Capital Supper Club Lager

Capital Supper Club Lager

A classic Wisconsin Lager at it’s finest. Harking back to an era where Supper Clubs were In Vogue and Wisconsin had numerous regional breweries making their version of American Style Lagers. You know, back when these types of beers exhibited regional soul. And many of these beers were enjoyed during an evening spent at a local Supper Club, visiting with friends and family and having a good dinner. Supper Club is an eminently drinkable version of a true American Lager. Featuring a greater depth of refreshing malt character than the mass marketed versions of the style, Supper Club is clean yet satisfying.

3.1 Pours a rich straw gold with a medium semi lacy head. Aroma is hay/grass. Taste is clean. Nice malt balance with moderate sweetness. Brief dry finish. Not much aftertaste. Not my style, but pleasant and refreshing.
3.1 Bottle poured a clear gold with a small lingering white head. Aromas of bread, earthiness, light yeast and a hint of fruitiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of bread, toasted malt and light yeast with a crisp finish.
3.2 Bottle - Pours a clear golden with a smallish white head. Aroma of semi-sweet malt. Caramel and grass notes, fairly full and sweet with a clean finish. Enjoyable lager.
3.0 Pours a pale yellow with a thick white head from the bottle that dissipates quickly. Notes a barley in the aroma. No lacing in the glass. Taste is a nice clean lager with a light mouthfeel. Light carbonation in the mouth. Taste is kind of like a light beer. Very nice clean finish.
3.3 From a can poured in a lager glass. Initial slightly sharp bite that is just enough to make it taste quenching. Mellows out into a superbly well balanced lager. Great all-around lawnmower beer. One of the best. Will have to pick some of this up.
2.8 12oz bottle poured into a shaker. There’s an initial burst of lemon on the nose, but this fades quickly and gives way to a crusty bread note. There’s also hints of damp cardboard, and a sugary candy caramel. It pours a clear, effervescent, yellow orange color with an active, soda-like, white head that evaporated very quickly. Small bubbles continue to stream up, but they burst almost as soon as they hit the surface. A very thin, soapy ring is left behind with a clear surface, and no lace. It’s a medium-high, syrupy sweetness with a light bitter note to mellow it out some. The slick, waxy texture has an above average amount of soft, fuzzy carbonation and a medium malty body. Notes of mineral water, a dry, sweet, white wine are noted on the tongue. Some caramel and toasted bread come through more on the finish. The aftertaste keeps the bread and the minerals lingering and the caramel becomes more honey-like.
3.4 Can from Binnys, drunk 4/18/14 Not much head to speak of. White cluster of bubbles runs for the edges. Clear waxy-yellow looking body is well-carbonated. Clean, at least, is the nose. Very little hop character to speak of, but I guess that’s what they’re going for. Maybe a touch of pepperiness. Mostly just white bread sugars from the malt. Touch of vanilla light mineral. Fairly watery, again mostly clean, with some waxiness and vanilla that are perhaps a bit unwanted but none of the majors offenders of the style; dms, diacetyl, acetaldehyde, etc...Well-attenuated and certainly quite drinkable. I guess I was expecting something a little more characterful from Capital, since their other beers are so delicious, but this is what it’s billed as and you can’t fault it for that.
3.3 A very easy drinking lager that represent a good night out at a supper club in WI. Nice amount of hops but enough malt character to balance this lager out. Very clean tasting.
2.8 Light bodied lager with lemony aroma. Easy drinking but not a very complex flavor. It would be a good beer on a hot summer day.
