Cantillon Lou Pepe Pure Kriek

Cantillon Lou Pepe Pure Kriek

Fresh sour cherries (krieken) in two year old Lambiek. We use approximately 300 gr cherries for 1 liter Kriek.
The second fermentation in the bottle is obtained through addition of a liqueur, made with beer and saccharose.

4.4 From bottle at Les Brigittines, Bruxelles, Belgium. It pours reddish, with a minimal, pinkish head. Aroma is cherries, raspberries, other red berries, lemon, tart, notes of something acid. Taste light to medium sour (fruity but sour is anyway marked). Body is light, carbonation is fine.
3.8 Bottle. 2014 cork. 2012 sticker. Ranzani 13, Bologna. Nose has cherry yoghurt. Cherry stone. Cherry juice. Oak. Vanilla pod. New leather. Light funk. Depth of fruit is remarkable. Taste is tart, sharp and super dry. Light and super crisp on the palate. Fairly high acidity. Foamy carbonation. Lots of cherry tartness to finish. Smells fantastic, but the level of tartness is too much for me.
4.5 From bottle at the brewery tasting room, Pours clear blood red liquid, no head, Aroma: light to medium intensity funky notes, ripe cherries, Taste: light to medium sweet, light bitter, medium to heavy sour, ripe cherries, funky sour notes, slightly tanins, overall: excellent
4.8 Bottle at brewery 2015 vintage. Pours darker red than simple Cantillon kriek, some pink head. Aroma is really fruity as if it were fresh squeezed sour cherry juice. Taste is amazingly fresh and tart fresh sour cherries with that Cantillon guezue lemon juice and funk behind it. No foubt the best kriek I've ever had.
4.3 Bottle at Cantillon (vintage 2015). Ruby red color, pink head. Sour/sweet taste with cherry, tart, wheat, berries, earthy notes, a bit of red currant and a bit of syrup. Sour/sweet finish with cherry, tart, red currant, a bit of syrup, earthy notes and oak. Exquisite lambic.
3.9 Sampled @ BXL Beerfest 2018. A hazy dark purple reddish beer with a small off-white head. Aroma of lactic fruits, red berries, grapes. Taste of tart red fruits, berries, lactic fruits, hints of vinegar.
4.5 Draught at BXL Beer Fest. According to Cantillons FB page: "2018 cherry harvest, Lambic 2014/2015 and 2015/2016. Beer taken from the maceration tank exclusively for BXL Beer Fest." Dark ruby body, with a tiny, pink head. Lovely aroma with loads of distinct, sweet, chewy cherries, slight wood. Tastes also great, similar, a bit more wooden. Medium, slick mouthfeel, with a flat carbonation. Finishes perfect, smooth, dry, wooden, with loads of elegant, sweet cherries. Amazing!! Perfectly balanced and smooth to drink, with propably the most lovely cherries I've had in any beer. Almost a nectar like sweet juiciness, while so balanced at the same time, with just enough sourness and dryness. Propably my favourite Kriek ever! Score: 9 / 4 / 9 / 5 / 18

4.1 Pours a brownish red body with a thin head. Aroma is pure cherries. Taste is fresh with a dominant cherry flavour with a subtle sourness. It doesnt get much better than this.
4.5 2015 ed 75cl bottled in basket @ Cantillon, Brussels 2018. Cloudy, murky reddish purple colour, foamy pink head. Really clean and fruity, earthy, not too sweet cherry notes, even a bit vinous, just lightly funky, light-medium acidity, tard tannines. Lingers nicely. Good body, medium carbonation, nicely soft prickly but tard finishing mouthfeel. Re-rate 2018 ed @ Cantillon, 2021. This is one of my favorite kriek's: fantastically clean and fruity cherries, earthy, medium acidity.
4.3 12 sticker. Had this numerous times always too busy to rate. Pours a clear ruby red with a lasting pinkish head. Aroma a citric with sour cherries and drying bretty notes. Taste is mineral, very sour, vitamin pills from the 80’s, sour fruit, extremely ballanced. Citrus aftertaste, cherry skins, drying but still fruity. Endless aftertaste. Love Pepe.
4.0 From a 75 cl bottle, corked and capped, purchased in a bottle shop in Belgium circa 2010. Front bottle label reads 2008, but fine print shows it was bottled in 2010. Poured a cloudy rose color with a fine and small pinkish head. Aromas included almond, cherry and classic gueuze funk. Very smooth and only moderately sour with a dry finsih. This one aged well.
4.6 Piękny aromat migdałowy. Ciało oleiste i smak pięknie migdałowy. Nie ma co najlepszy kriek
4.5 10/11/2017 - 75cl bottle shared by hackobock @Cantillon. Nice red colour with a small pinkish head. Nose is pure fruits, real kriek. Taste is pure fruit too, thick kriek taste, hints of wood, bit dry. It doesn't happen much that I like Kriek beers so much. Really lovely. Maybe it was the good company.
4.5 (2014) Oh man this is impressive. It so intensively fruity (like a fresh cherry pick from the ground and squashed). Great carbonation, wonderful tart to sour palate. Beautiful.
4.2 @ Cantillon BXL Very sour cherry aroma. Taste is sharp acidity with pure cherry juice. Puckering palate. Aftertaste is nice cherry.
3.8 Lou pepe kriek 2014 750 mL bottle at the brewery. This is stark red with pink head. Aroma is acked with funky barn, pepper, fruit vinaigrette with soft and genuine cherry notes. That's not too say the cherry isn't way up front, but it's noticeably mellower with its age. Oak is constantly in the background while tart cherry pie flavors take over. Excellent level of acidity makes this refreshing.
4.3 Pours hazy deep burgundy with low purple head. Aroma of cherries, almond icing, red berries, red grapes. Taste is medium cherry tart with a mild sweet berry finish. Light and crisp body with average carbonation.
4.7 Rating is for 2013 Vintage: Pours deep ruby with pink head. Aroma has lot of cherries, lemon, tart, sour Taste is sour cherries, lemon tart, sweet cherry jam, little funk, dusty, oak. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Review for 2007 vintage: Pours ruby, not as deep as 2013, with slightly pink head. Aroma has lots of dusty cellar, tart, barnyard, red berries, funky. Taste is a lot like the aroma, more sweetness than the aroma, red berries, barnyard, jam.
