3.3Bottle from Whole Foods PM. Hazy gold pour with white head. Nose is pale malt, some breadiness, lemon zesty citrus, hops. Tastes like a lighter APA, more bready with assertive hops and some citrus.
3.5Outstanding but not much like a kolsch. Hopped up version. Dark clear orange. Clean malty nose. Had on a brief stop in Brooklyn.
3.4A slightly hazy pale golden coloured beer with a weak white head. A light malt aroma, slightly spicy and a hint of oily hop. Dry mouthfeel. The taste starts off with the oily hop element, grassy and piney, a touch of citrus fruit and a background biscuity malt flavour that leaves a smoother taste in the finish. Draught at The Beer Authority, New York.
3.3Draft at the brewery, 7/12/15
Quite surprised I’d never rated this one. Clean, malty aroma. Some bread and yeast notes. A bit of caramel, and German hops. Clear gold with a white head. Crisp, but maybe a hint less clean than it could have been. Still, very solid.
3.3Neben dem leichten Hopfenaroma erkennt man deutlich die für Kölsch typischen Schwefelverbindungen. Geschmack ebenfalls Sorten typisch. Ich bin kein großer Kölsch-Fan...
4.3Hell, leicht trüb. Geruch vor allem nach kräuterigen Hopfen. Im Geschmack dann recht trocken, leicht malzig, leicht bitter. Dazu ein bisschen fruchtig. Top.
3.0On tap poured into a shaker. the aroma as a bit of a stone / mineral quality to it with hints of grass and an even lighter apricot juicy sweetness hidden in there. It pours a clear, effervescent pale yellow with a foamy white head that has decent retention and lace. The taste is a medium bitter with slightly less sweetness. The texture is thin and zippy with a bit of a slick wax quality to it. The light body is flavored with mineral water, bitter spice and fruit, and a hint of grass that strengthens during the crisp dry finish that’s acidic and a hint of spice. The aftertaste is that of mineral water and muffin dough with a hint of wax that is mellow, but has a moderate length to it.
2.8On tap at Khyber pass pub. Maybe underwhelmed due to recently trying CBS.
Yellow color, small head. Slight hops, yeast, grass.
Ok.
2.9I’m not a fan of the style, but for the style, I think it’s quite nice. Pretty much as others have described, reminds me quite a bit of a pils.
3.8Pours a gold pale with modest head that quickly fades. Aroma has little Pils or sweetness. Slight yeasty, bready nose. Medium mouthfeel with clear noble hop bitterness in the foreground. Fades slightly with lingering bite aftertaste.
3.1Pours a clear straw yellow color with aroma of grass, lemon, and yeast. Lemon, grass, and yeast flavor. Easy drinker and quite flavorful for a kolsch.
2.512 oz bottle from BOTW (Rochester), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
App.: Light golden with lots of fine floaters and a lacy bright white head.
Aroma: Appropriately subtle graininess, fruitiness, with a woodsy character, faintly herbal and a touch of diacetyl.
Palate: Medium body, relaxed carbonation.
Flav.: Subtle like the nose with similar flavours, still has some diacetyl (unfortunate); dry with gentle bitterness and a grainy malt finish.
I’m surprised to detect diacetyl from this brewer...otherwise, a decent Koelsch.
3.5Light crisp aroma with some fruit and light yeast notes. Flavor is very clean with fresh malt and light hops. Body is crisp. A little bitter aftertaste.
3.7On tap at the Engine Room in Mystic CT
Comes to the table in a tall cylinder a slightly hazy light golden color with a decent sized bubbly white head. Sweet bready pilsner malt with spicy floral hops to balance. Sweet bready flavor, nice crisp hop bite. Great little beer.
2.6Bona cervesa, és bastant equilibrada i gustosa.
Buena cerveza, es bastante equilibrada y sabrosa.
3.1Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a white head. Nose is sweet malt, light grass, mild fruit, and some yeast. Flavor follows the nose with some malt, yeast, and mild grassy hops. Finish lingers with yeast. Light body and very sessionable and refreshing. Not a fav of mine or Erica. Back to more IPA’s.
Zzzzz.
3.3Bottle - Light citrus and honey notes. Hazy yellow gold with a decent white head. Light grains and sweetness with a crisp citrus finish.
3.5On tap at Beer Authority in New York. Rating from September 2013. Nice easy to drink Kolsch and it would be easy to drink a few of these.
3.0Pours a pale yellow. Has a faint aroma of spices and malt. Taste unique with a mix of malts, hops, spices, and oak. A woody and spicy aftertaste.
3.3On tap at the Mets game. Go Phils. Plenty of potent hop in this one. Light zest, spices, coriander, peppercorns, rice and malt. Refreshing chill session beer. Good stuff.
3.0Fra flaske, Fattty Crab i new York. Gul og gylden og let uklar. Næsen er frisk og grøn med noter af græs, hø og en let maltsødme. Crisp finish. Ikke nogen stor øl, men den spiller maks på en af årets første varme forårsdage i New York.
2.6Drought. Pale yellow with white foamy head, doughy aroma, a bit stale taste, low carbonation, abrupt finish with a bit of sour aftertaste. Not a very inspiring beer.
2.6Bottle, room 212, 19/02/14. Slim-necked pale gold. Scent of rubber, match box strike pad, struck matches. Marginally better flavour with minerals and lemon cake yeast; possibly hops, rounded with a popcorn-like, crackers and biscuit finish. Misplaced bitterness and almond. Hard to drink and inauthentic. Although the malt flavours are good.
3.3Pours gold with a medium fizzy white head that quickly settled. Aroma is citrus, earthy and floral. Taste is crisp bitter into sweet finish. Light bodied, clean finish.
3.1Bottle, BBOTMC. Hazy orange with white head, mandarin, floral aroma, bitter, crispy and fruity taste, medium-to-full body, carbonated, bitter, hoppy finish. Tasty but far from Kölsch.
3.4Draft at BobWhite Counter w Erica 12.08.2013. Pale, dull brass color, thin white head. Nose is a little metalic with some yeast and pils. Tastes a little buttery and sweet, yet has a discernable bitterness. Grain and pils. Clean palate, crisp.
3.3Crisp lagered smell. Pale yellow from bottle, a few fingers of foam. Hint of citrus in a very drinkable beer.
3.3Bottle at home. Pours clear gold with a medium, frothy and fizzy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is Pils malt dominant, light earthy and spicy hops, grain and meal malt with DMS notes. Flavor is Pils malt and corn/DMS dominant with light hops and bitterness, a clean lager character and a dry finish. Light body and moderate carbonation.
3.2Pours yellow slightly hazy with a nice head, aroma of yeast, grain, sweetness and floral tones, flavor of malt, slightly herby, clean and crisp wit a medium body, nice