2.8 Clear golden coloured body with a thin two centimetre tall white head. Aroma of lemons, wheat, grass and a bit of metal. Light-bodied; Sharp malt notes with some grain, rice and honey all with a nice malt depth and some metallic twangs near the end. Aftertaste shows some mild malt tastes, a bit of grain and metal, some rice and a bitter finish. Overall, a nice beer for the style, but not great overall - drinkable, of course, but showing a bit too many bitter and deep flavours. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Corner Store (Bait and Tackle) in West Palm Beach, Florida on 30-December-2013 for US$2.39 sampled in my hotel room here in Clearwater, Florida on 03-January-2014.
2.8 From a bottle. Pours clear copper gold with a very thin white head. Tastes like beer, some malt, some grains, pretty light and mild. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like malt and some wheat. Nondescript.
2.0 Bottle shared by friends. Pours clear pale gold with thin, fizzy white head. Aroma is pale malts, light corn, faint caramel, and faint citrus. Flavor is fairly non-existent with some dry malts and faint fruit; dry finish. Light body and low carbonation.
3.1 A clear, golden pour with a minimal white head. The aroma is a little malty with hay and light corn. It has a medium, crisp body with lively carbonation. The taste is sweet with a smooth finish.
2.8 Can to glass. Pretty good for a light lager, but what you'd expect. Nothing fancy.
2.1 On tap @ the Über Tap Room in the Wisconsin Cheese Shop, Milwaukee. Clear light gold, simple light grainy profile, no real hop presence to speak of. Not much to say really.
2.6 Can. Sweet grainy barley malt aroma. Clear yellow with a large white head. Sweet barley malt flavor. Light body, moderate carbonation.
2.2 Can. Corn and barley malt aroma. Golden yellow with large white head. Sweet corn/barley malt and hay flavor. Okay - this is exactly what Wisconsin needed - another mediocre pale lager.
2.5 Can: Clear, fizzy gold with a tall, frothy white head. Honey, grain malt aroma. Taste is malty, sweet grain. Very light.....but, as the logo says."not bad"..
2.5 Pours a golden straw color with a fizzy white head. Aroma is very faint, slight malty sweetness, but otherwise very light on the nose. Flavor tastes like "beer". Very much fall into the American pale lager category, but less corn flavor than most. "If PBR was good" - my girlfriend’s assessment. Not Bad.
2.7 10/1/2013. From can. Pours clear pale yellow with a white head. Aromas of honey, malt, grain, hay. A little sweet or buttery and not overly hoppy on the finish.
2.0 Generic looking straw-colored beer with a small fizzy white head. Slight musty nose with a hint of doughy yeast. Flavor is subtle with a mild grainy flavor followed by a touch of bitterness. This is soda with a little bit of alcohol. Better than Bud Light I guess.
1.5 Nothing special about this beer. It’s drinkable, but you won’t write home about it. A good stand by.
2.9 Bottle from Knightly Spirits, Kissimmee, Florida. This is a pale golden lager with sweet fruit and malty flavours, grassy notes and a creamy toffee finish.
3.3 It isn't stand out amazing but does show depth that isn't typical in a lager. Had from a can but can easily imagine a better experience from a draft or bottle.
2.7 Very clear pour with only a bit of frothy head. Aroma contains toasted malt and bit of roasted malt. Light strawy finish but nothing amazing
2.8 Sweet, just a little spicy hops in the finish. Light and smooth. Light citrus. Grass. Some corn/butter. Pale malty. Not bad. Better than a macro...
1.8 Bottle at a pizza joint. Stay away from this one - I do not want to join this club.
3.2 12oz Bottle. Hands down the best Pale Lager ever. Creamy malt aroma. Flavors build on the single traditional malt base and stay steady. There’s this beautfiul soft creamy quality to Capital’s lagers and the application here brings this beer to another level for the style. Rich, well built, satisfying, drinkable and reverent. Fine lagering.
2.0 Hazy Darker Shade of Yellow, Medium Head Some Lacing. Sweet malt and Yeast. Something Funky about it. Tried it on a couple of different occasions, seems consistent. Got to be the style or out of date, since there is nothing marked on the label. As it is , tolerable but not pleasant. Pass it...
2.6 Just an average lager. Nice golden color with a crisp taste. Like the label says, "Not Bad" but not great.
