Our American style pale ale is medium to full bodied with an assertive hop bitterness and aroma. The flavor and fragrance of American hops mush with a strong malt backbone.

3.1Goldene, klare Farbe. Geruch vor allem hopfig. Im Geschmack rel. Trocken, dazu ein sehr bitterer Abgang.
2.9Aroma recht schwach aber vornehmlich nach Gras und frischen Früchten. Geschmack sehr bitter, fast etwas seifig.
2.6This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were very quickly diminishing and left behind a very softly carbonated transparent light yellow orange colored body and a fair lacing. The weak aroma was malt hop. The mild citrus semi-flat thin mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish with a mild hoppy aftertaste. The semi-sharp flavor contained notes of mildly bitter candy and hops. An OK brew just nothing special.
3.1Pours a clear dark golden color with one finger head and moderate to heavy lacing. Aroma of toasted malt, herbal hops. Moderately bitter. Medium bodied. moderate carbonation. Medium bitter finish.
3.23/10/15 (Draft Capitol City Brew Pub) - Dark copper pour, minimal head. Light aroma, nice malt and citrus taste. Mild carbonation, light feel and texture. Overall OK beer.
3.4on tap at the brewpub; clear amber color; citrusy aroma with caramel notes; citrusy hops on a medium bodied caramel malt base
2.7Pours a cleat amber-orange. Has a very faint aroma of light fruit. Has a citrus hop, grain, pine, and caramel malt taste. The caramel malt taste lingers with some bitter hop aftertaste.
3.0Light, somewhat hoppy, with an off-putting aftertaste. Overly sweet, some canned corn. Tried at the brewery in 2014.
3.4Pretty good, with some tangerine and pine. Both this and the Unite were good pale ales at the brewpub. Pours light amber with good head and lacing. Medium bitter finish, good balance with malt. Tap.
3.2Draft at the brewpub. Pours clear amber with a small white head. The aroma has some nuttiness, caramel, citrus. The taste has medium bitterness followed by a nitty malt balance. Decent.
3.221 nov 2013, tap at Capitol City Brewing. Light gold, clear, occasional bubbles. Nose is mild grapefruit and faint bubblegum. Copper malt and some grapefruit hops. Ok.
2.9Draft at the source. Clear light golden amber color, small white head. Aroma of subtle citrus. Taste is light citrus, light body.
3.6På fat. Bärnstensfärgad med vitt skum. Dofter av tropisk fruktighet och karamell. Karamell, kåda, grape och apelsin i smaken. Något svag sötma, fin beska. Fyllig kropp.
2.9(US backlog Sep 2012) Draught@Capital City Brewing, Downtown DC 12/09/2012. Somewhere between a UK bitter and Magic Hat’s interpretation of a fruity IPA. Rather flat carbo. Ok but forgettable, bar and service enhancing the anonymity of their brews. 70/100
3.6On tap at Capitol City, Downtown location in July 2006. Gingery orange colour. A quite poky (abv-wise) APA, drifting more into IPA territory. Good clean Mouthfeel. Plenty of pungent hops throughout. Some spicy, tangy notes on the palate. Maybe some orange peel. Slight residual sweetness on the finish but not too stick. Very solid.
3.9At grill. Fairly clear. Slight haze decent aroma. Really good tasting crisp brew. A little astringent but I actually thought this was not a downer. Crisp finish. I could hang out at the bar and drink this for a long time.
2.7Draft at the brewpub. Clean amber with thin white head and lacing. Metallic flavor. Hoppy but no good flavor or aroma, some pine. Some caramel malts, fairly bitter
3.4Draft. Dark golden color. Floral and pine hop aroma. Medium bitterness. Good texture. Med light body. Bitter finish. A nice hoppy pale ale. Pine notes throughout.
2.9On draft at Capitol City Brewing Co. in Virginia.
Th beer is transparent and light orange hued with a quarter inch of head. As the head recedes, it coats the glass with lacing. The aroma is a balance of malt and hops, with subtle notes of candied fruit. A bit sweet, with a light bitterness in the back. Light bodied but not thin with appropriate carbonation. Simple, drinkable. Overall, this was ok.

3.3Tap at the Shirlington location. Clear rich orange pour with a spotty head. Earthy and floral, good caramel malt backing. Pretty solid brew.
3.5On tap at Capital City. Good pale ale aroma and taste. A little on the muted side. Was looking for a stronger hop presence.
3.7On tap at brewpub. Clear orange amber with a short-lasting white head. Tastes like caramel, biscuits, fruits, orange and lemon. Very lemoney, yet somewhat light bitterness in the finish. Lemon taste remains for a while. Medium-bodied, somewhat sticky, resinous mouthfeel. Good pale ale.
2.6Some grapefruit and pale malt in the nose. Clear golden with small white head. Aggressive bitter dark finish does not match the rest of the beer.
3.1On tap at Capitol City Brewing - Downtown, October 2011.
Clear light amber with a small head. Aroma of fruit, caramel, citrus and hops. About the same in the taste. On the thin side with a dry and rather bitter finish.
3.5Draught, 6.1%. Vinous hop aroma. Seemingly clear amber colour. Almost no head. Teaish hop flavour, nicely caramelly. Clean bitterness, not so high.

GBBF. Cask. Light haze on this amber beer. Small bubbly white head. Light semi dry palate. Good hoppy fruit, not too bitter. Orange - tangerine and traces of mango and other tropical fruits. Good stuff!
3.4Cask@GBBF2011. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, floral and mildly nectary and wooden as well. Flavour is wood, some honey and mild sweet malts. Some sweet zesty notes as well. Nectary, malty and honeylike finish.
3.2Very smooth and drinkable. The flavor is stronger than you might expect but not overpowering. The flavor is matched well with a lighter body and pale malts that hold up to the mild hops and 6.2%. Pretty good.
3.3Cask (gravity) @ GBBF 2011, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.
Light unclear medium orange colour with a small, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, pine, resin, orange - citrus, grass. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, fuel alike notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20110805]

Stagnant hops and sweet american something in the aroma (Anna, are you drunk?) Peach aroma. Orange colour, minimal head. Tastes of light fruits, sweet juicy ones. Not so much in the finish, a bit dull. Didn’t work for me.
