This lager like ale is modeled after the official beer of Köln, Germany. Kolsch is delicate and refreshing with a slight fruitiness and supportive, yet unobtrusive hop bitterness

3.0On tap at the brewpub.
Clear golden body. Slightly more tart, lemony and hoppy than average for style.
3.4Farbe klar, goldig. Geruch malzig und hopfig. Im Geschmack leicht sauer und röstig. Guter bitterer Abgang.
3.3Der Geruch ist sehr malzig. Auch im Geschmack kaum Hopfenaroma aber viel Malz, gefolgt von einem relativ bitteren Abgang.
3.5From notes. It was a warm day, I had biked there, I wanted something summery, I expected this to be better than it was.
2.8Pours clear golden with one finger head with moderate lacing. Mildly sweet with mild bitterness. Hint of fruitiness in the nose. Crisp finish. Not bad
2.93/10/15 Draft (Capitol City Brewing Co. DC) - Light blonde colour and carbonation. Minimal aroma. Taste of grassy hops, not very strong in terms of texture or feel. Mild carbonation. Grab it when you want something very light.
2.5Bland and watery. Lots of straw, some very mild citrus. Tried this at the DC beerfest with Jess, Mark, and Matt in 2014.
3.0Draft. Golden with small white head. Aroma of corn, sweetness, and DMS. Light body with some sweetness, grain, and a light bitter finish. Sweeter than your typical Kolsch.
3.6Like a normal kolsch but sweeter. Easy drinking, refreshing, and an overall good beer.
3.021 nov 2013, tap at Capitol City Brewing. Pale yellow, clear, no bubbles. Nose is sweet straw lager malt. Thin body and moderately fizzy, crisp. Sweet straw, faintly bitter finish.
2.8Draft at the source. Clear golden yellow color, medium whitebhead. Aroma of hay, light apple. Taste is bitter straw. Light body. More boring than your average koelsch.
2.0På fat. Ljusgul med vitt skum. Väldigt svaga dofter av gräs och lime. Tråkig och vattning smak med gräs, vitt bröd och viss maltsötma. Kolsyrig munkänsla.
3.1On tap at Capitol City, Downtown location in July 2006. Pale straw colour. Not too much to it but clean and crisp. Refreshing on the palate. Just a slight, gentle underlying hop bite. I’m not often a big fan of these brewpub Kolsch efforts but this one hit the mark well enough.
2.5Draft at brewpub. Pours clean yellow very little head or lacing. All hay with some honey.
3.1Draft. Clear light gold color. Earthy. Average carbonation. Slight sweetness to it. Slight caramel. Ok
3.2On draft at Capitol City Brewing Co. in Virginia.
The beer is transparent and pale yellow in color with a quarter inch of white head. The aroma indecent for the style, offering bread, grain. Smells like a German lager, which is a good thing. The flavor is simple and straightforward, with some biscuit and toast notes. Thin bodied, the beer finishes with a light hop bitterness. Overall, pretty good. I would have this again.

2.3Tap at the Shirlington location. Pale yellow pour, very clear. Minimal head. Light corn, minor carbonation, not my favorite here.
3.0From tap at the DC location. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is grassy and light cornish. Grassy, bitter and light cornish. Dry and grassy finish.
2.7Sample at the brewery - Golden yellow with lacing. Has a transparent taste. Nothing special.
3.2Very light pale color, almost no head retention. Taste nuty, very dry. Something unpleasant in the palate that stays in the aftertaste.
3.6A light airy Kolsh with a mild cereal grain and floral aroma. Very pale straw yellow with a hint of maple syrup. Light floral tones in the flavor. Silky smooth mouthfeel. Lightly tart delicate finish.
2.5On tap at Capitol City Brewing - Downtown, October 2011.
Clear yellow with a small white head. Aroma and taste of fruit, malt and some grain. The body was light as was the carbonation. Drinkable but not that exciting.
3.2Draught at the brewpub. No aroma to speak of. Clear shiny yellow colour. Small white head. Good malty flavour with a hint of fine hops. Faint hint of sourness in the finish, but not problematic. Not as clean and crisp as a real Kölsch, but OK.
2.7This might be my least favorite out of the flight I had. Pretty average with a light aroma, flavor and body.
2.6Draft @ the Capital Hill location. Pours a clear yellow color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty grainy aroma. Fruity dry malty grainy flavor with weak hoppy hints. Has a dry grainy finish.
2.1Sample @ Brewpub, Capitol Hill
Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, grain and hay. Taste is light sweet. Body is light, texture is thin, carbonation is soft.
2.6Pours straw yellow from tap. Not a lot of aroma. The taste is dry but not very hoppy. Nice carbo to the mouth feel although it lingers a little longer than I like.
3.2Reviewed from notes. On tap at the Union Station location.
Pours light yellow with some visible carbonation and a white head. The nose brings forward light grains and some very mild fruit. The taste is quite similar, as there isn’t much other than a tiny bit of grain. Very faint light fruit. Feel is nice and crisp; very refreshing. Drinks quite well and was a nice beer even on a cold Fall evening.
