4.0 One of the original Zwanze experiences, this time a lambic fermented with Witbier yeast, a unique and light experience. Perfect for a summer day, this has gone through some ups and downs over the years.. Starting out lacking something and experiencing a bit of a glut around 2011-2012. The last bottle I opened in 2013 had come into its own, rounding out a bit and developing a blunt , mild funk and flat sourness and losing some of the witbeer character. Though still mostly a curiosity, it’s been quite interesting to watch this develop.
4.0 Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Small white foamy head on top of a hazy yellow colored beer. Aroma is mainly if not only oak, white oak... With a sprinkle of citrus. Flavour is mainly oak with some lemon/citrus tones, light tart, light yeasty, some grapes and a hint of something wood chalky. Easy yet difficult! Delicious beer! Aftertaste is a mix of oak, grapes, light tart and some yeast. Low carbo, light spicy tart creamy mouthfeel, medium to fuller bodied and a light creamy light dry texture. Amazingly tasty, seems so simple yet complexity lays in the woody notes.
3.8 Inte det minsta påverkad av subjektiva ting.... Nice. På moeder lambic. Har snudd på aprikos i doften. Högst otippat. Intensiv smak av tunn kall geuze, men väldigt tunn i kropp. Alla smaker är puts väck på nån sekund. Tungt kryss dock.
3.6 Bottle split by myself at Jack Back March ’14 tasting, 06/03/14 from an IP trade cheers to Kevin in Ghent. Hazed orange amber with a moderate white spotting and edgework. Nose is tangy dark fruit, bitter orange, menthol notes, dank woody tones, damp straw, light spice. Taste comprises lemon rind, light spice, straw, orange pithy notes, light musty wood. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, tangy citric sherbet notes in the close. Decent enough but no ’wow’ factor.
3.6 Bottle shared in London - many, many thanks to Colin for this doozy. Pours hazy yellow-gold with a foamy white head. Decent snout, some tangy hay, spritely lemon. Light sweet with dried sweat, lemon rind, a bit of bitter hay. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Moderate sweetness to finish, definitely some age, slight sugary wheat, old lemon, citrus rind. OK.
3.6 Pours hazy blond, three finger white head. Very good lacing. Smell bretty wheat and diaper. Taste very brett forward, light citrus tartness, bit of wet ha Light body Not as sour as expected. Solid

3.2 Bottle at Avenue Pub. Pours a clear yellow with small frothy white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is rubber, funk, and dill. Thin mouthfeel with strong funk and dill pickle flavor with nice lingering tart finish.
4.0 free bottle share @ antwaerps bierhuiske pours fuzzy yellow, small white head. smell is lambic, together with this full, grainy(?? ) ness. low carbo, sour background, but very ’sweet’ up front / tastes more like a comploex lambic, than a geuze . dont get much of the ’white’ character though ...
4.3 750 mL bottle shared by Travlr at the Baltimore Late Late Summer Gathering, 9/14/13. Pours a hazy orange color with a thin fizzy off-white head. Fair head retention. Herbal, spicy, dusty, thyme, dry citrus, tropical fruits, mild dry funk. That’s the aroma, yo. The taste is wheat, tart dry citrus and tropical fruits, peppery notes, herbal notes, my olive in the very back end. Medium bodied, well balanced, lingering tartness. Excellent.
4.1 Bottle. Golden pour with white pour . Light spice, and nice funkyness aromas. Flavors are nice and sour, closer to a cantillon sour than lost zwanze.
3.5 Pours a pale straw in color. Notes of tobacco and wheat. Somewhat floral. Moderate tartness.
3.2 Zwanze Day 2013. Pours light orange. Aroma is pear citrus raunchy. Taste is a symphony, pear hay dirt tart sour. Finish is quick and okay. Mouthfeel is very light and viscous.

3.9 75 cl bottle @ hotel room, Brussels. Rated on 20100720. Golden color, small head. Sour citric fruits and some berries on the aroma, on the taste too. Some yeast and wood also. Sourish palate. Very good.
3.6 75 cl bottle @ hotel room, Brussels. Rated on 20.07.2010 Aroma is sourish with urinal cake and some soapy citrus typical to witbiers. Flavour is sour and somewhat tart with citrus, some urinal cake, earthy notes and hints of spices. A witbier way more sour and tart than usually. Interesting, funky and refreshing.

4.0 750ml bottles provided by Jean & Jean at WLV gathering. Pours golden yellow, white fizzy head that dissipates down to a thin ring around the glass and some faint bubble on top here and there which act as a cap. Nice funk/sour notes, lemon zest, barnyard. Not quite as funky as the nose would suggest. Light hay notes, some bitter funk, slight lemon zest. Slight bitter funky finish. Light, crisp, fizzy carbonation, dry finish.
3.2 Bottle shared at WoSF, 2013. It pours clear golden with a thick white head. The nose is strongly menthol notes, herbal, ice-tea, wheat, peach, nectarine, wood and earth. The taste is lemon, ice-tea, tart granny smith apple, hay, wood and home-made lemonade with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty unusual...smells rather minty. Interesting, but far from their best!
3.2 ivory white head that disappears quickly without lacing. cloudy straw-yellow colour. pronounced aroma that reminds me of a white/green mold on a spoiled orange. the taste is like the aroma but i would also add a dried up mandarin ends bitter followed by a wry aftertaste. medium carbonation. hmm although an interesting experience i can’t say i am a big fan of this edition. bottle 75 cl @ weekend der spontane gisting 2013
3.8 Bottle @ Cantillon, Brussels, shared with Inbreak and ej. Two Zwanzes in one day - this is better than Zwanze Day itself! :-D Pours a clear light golden body with a small white head. Aroma is mild horseblanket, wheat and cereals, hints of straw, grass and lemon. Taste is wheat, cereals, mild lemony tones and hints of horseblanket. Light body, high carbonation. Easy and pleasant drinking, with enough character to make it interesting as well.
3.6 Bottle at Moeder Lambic Fontainas, pours a cloudy light golden with a medium white head. Aroma of barnyard funk, some citrus zest, and some wild yeast. Flavour is quite wild tasting, with notes of brett, some mild white wine notes, wheat and light fruits. Not very lambic-like, which is a change for Cantillon, and One of the lightest beers they’ve done. Great stuff, but misses the complexity of many of their other beers.
3.9 Bottle. Last beer at 33. Pours hazy orange gold with white head. Nose and taste of tart lemon, spicy funk, lactic acid, soured wheat and light fruit. Medium body. Well balanced.
4.4 Thx to Jean at Moeder Lambic St-Gilles ! Head: small, white, foamy Colour: very hazy blond Smell: lots of wheats, a little bit of hops, decent sourness Taste: wheats come first and blend over superbly with the sour and bitterness level of the beer, this is deff. beter than what i’ve expected of a "sour witbier" really nice !
