Capital Maibock

Capital Maibock

A bock beer with a beautiful, deep golden hue. Very smooth, this beer has great depth of character, and is an excellent beer to celebrate the end of winter and beginning of spring. Available February through April.

2.9 aroma is almost non existent. flavor is very good with very little after taste. this is a good beer for flavor but falls short on all other categories.
3.8 Dark bronze/gold. Medium head. Hazy. Nice bold body. Strong malt presence. Well done beer. I wish I could get these in Missouri.
2.4 (Backlog) Bottle of fantasy tasting at Paul’s. Golden pour with white head. Light malt, and sweetness, with a touch of spice tones, ugh.
3.6 Draft at Capital Brewery. Pours fairly clear amber. Decent off white head. Aroma and taste is grain and caramel. Okay.
3.3 12oz bottle - nose is caramel and floral. sweet. Easy to drink and smooth. I like the brewery and wanted to try more of their beers. weak style but well represented.
3.1 A very nice springtime beer. Some hops on nose, citrus, but also toasty bread. Flavors of bread, barley, and a little caramel on the palate. Finishes clean with a nice little bit of hop character.
3.4 12 oz bottle poured into a shaker. A doughy, buttery biscuit-like aroma comes off the pour. This subsides a bit and is joined by a light citrus and peach fruitiness. I was also able to pick up some light vanilla notes, and something that resembled dutch apple pie. A hint of a floral quality comes through late as well as a buttery caramel syrup. The beer pours a clear golden orange with a soft, off-white head that reduces to a dishwater thin layer by the end; it does leave an average lacing along the glass. The taste is a medium sweetness with a light / medium-light roasty bitterness that appears only at the finish. The medium bodied beer has an average amounts of soft carbonation (maybe a bit on the flat side) that helps the thinner texture to have a bit of a creamy quality to it. The mouth is mostly a fruity, juicy sweetness a mild roasted nut and grassy finish. There’s a touch of dryness right at the finish, but the aftertaste is mostly juicy - a very light, mellow grassy and resin aftertaste ends up being mostly a mild buttered biscuit taste after awhile.
3.9 Bottle poured a clear orange amber with a small lasting ivory head. Aromas of bread, toasted malt and light fruittiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of bread, toasted malt and light fruittiness with a crisp lingering malty finish.
3.7 Dark Golden with a mild haze and a thin, filmy yet creamy looking head. Nose consists of yeasts, caramel, malts and biscuit notes. Flavor is yeasts, barley, malty sweetness and a slight caramel taste. Body is light and creamy; Carbonation is very mild. A Simple, easy to drink beer.
3.1 Yellow-amber with a white head. Aroma is grain. Flavor is grain and sweet malt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
4.0 Thanks to Dad. Although it is pretty good stuff, I think it may be a little too sweet and chewy at the end when it warms up a bit. Serving: Bottle
2.0 Pours a golden with a white head and aroma of malt. Taste is of malt, grains, caramel, and bread notes with a bitter, medium finish. Not very flavorful or enjoyable
1.7 Pours a clear yellow golden color. Nose is very flat . Taste is grainy and astringent. Very little to no flavor. Bring back the ales !! Quaff Score 3 / 10
3.4 Tap. Orange pour. Aroma of caramel, wheat. Slight bitter. Decent medium body. A slight banana and spice after taste.
3.3 Faint aroma of caramel and malt. Clean burnt orange appearance with quickly disepating head. Nice crunchy flavor of sweet malt, with hints of toffee and caramel. Slight bitter finish that lingers.
3.1 Sweet aroma, with a malty edge. Orange color with a light white ring of a head. Flavor has that same sweetness, which is nicely balanced with nice wheatyness. Palate is dry and frothy, nicely delivering taste.
4.0 Pours a nice clear golden amber with white foam. Has some good looking carbonation going in the glass. Aroma is light malt with a tiny bit of hop. Taste is malt with a bit of sweetness and a little hop to balance it out. Well balanced. Light palate with good carbonation. Overall a great beer. Very clean taste and easy to drink. Overall probably my favorite Maibock. I look forward to it in the spring.
3.5 Stat at World of Beer in Land O Lakes. Clear amber pour with a foamy white head. Nice malty aroma and flavor. Very tasty maibock.
3.3 Hazy light orange with a good sized white head. Light bready aroma, caramel, sweet hay. Grassy and herbal, lightly sweet, easy drinking.
3.5 This beer pours light amber with a clean white head. A lot of visible carbonation. A fruity citrus aroma. Sweet taste with a smooth finish. This beer goes down very nicely. No surpirse it rates so high in its class.
3.7 Warm golden amber with a clean white head and big streaks of lace. Taste starts with a full-bodied semi-sweet caramel malt. As it grows through the palate, soft carbonation joins in until a clean, light, hop-bittering brings everything back into line at the finish. This is a well-balanced brew that is a pleasure to drink. Well conceived, good looking, easy drinking, a terrific light session beer. Highly recommended.
3.3 On tap at the brewery, pours a dark golden/orange with an off white head and some lacing, aroma is sweet with caramel and some molasses, flavor has a sweet front end with a finish of caramel, not terrible.
3.8 A dark gold to light amber with little to no head retention. Aroma is of light floral. Taste is a medium maibock with lingering spice
3.3 Sweetish, cakey malt aroma with some light vanilla and a little twang. Pours a bright orange, with a thin nearly-white head. Good label and cap, twistoff longneck. Nice, even bitterness, not very sweet, maybe a wee bit of brine to it. Medium body, a tad on the light side -- or perhaps that’s just the impression that it gives because it is a clean-drinking brew. A woody-bitter finish. This would be a good barbeque beer -- it’s just a good ’with food’ brew. ABC, Betton.
3.3 Tallahassee, FL - New Leaf Market - 12 oz bottle. Pours a medium copper, light off-white head. Slightly sweet aroma, hints of caramel, a touch of molasses. Flavor is full-bodied and sweet in just the right way. Pick up some nutty notes, a bit of caramel, hints of chocolate, finish of molasses. Mouthfeel is smooth. Overall, nice.
3.4 Nice clear amber red color with a decent head with very little lacing. A balanced beer.
3.3 12 oz bottle pours a clear light orange color with a small white head. Smells of honey, caramel, and flowers. Aroma is pretty much the same, with some grassiness. Easily drinkable. Body is at best medium with noticeable carbonation. This has a clean finish which makes me want to come back for more. Very good, but it didn’t make me say WOW.
3.2 Solid spring beer. Fresh but definitely malt enough to know you’re drinking something with body.
3.1 Very smooth finishing beer. Light refreshing taste. Great balance. Very drinkable and light. Good session beer, even if it lacks some character.
4.0 Out of a bottle. Creamy head and firm dark rich body. Very smooth, enjoyable hop balance. Nice finish. Great seasonal.
