While being a mild pilsner style beer, Bavarian Lager is our version of a clasic German "Helles" style of beer from Bavaria. Bavarian Lager is pale golden colored with a nice hop character over-laying mellow malt flavor.

3.0[Bottle] Pours gold with a moderate whitish head. Aroma is sweet malt. Flavor is a touch of hop, lager yeast. Smooth and a little bitter.
2.7Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Pour produced a hazy honey colored body with a small white head which diminished quickly. Light bodied with moderate sweetness and little else. Palate has some honey notes with a wisp of hops with little to no aftertaste. Not a beer to be enjoyed ice cold. This beer’s flavor and aroma improves as it warms. Throughout the tasting, I noticed that this lager goes down quite smoothly and does not offend in the least.
2.9Honey gold color with a white soapy head. Very little visible carbonation. Malt dominated aroma with a hint of floral hop and some honey. Flavor is same as the aroma with a tad of spice. Light toffee. The hop provides just a bit of life to the feel that grows as the beer warms.
3.8Bottle poured to glass. Amber, orange brew with small wothe head. Sweet aroma of toasted malt grain and flowery hop. Lacked in head and lacing so a 2 for apperance. Light, smooth mouthfeel and flavor from the malt grains. Long mellow finish.
2.5Just aight. Not crazy about it, but not completely disgusted with it like other lagers. No skunk involved.
2.9Bottle. Big, fluffy head. Aroma of malt and hops- medium yellow in color. Flavor is crisp and slightly hoppy. Taste some crackers, slightly sour in the finish. Well made, but my rating is lower than average only because this style isn’t my favorite- body is a bit too thin and light for my taste.
2.5Bottle. Amber yellow with little yellow head. Not much here sweet malt in the aroma and no real hop presence. A little sweet and tangy with a weak hop offering. nah.
3.0Thick and creamy body, pours a dark brown colour with a amber coloured head. Aroma is of dark fruit, bread and caramel. Taste is relatively smooth, semi sweet with light toasted malt character.
2.612oz, twist-off bottle, Cobalt Blue label. Deep orange to light amber color. Darker for a standard lager, more of A Dortmunder. Stinky, musty, malted pils malts. Flavor is light, thin finishes spicy. Easy to drink.
3.2Capital night at Three Cellars Milwukee.
Light aroma with a bit of pale malts and fruit. malt with some sweetness and a brief fruitiness. Mild, spicy bitterness. Clean, delicate finish.
3.1Dark yellow with thin white head. Mild malty aroma. Malty taste with a semi-dry finish. So-so.

3.2Appearance: Pours a clear, orange-yellow body with a scant white head.
Smell: Light aroma with a touch a pale malts and fruit.
Taste: Pale malts with some candy-like sweetness and a brief, fleeting fruitiness. Mild, spicy bitterness. Clean, delicate finish.

2.7Pours a copper color with a white head. Aroma is pilsner malt, grain, honey, and some herbal hops. Flavor is pilsner malt, honey, grain, and a hint of hops.
3.1Bottle and served in a standard pint glass: lean golden hue with a frothy head and good lace. The aroma has notes of pear esters, bready Vienna malts, a hint of honey and corn, and some herbal hop vapours. The taste displays a moderate sweet bread malt along with a dash of twangy fruit and a dry and metallic hop finish. The mouth feel is sprite yet still soft, almost too dry for maximum refreshment. Solid enough brew.
3.0I’m not a fan of Helles beers, or lagers in general. That said, this wasn’t bad. I just don’t prefer all the malts in them. This had a nice balance between malts and hops, and an appealingly light flavor. VERY sessionable.
2.4Bavarian Lager gets some points for doing a difficult style (Dortmunder), but to me it’s pretty much average in every way. Light grassy aroma. light yellow appearance. Light grassy flavor. I didn’t notice much in the way of hops. Just not my cup of tea.
3.2A bit light for a helles but an ok beer anyway. Gold in color and there is a white head. Good malt flavor and hop balance, almost like a Bohemian pilsner. Saaz hops maybe?
3.2Pours a cloudy amber with light head. A soft bitter hop odor. The taste is soft and clean, but hits with a slight malt taste that is matched with a hop aftertaste. A drinkable beer, but there are still better Dortmunders out there.
3.3Had this beer on 4/22/2003. Aroma is a light malt scent. Color is a fogy gold, with good carbonation and thin head. Taste is mild with an imported malt flavor. Starting with a medium light body it goes down easy with a clean feel. Finish comes on with a nice malt flavor that reminds me of an imported beer, this is followed by a mild hop bitterness and light flavor. This is a nice easy drinking brew.
3.1Pilsner malt and grain aroma, has a slight sweetness to it,otherwisea soft grain hop balanced taste, somewhat timid for capital, but otherwise ok
3.8Pours deep golden with a light, fluffy, big head. Aroma is mildly musky with some wheat qualities. Mouthfeel is good and thicker. Flavor is mildly sweet with some moderate fruit and honey qualities.
2.612 oz bottle. Poured a clear golden color. Head was white and reduced to a thin film. Aroma was of sweet corn and a whiff of honey touched cereal grain. Delicately sweet on the tongue with noble hops dominating the flavor. Pretty much as expected.
2.5sampled on tap during the tasting portion of their tour, i didn’t take much notes but almost all the beers tasted extremely similar. this was the least fav. on the tour but i don’t recall why. just a boring lager i suppose and don’t care.
2.8Pours a nice amber with a good, off white head that leaves a nice lace. Aroma of caramel malts. Taste of light caramel malt, some light hoppiness. Aftertaste was good and clean. An easy drinking, decent beer.
2.6sample at the brewery after the brewery tour. Amber with large white, quickly diminishing head. Banana and sweet. Clean lager flavor. Light, fizzy body. Plain old lager, nothing that exciting about it.
3.1Slightly darker orange color than the special pils. Faint white head. Faint grainy nose. Decent grainy body.
3.1Bottle. Nondescript aroma, but a nice pour, a little orangey with a smallish head. Creamy palate is my favorite part of the beer. Flavor is hops up front, but with a mild finish. Seems over-hopped for a Helles, but I guess it’s "their take on it." Didn’t really get any sweet or malt. I like Capital and this is a decent beer -- but I prefer a truer Helles.
2.912 oz bottle I bought at Friar Tucks in Peoria. Pours a clear orange with a beige head. Nose and flavor are malty with carmel and biscuits. No bitterness or detection of hops. A little too sweet, but clean, crisp, decent.
3.5Picked up 12 oz bottle from Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a clear dark golden yellow with a small off-white head that fades slowly and leaves thin lace in spots. Aroma has some toasted bread with sweet sugary malt, with a combo of grassy scemts and herbal spice. Taste has a medium body malt, lightly crisp and a dry finish. A smooth sweet finish to the palate. Pretty darn good!
