True to it’s roots, this American IPA delivers on the floral, hoppy notes that made Cottonwood a Boone favorite. 100% malted barley and copious amounts of Cascade, Magnum, and Chinook hops do the trick, artfully brewed by Foothills

3.1From a bottle poured an amber color with a fair amount of head. Nice hoppy flavor with a lasting finish.
3.2Serving: 12 oz. bottle from a local store in Hatteras.
Aroma: The nose is lighter than I was expecting with notes of pine and a touch of caramel.
Appearance: It pours a slightly hazy amber color with a decent pillowy, off-white head. The head leaves decent lacing.
Taste: The flavor is straightforward with notes of pine resin and caramel. Rather two dimensional if you will. The bitter aftertaste really lingers and becomes a little unpleasant.
Palate: Medium bodied with average carbonation leading to a lengthy dry and bitter finish.
Overall: Pretty flat and unimpressive, especially in a crowded category. You aren’t missing anything if you skip this brew.
3.0medium brown with large white head, citrus hops. Firm bitterness before mild to moderate hop flavor before a lot of low crystal hops. Below average version
2.8Almost no aroma. Small head And well carbonated. Taste is hoppy and floral with dry bitter finish. Not too much crazy going on to get excited about but a solid beer.
2.9Poured dark amber no head smelled weak alcohol after taste tasted of hay and grass drinkable but not great
3.0Pours a beige, lacing head with a golden-amber body. Aromas of caramelized malt and old hops. Flavor is much the same. Sweet, slightly sticky and bitter finish.
3.2Picked up a six pack while I was in Knoxville. Aroma was of some earthy hops along with a subtle fruitiness and some wood. Flavors were similar, some decent hop flavors, just a bit too laid back and a bit rough around the edges. Carbonation was a bit too much. This stuff finished dry as a bone with a good bitter finish. A very forgettable IPA.
2.8On tap at the Charlotte, NC airport. I’ll start b y saying that I’ve had plenty of regular APAs that were hoppier than this beer. I got a 22 oz pour and immediately wished I’d gotten something smaller. Disappointing.
2.8Not much aroma and a muddy palate. This beer is ok but nothing special. Got it in asheville nc.
3.5Served from bottle into Stone nonic. Pours a deep brown with apparent sediment throughout with a minimal off-white head. There was no apparent lacing. The aroma was comprised of malt and hops. The flavor was light on the hops with a sour malt presence with a crisp finish. It was medium on the palate with medium carbonation. Overall this was a nice brew. It could have used more flavor and aroma notes to make it much better. However, it was not a bad brew and is worth trying if you get the chance.
3.112oz. Bottle from trade with Suttree: Aroma of diacetyl, caramel malt, and light hops. Poured amber in color with a small, tan head that lasted throughout. Clear. Lightly sparkling. A few small particles. Ok lacing. Flavor is medium bitter and lightly sweet. Tastes of diacetyl, hops, malt, slight caramel, and slight citrus. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Diacetyl, light hops, and slight caramel malt finish is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Too much butter!
2.3From bottle. Light hoppy notes, just a bit of floral character, with quite a bit of chalky astringency and stale paper. A bit of sweetness and some metallic notes along with a bit of soap. Dark brown-amber clear, with off-white foamy lacing head. Medium watery body with medium carbonation. Starts with a bit of caramel and biscuit, followed by some muted bitterness. Some light carbonic acidity and floral hop flavor, but bitterness is muted. Finish is rather smooth, with very little going on in the aftertaste.
3.3Pours a clear brown amber with small bubbly manilla head. Aroma is slight citrus with malt sweet base - bit faint. Flavor dry and bitter, slight malt malt with some caramel sweetness and a slight citric hoppy finish. Overall, decent - better than the other 2 beer by this brewer I’ve tried.
3.8@Knoxville Brewers Jam-on tap-pours a tan head and amber color. Aroma is herbal/resin hops, some medium malt, roasty. Taste is herbal/resin hops-nice bite, secondary medium malt-roasty. Good carbonation.
