Cantillon Gueuze (Classic/Organic/Bio)

Cantillon Gueuze (Classic/Organic/Bio)

The world's classic Gueuze. A blend of one, two, and three year-old lambics creates a second fermentation in the bottle. The champagne of Belgium. In contrast, the Lou Pepe Gueuze is a blend of three 2-year-old lambics.

Newer vintages are labeled "Organic Gueuze", "100% Lambic Bio" or "Classic Gueuze".

3.6 At Moeder. Hazy dark color. Deep gueuze, funk and balanced. Medium body, quite soft. Mild citrus and not as powerful as regular Gueuze. More balanced and elegant. Earlier Rating: 5/14/2014 Total Score: 4 Magnum bottle @ Akkurat. My favorite go-to Gueuze that always offer the same consistency. Sour barn and old forgotten cellars where you have forgotten about you hay, lemons and dried, cobweb covered fruits. Perfection in no need of further complexity.
4.7 Last one from Wednesday night. 2012 bottle (Cuvee du Millonaire) Cloudy orange golden with nice head. Reminds me of Zenne B1, sour wood, Sherry type funk, old Spanish cedar, grapefruit, wood, lemon, and dusty classic gwayzzee. Finishes dry. Exceptional Gueuze Apparently Ratebeer deleted my old check-ins of 1994, and 1996 classic which are some of the best gueuze vintages ever made. Really wish they wouldnt delete old reviews when they merge an aliased beer. So annoying. Earlier Rating: 3/27/2012 Total Score: 4.8 Bottle. Monk’s cafe version. A shimmering hazy golden color with tiny head/lacing. Aromas of tanin lactic funk, spicy yeast, raisins, and lemon. Taste is peachy, butterscotch, wood, puckery lemon, clove spice. Balanced and refreshing for a sour. Re-rate 1994 and 1996 bottles from Frank, Further notes of oak, peach, sour horseblankets, vanilla, caramel, man old cantillon gets so freakin sour. Maybe the most sour beer I have ever had. Amazing.
4.7 2021 vintage (5.5%) Fruity and funky on the nose, with aromas of citrus, apricot, uncooked bread dough, barnyard. Hazy amber, a lovely white, creamy, wet, everlasting head, with beautiful lacing. Sour, funky, fruity, with notes of apricot, tart fruits, citrus, barnyard funk, oaky, dry and tart. Pillowy mouthfeel, creamy, smooth, tingling carbonation. Massive beer, perfectly made, wonderful mouthfeel, taste and looks gorgeous.
Ogólnie: Niezbyt złożone, pomimo to całkiem przyjemne do picia.
4.5 Il grande classico. Splendido equilibrio acido con note funky, acetica. Beverina. Versione 2017 ben riuscita.
4.3 [Tasting - Ceresbyen, Aarhus] [Vintage 2015] Aroma: Huge stone fruits, funky, yeast, apricot, oaky, apple juice, barnyard and leathery Appearance: Golden amber orange with huge fast disappearing white head Taste: Mildly sweet and moderately acidic, huge stone fruits, funky, green apples, brett, apricots and slightly lemon juice Mouthfeel: Thick oily texture with moderate carbonation Overall: Damn the age has really rounded the tasting profile! Awesome complexity and drinkability - absolutely world class Gueuze! 😎 [Original score - 9, 4, 9, 4, 17 - 4.3] [Tasting - Ceresbyen, Aarhus] [Vintage 2013] Aroma: Green apples, loads of funky notes, stone fruits, barnyard and cheesy (Every note has been integrated well into a smooth rounded profile). Appearance: Golden amber orange with medium fast disappearing white head Taste: Mildly sweet and moderately acidic, huge stone fruits, funky, green apples, apricots, vinegar and cheesy Mouthfeel: Thick oily texture with mild carbonation Overall: Damn the age has really rounded tasting profile even more on this one. I enjoyed the 2015 vintage more but this is definitely still awesome after almost 9 years in the bottle! The 2013 has