Fisherman’s Brew is an American Amber Lager, brewed by the docks of America’s oldest seaport, Gloucester, Massachusetts, from the finest 2-row barley imported from Munich, Belgium and England. At 5.5% ABV and a well balanced 30 IBU’s, this smooth lager offers a toasty malt flavor followed by a dry, hoppy finish.
3.1Aroma is a very very faint grassy, sweet smell. Poured a clear amber color with a small white head. Taste is quite intense considering the lack of smell. Is a nice toasty malt, little bit of caramel, and a quick dry finish. Feels light to medium bodied with lively carbonation.
3.2Draft. Cloudy orange color. Smells of nothing. Tastes of fruit and hops. Decent. Not bad
1.7Pours a slightly cloudy light greenish tan with a few suspensions and almost no head. Smells like a lemon tea, or a long island. Flavor is bitter sour carmelized and not my cup of tea.
2.9Draft at Barcade JC. Poured a medium amber/brown body with a smaller sized slightly foamy super light beige head. Aroma of biscut, grains, touch of nuts and citrus. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a quick fading aftertaste. Flavor is the same as the aroma and boring, biscut, grain, hint of nuts and a splash of citrus hops. Drinkable and forgetable.
2.1Not a terrible lager, not grreat either. Drinkable when your other options are inbev products. Smooth and somewhat flavored for a lager.
2.8Can’t comment too much on the color because I had this out of the bottle (boo hiss, I know). There are nice caramel flavors that go well with the malty flavors present here. While this isn’t what I’d long for, I could see this being a very nice beer to have while grilling outside on a summer day. Nothing special, but not bad at all, either.
2.2Pours an orange amber with a thin white head and malty aroma. Taste is of toasty malt, grain, and metallic, pretty simple and lacking anything special in the flavor. Nothing great with this brew
1.8Pours a rusty orange color without an appreciable head. Mild malty nose. Absolutely no taste, very metallic... only tasting this nasty beer because I received it through a beer club. Not for me. Quaff Score 2 / 10
3.1Sample at the Ping Pong, Foosball, and Great Beer tasting on 03/03/2012. Pours a slightly hazy yellow-amber color with a medium white head that evaporates steadily. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of fruit and caramel malt. Light body with flavors of toasted malt, caramel and ripe fruit. The finish is sweet and malty with a slightly hoppy aftertaste. Pretty average overall.
3.0Bottle shared by a friend. Pours clear amber with a medium off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt and earthy hops. Grainy malt flavor with a bit of fruit.
3.3Served from a 12oz bottle from Flying Noodle beer of the month club. The appearance is a pale copper with a chill haze. The nose is fresh barley and pale malts. The flavors follow suite. The barley has a nice rawness to it. Nice toasty almost caramel flavors that develop into a hard candy with some butterscotch tones. Well done lager.
3.0Amber color. Very malty taste. Some slight bitterness. Bit of caramel in the taste. Yum
3.2pale lagers are not my thing, but this was better than most. noticeble difference in this to macros, more emphasis on the bready malts, just enough hops to balance it out in the end. not bad.
2.8bottle: this is what a premium lager should be like, IMO. IMpressive looking pour, clear dark red with a pillowy white head. Nose is cracked grain and creamed corn. Sweet toffee and thick malts with hint of skunk on the finish, a touch of bitterness and burnt sugar
3.4I haven’t called a premium lager impressive yet, but this one truly is. Nice malty aroma with that tell-tale lager smell in the back. Pour was a beautiful clear amber with a one finger off white head. Flavor was big and full (especially for such a low ABV beer). Toasted malt filled the mouth with a slight biscuit and caramel flavor. Just a slight hoppiness in the aftertaste. Not bitter, just balancing. Nice beer!
3.1Poured amber with nice off-white head. Mostly malt nose, hint of pine. Caramel malt sweetness, hop flavor light and light on bitterness, too. Slightly muddy finish. Had with dinner at Roy Moore Fish Shack
3.0Ar: Firm toasty maltiness, some red apple and caramel.
Ap: Amber, slightly hazy, small white head with poor retention.
