Carnegie Stark Porter

Carnegie Stark Porter

Bottle: Filtered.

One of Michael Jackson’s 500 Classic Brews. Carnegie Porter was brewed for the first time in 1836 and tastes the same today as it did then. Carnegie Porter has a creamy head with a scent of coffee. Its sweet and wellrounded flavor is balanced by the bitterness of the hops. Storage helps the flavor mature and enhances its harmony.

3.1 Shared with Wim at my home. Brown colored beer with small off-white head and no carbonation and no carbonation. Malty coffee aroma. Full sparkling palate. Finish malty coffee.
3.4 On a Viking Ocean Cruise. Black with small beige head. Aroma is chocolate, medium body, medium/lower carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is nice cocoa.
3.0 Rätt ok porter men ingen superhöjdate
3.0 Helt ok men inte mer smak än 3,5% varianten
4.1 500ml bottle, drunk in 2016, but purchased from Beers of Europe close to a decade earlier. Aroma of dark chocolate, dates, figs, prunes, light coffee and caramel. Dark malt, toffee, fruit cake and maltloaf flavours. Good body.
3.8 Bottle at Fortnight Wine Bar in Providence RI. Dark dark brown-black, glints of deep amber, light-brown fine head that fades to a thin film slowly - looks nice. Aroma is chocolate, bread crust, some cherry, bit of caramel, more bread. Delicious balance of dark and caramelized malt! bit of grassy hops to balance. Body is medium-light weight, syrupy, medium-coarse bubbles with light burn. Flavor is very clean bread crust, some cane sugar, bit of herbs and grass, touch of caramel, cherry and apple. Yummy, but not as intense as the aroma.
3.4 Aromas of chocolate and mild coffee. Roasted flavors on the mild side. Rather light bodied for a porter. A slight tartness, giving an interesting sweet-tart character. Good but a bit too light bodied and light flavored for my tastes.
3.3 Mild smak och väl kolsyrad. Lite rökig smak. Ingen eftersmak alls nästan.
2.6 Bottle from Systembolaget to. It's a trap! I wasn't warned this is Carlsberg. Pours almost black with beige head. Aroma has sweet roasted malts. Metallic flavors on a tongue, sweet, apple? Bit fizzy. Unimpressed.
3.6 Søt,middels fylde en middels porter
2.9 The deeply rosted malt gives the beer a lovely dark look and a light smokey caramel flavour. I tasted this porter when it was 2 year old and I think it only gets better with more years.
2.8 0,33l bottle. Pours dark brown with beige head. Vague aroma of roast and coffee: Taste is roast, coffee, slight dark fruit, cocoa. Not a lot going on in this. The mouthfeel & carbonation is where it should be though.
3.8 0,33 l bottle. Im not a biggest fan of porter style, but sometimes its good to drink and it is very ok porter
3.7 0.33 bottle @ Polens Ambassad Black with a small, tanned head. Aroma of dark malts, some roast, some bread. Taste is sweet, malty, some licorice, some fruits. Medium, creamy, lively. Finish is medium long, a tad sour, balanced. Overall, fruity for a porter, but at the same time more refreshing and not as one-sided.
Proefglas
4.1 Aroma kaffe, røsted malt, vanilje, lakris. Utseende mørk brun med beige skum. Smak kaffe, vanilje, røsted malt, lakris, nøtter. Middels fyldig, god sødme, fin nyte på kvelden øl. Flaske kjøpt på Systembolaget Storheden Luleå, 33cl 5,5%
3.5 Pours black with a one finger, tan head. Aroma is heavy cocoa, coffee and some smoke. Taste is brown sugar and chocolate, moving roast and cafe au lait. Finish is smooth malt. A taste Baltic.
3.5 Smell of roasted malt. Dark brown colour, brown head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, some vanilla. Sweet with some bitterness. Wild carbon. Very strong body for this ABV.
Smaczne.
3.9 Aromas of coffee, caramel, chocolate. Brown-black with a fairly lasting beigehead. Lightly sweet, flavors of coffee, chocolate syrup, toffee, nutty, light earthiness like a tree branch. Medium-full bodied.
3.8 Fles 50cl thuis. Suikers, caramel, aangename zoetheid, koffie, wat romig en weeïg. (11-2014).
3.6 This is a decent imported porter, with that European feel and all, but didn't think it was quite worth anything near the price tag. Dark brown, near black appearance that is on the thinner side. Very malty, hardly any hops. Also noticed some honey in the flavor, so it reminded of a honey porter....or an old-style porter. Not that much carbonation. Bottle said good until 2016, so maybe needed some more time. I could see myself drinking this in England or Sweeden, but doubt I'd buy again here.
3.6 above medium roasted sweet caramel aroma. small tan head, almost black color. tasted sweet caramel, light bitterness, a little too sweet. medium body, not thin, a little slick.
3.4 Aroma: Chocolate and coffee. Appearance: Brown/black color with clear liquid and tan head. Taste: Medium bitterness. Palate: Light body with thin texture and average lively carbonation. Bitter coffee finish. Overall: Too much carbonation, soft features and a lightly metallic feeling. Goes with snacks and spicy meats.
4.5 12-01-2018; bottle; at home (bought somewhere in Sweden). The looks of the beer are amazing. It looks just like a Baltic Porter should look like. The beer looks like it is pitch black on the eye. At the bottom of the glass, a lovely ruby red glow can be seen. On top of the beer there is a nice layer of light brown foam. The foam is soft and creamy. Foam retention is average. A lovely thin drape is left on the beer. Nice. The smell of the beer is lovely. It has that perfect Baltic Porter smell. It is filled with strong malty aromas. I smell nice rich salted caramel, roasted coffee, some chocolate, rich toasted malts. Nice. There are also some nice touches of liquorice and also some nice herbal hops. They aren't to strong, but they give a lovely balancing touch to the malts. I love the nice raw malts in here, with that nice savoury note. Great. The taste of the beer is very nice. It is well balanced. The beer has a nice full malty flavour, being sweet, with a bitter toasty edge and some savoury notes. The coffee touches also give bitters and salts. Chocolate also gives a nice sweetness. Hops also give some nice bitter notes. Hops are also not to present in the flavour, giving space for the lovely strong and robust malts. Well balanced. The palate of the beer is lovely. The beer has a nice full body, but it is not to heavy. It is smooth and creamy, with low carbonation. The finish is very nice. It is full with toasty malts, coffee and chocolate and just a hint of hops. It is of nice length. All in all, a lovely beer till the very end. I'm happy.
3.3 Aromat paloność, kawa, czekolada, słód. Barwa czarna, piana niska. W smaku czekolada, słód, kawa, paloność, ciemne owoce. Goryczka niska, wysycenie średnie do niskiego. Dobre.
3.6 2017 bottle from Systembolaget, badged as Porter Klass III. Pours black with a tan foam and aromas of cocoa and a little toffee. Dry-sweet and lightly roasty, more cocoa and a touch of red fruit. Slightly cloying texture, but otherwise this is a well judged and tasty Porter.
2.7 Bottle 5,5% color is black with a small beige head. Aroma of hops coffee and chocolate taste of coffee and chocolate, with a bitter sweet finish. It is an ok porter