a bit more vinegar and cheesy notes on the palette, less carbonation and every element is even more integrated on the nose and palette. [New score - 9, 4, 8, 4, 17 - 4.2] [Bruxelles, Brasserie Cantillon] [Vintage 2022] Aroma: Huge stone fruits, funky, yeast, peaches, peppery and apples Appearance: Clear golden orange with a small slowly disappearing white head Taste: Mildly sweet and moderately acidic, funky, green apples, citrus fruits, lemon juice, stone fruits and yeast Mouthfeel: Watery texture with mild carbonation Overall: Doesn't quite have the complexity of the aged ones, but still awesome! [New score - 8, 4, 8, 4, 16 - 4.0]
3.8 As Cantillon Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio 37,5cl Bottle @ Beyond Beer, Hamburg, Germany. Hazy amber colour with a thin white head. Aroma is brett, citrus, vinegar. Taste is brett, citrus, vinegar, oak, tart. Medium body, average carbonation.
3.8 375ml bottle as Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio, bottled 4th October 2016. Hazy orange, instantly disappearing head. Aroma is very funky, oak, hay. Taste is funky, lemon, oaky, vinegar, sharp, sour and dry. Fairly lively carbonation.
4.0 Cantilon 37,5cl. Light carbonation. Slight citrus flavours and more brett flavours. Also in the taste funky withsome brett, some citrus flavours but also some harder vinegar acidity. Less acccesible than Boon, Brett Elle etc. Also seems to have harder acids than De Cam and De Troch.
4.2 Golden color and white head. Aroma berry, fruit. Final is average in length.
3.9 37,5cl bottle bottled nov 2017. Pours hazy orange with disappearing white head. Fruity vinous sourness on the nose. Vinegar sourness with a little salty and fruity side.
4.2 (Classic Gueuze dated 7 NOVEMBER 2019) Clear deep golden appearance with a white head. Aroma of barnyard funk, white oak, tart peaches, mild lemon zest and light spicy yeast. Similar flavor, adding mild to moderate acidity with light funky/fruity notes. Light to medium body with ample carbonation, a crisp mouthfeel and a dry finish. Finally.
Tart.
4.0 Dzikie, mineralnie mocno nasycone.
3.8 100% lambic bio, tap at Malto, Riccione, Italy. Pours deep gold, with limited and very fine white foam. Aroma is intense of sweat and fermented fruits. Body is fairly full, with average carbonation. Some astringency. Taste is markedly sour, lactic, but even a little acetic. Final is average in length, with some nice cleaning action.
4.0 Day one of my Beer Gonzo Advent Calendar. Opaque brownish golden colour with a slim head. Aroma berry, fruit and Brett. Taste dry to light sour. Nice balance. Very smooth body.
4.2 Cloudy, golden color and a tiny white head. Sour taste and nose, citric, hints of fruit.
3.8 37,5 cl fles. 5,5% op het etiket. Wazig blond bier met wit schuim. Geur: zuur, hout, Brett, wat melkzuur. Smaak: zuur, citroen, wat hout, lichte noterigheid. Medium koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: droog, zuur.
4.6 03-10-2020 @mas_ibus Torrelavega
3.5 How: bottle Aroma: brett and berry Taste: light sour, fruity, lots of raspberries, balanced
2.1 Tres surette ...boisee
5.0 Golden, slightly hazy, with a thin white head that dilapidates quickly. Typical muggy sour Gueuze aroma. Sour taste, a hint of green apple, then comes the muggy fermentation with an idea of oriental spices. This is Gueuze perfection.
4.2 8 months old. Clear golden yellow color with white head. Aroma of white wine, sour, oak and lemon. Taste has apples, sour, gentle tart. Finishes dry. Medium body, fizzly carbonation. Fruity, refreshing beer with very gentle tart. Amazing. World class
