby with a medium, frothy pink head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is spicy cherries, nutmeg, black walnut, pale malt and lactic sourness. Flavor is sweet and spicy cherries, pale malt, light earthy hops, tart, and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.
4.3Bottle at the brewery. Aroma is earthy : grapes, acid, raspberry and cherry. Medium bodied with pleasant start and momentum before aftertaste. Peppery finish because of the dryhopping with the versatile hop Bramling Cross. Less essential oils in this hop so a more pronounced fruity flavour and aroma. For me the best part! Palate is crisp and has a slight acidic finish. Superb Zwanze! (Reminds me of the De Cam Kriek Lambiek 2009)
4.3Bottle at Cantillon. Pours dark red with a big head that fades quickly. Aroma has some grapes, lots of cherries, very fruity. Taste is quite bitter, complemented by a wonderful cherryflavour. Nice one again.
4.4Bottle at the brewery. Very fruity, light red brown colour. Aroma is grapes, sweet berry fruitiness, gooseberry. Taste comes with an initial sour hit, then is fruity. Feels like raspberry more than cherry, and then something a little more unusual and maybe tropical, mango and pineapple. Really good.
