Cantillon Oude Lambik

Cantillon Oude Lambik

Please note the age of the sample you are reviewing when entering your rating. While many factors determine whether you have had "Jonge" or "Oude" Lambik, a general rule of thumb is to enter 1 year-old or older lambik under "Cantillon Oude Lambik" and anything less than 6 months-old under "Cantillon Jonge Lambik".

For those between 6 and 12 months of age, you should take in to consideration the character of the lambik. Samples presenting themselves as hazy/cloudy, with some head-formation and residual sugar should be entered as "Jonge Lambik", while those that are drier, higher in clarity and with little/no head formation should be entered as "Oude Lambik".

Ripe apple, quince, some dried fruit, some honey, some spice, yeasty. Barnyard coming through. Flavour is tart and vinous, cardboardy. Not very subtle. Chlorophenols? Apple in the finish. Some astringency. Light acidic. Light body. Puckering. I'm not sure about this one to be honest.

4.2 Serverad ur kanna på bryggeriet. Tack Vignale. Mycket gott.
4.1 It is 12 month old so I put it here yet hazy. F: no at all only several clear bubbles. C: gold, quite hazy. A: malty, bit woody, some apples, bit caramel, cherries compote, cheesy. T: light fruity, woody with light tannins, peach, cheesy, not sour, bit caramel, medium body and no carbonation, very easy drinkable, really enjoyable beer, glass from barrel @ Cantillon.

3.5 Directly fresh from the barrel @ Cantillon brewery, Brussels, 14 months old. Unclear golden, no head. Lime, grapefruit peel, vinegar, old dry white wine, acidity, apple wine. Acidic sourness, some bitter hint. Light bodied, no carbonation, long intense sour finish, palatable and refreshing.
1.3 Vom Fass (Single Barrel 2017-03 non-sparkling 16 month old) im Muted Horn Berlin 2018-08 getrunken. Nein dieses Lambic erinnert sehr an Weinessig. Dazu wirkt dieses non-sparkling fast tot und leblos. Ich glaube mit so was kann ich mich nicht wirklich anfreunden.
4.0 (18 mois, on tap sorti du fût, jaune, nez > moût vin, bouche ∞-plate, raisin blanc (vin blanc sec), rude, bois wet)

2.6 Appearance: Orange with dark golden hue, slight haze. Not much head. Aroma: Tart and sour fruits. Apples? 19th century wooden house that should, maybe, be demolished to build apartments instead. Taste: More tart and sour fruits, slight wood. Ok, I guess. Bought: Trade with Mart - thanks!, 500 ml crowler Info: 1/2-2018

3.4 Sample of 15 month lambic, poured from a jug at the brewery, after the tour. Pours a clear, golden color, with no head. The aroma is lemon peels, yogurt, leather and a bit of musty attic, and white bread. Off-dry flavor, with a bit of tartness and light funk. Medium body, with an acidic, thick feel, and no carbonation. This is a fun, and illuminating experience, but the beer itself isn't great. Flat, funky, and sharp.
4.3 15 month old, at the brewery. Great woody beginning. Sessionable, smooth. Not too funky, fresh, not too sour. Very deep with fruity fresh parts, wood and horse blanket. Fantastic.