T: Toasty malt, some light caramel and biscuit - dry with medium bitterness, steely and tea-like, and light cracker notes on the finish.
P: Medium-light bodied with medium-high carbonation - crisp.
O: Nice beer with a pretty substantial malt profile - certainly a session beer - not quite as intensely malty as a Vienna or Marzen, but same sorts of flavors.
3.6This was the best lager I’ve had in quite some time. Just a very nicely balanced thirst quenching beer. I would say it is a throwback to the old days when men were men and women were glad about it.
3.312 fl oz bottle from BOTW (Rochester), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. 21MR11.
App.: Clear deep amber with a large off-white foam.
Aroma: Toasted biscuit, earthy, slightly nutty malts, some bright notes with a touch of metallic tang, caramel, bread crust, a touch of green, resinous hops.
Palate: Medium body, elegant effervescence.
Flav.: Caramel, much fruitier than the nose, nice, berries, tree fruits, a little raisin, very malt-forward, nice (again); dry with restrained bitterness and a clean, malty finish.
Quite drinkable.
3.4a draft pour at the Cape Ann Alehouse. Light clear yellow. Nose of light malts and good fruit. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor is malts and light hops. Good bitter finish. Excellent for the style.
3.1On tap at Yesterday’s Ale House - Newport, RI. Aroma gave a surprisingly strong fruity whiff. Otherwise quiet. Pale amber pour. Flavors are confused. Tight, crisp lagering and then instense fruitiness. I guess I could see this as coming with malts associated with the Vienna style, but they seem above average. Malt body and structure were cogent, but the flavors never jived for me. Otherwise, drinkable.
2.5Nice foamy pour but controlable. Rocky head. Don’t see many lagers with gunk on the bottom of the bottle. Smell is a little lemony at times. Really sharp and rude for a lager, has many ale attributes. It quite bitter bordering on IPA territory if thats possible. Maybe they mixed up the label on this one, heheh. Nasty heavy vanilla er sumthin going on here. I didn’t see the percentile but I bet it rates quite high here. Now I see it has a 50% for overall and a 93% for style, figures. Yes quite big in personality. It says 5% but let me tell you it feels more like 7%. Impressed. Didn’t expect this from a lager, wew.
3.3Bottle. Poured a hazy medium amber with a very small off white fizzy head that was fully diminishing and had no lacing to speak of. The aroma was very light of roasted bread malts, a flowery hop and a leathery yeast with hints of caramel and dried fruit. It tasted sweetly bitter and a little acidic from start to finish with the end having a mild notes of caramel and a slight hint of some fruitiness. Mouthfeel was light to medium in body and oily in texture with a lively carbonation. Overall a nice tasting and refreshing brew.
3.4Bottle. Very good for a lager. Pours a hazy amber with a decent white head. Left lacing. Big, malty nose with some fruity hints to it. Flavor is rich and smooth, heavy on the sweet malts with a touch of caramel. Medium in body with mild carbonation. Some pleasant bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. I would buy again if I’m looking for something light and smooth, well made brew
2.2Thinnish head with floating yeast on top. Aroma is very sweet and malty. Flavor is malty and also sweet, palate is very sticky and has a lingering roasted malt character.
2.2Eh, i didnt think that this beer had anything special too it and really didnt taste like a lager, more like an american amber.
2.6Orange-amber with modest, creamy, beige head / Nose of sour malt / Light to medium body, sour and malty, soft carbonation and a little watery, with fair finish / Simple flavors of sour malt, cooked fruit, and caramel / Below average, for a lager.
2.9Bottle poured a clear amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of graininess, carmel and earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, earthiness and a hint of fruittiness with a smoth carmel finish.
3.712oz bottle. Pours a clear, light reddish brown with a tan head. Aroma of burnt sugar, malt, faint yeast. Surprisingly flavourful for a lager. Tastes similar to Fuller’s ESB. Sponge toffee, treacle, dried fruits with some bitterness. A pleasant surprise! Honestly, if tasting blindly, I would never guess this was a lager.
2.9Orangey color. Aroma of malts with hits of hops. Not all that bad for a lager. A step above the macro brews, but still rather tepid. A safe session beer or one to have for a crowd.