3.3Bottle. Aroma, nice spicy, hoppy smell. Taste, actually one of the better IPAs I have had nice flavor. Not overly bitter. Recommended.
3.4On tap at the Charlotte Airport, Carolina Bar. Semi-clear amber with small beige head. Aroma is nice citrus with bubblegum and dry caramel. Flavor is medium to large bitter pine, citrus, grapefruit, off-dry caramel, toast with drying bitterness, nice. Medium, creamy body. Very nice.
2.912 ounce bottle. Pours a clear copper color with lots of floating particles. Medium head with fair head retention and lacing. Citrus hop aroma with some caramel malts. Taste is pine and minty hop notes with a citrus finish and some toffee. Thin-medium bodied
3.2Had this while visiting TN on vacation. Big malty backbone, but low hop profile for the style.
Re-rate 4/22/11. 12oz bottle. Still overly malty without very much hop profile. Perhaps both bottles I had were a little old, but perhaps this stuff just isn’t great.
3.3Nice resinous, can tell there’s cascades. very piney. could use a little more depth. body is a bit carbonated and light, there is a lot of backbone for the hops, but the hops are nice and interesting. good to drink.
3.1Bottle Pours a hazy orange amber with a thin off white head. The head laces okay but deminishes quickly. Has a decent aroma of sweet malts and hoppy citrus. Has a good carbonation. The flavor is okay but not as hoppy as I would have hoped for. Has a medium body. The texture is watery. Has an okay finish with a weak aftertaste. Not awful but not what I was hoping it would be.
3.5Location: 12 oz bottle from Total Wine in Richmond poured into a pint glass, 7/6/09
Aroma: Mostly earthy hops, a bit of grapefruit, and some light caramel as well
Appearance: Dark amber-like color, lots of sediment floating in this beer, some minor lacing on the glass, a nice looking beer
Flavor: I taste a nice amount of hops here, some light grapefruit sweetness in the finish
Palate: A nice body on this one, it has a nice flow
Overall Impression:
A good brew, wasn’t particularly excited by the nose, but the taste was nice, and it was a really nice looking beer with an above average palate.
3.6on tap at CBC d terminal of the charlotte airport.
hazy coppery brown pour with an off white head and a ladder of foamy rings to let me know where the beer once was.
lux leafy hoppy aroma (could have been due to the fact that everything for the last five hours smelled like armpits on the plane), caramel grain, earthy dryness, spice and slight pine.
the flavor follows..., perfume, earthy, really dry, crisp and refreshing with a non resinous pine finish which lingers.
medium bodied with sharp carbonation. 7/4/7/3/15/3.6
3.1From tronraner via trade. The pour was attractive. Clear, rich amber with a two-finger tall, off-white head that produced average lace. The aroma was mostly pine and floral hops with light spice and very thin citrus. The flavor was dry, bitter hops. Mostly pine, but also perfumy. A touch of sweetness. Thin, dry mouthfeel.
2.6Bottle pours cloudy copper color with off white head. Aroma is grainy. Flavor is slight crisp hop upfront and finishes with caramel malt. Average to below average.
3.1On tap at the Carolina Beer Co. bar at the Charlotte airport. Clear light ambar colour, slight aroma. Slight hoppy bitter, almost like a cask beer
3.0One of their better efforts, or maybe just the hops. Not much for florals but plenty of dry hops. Light copper color, fair head that disappears, all about the hops.
2.012 oz. bottle. Poured amber. Flavor of sickenly sweet caramel. MUCH more of an English IPA than American according to my tastebuds. I picked up no PNW qualities in this one.
3.5Poured amber with white head. Aroma of hops and citrus. Started off hoppy and finished with a sweet caramel flavor.
3.5Brewed with attitude? OK. Similar to PNW? Now I’m intrigued. Maybe protective. As if I have any power or anyone cares what I think anyway. Meh. Let’s start with this is a picturesque beer for me. Golden amber, 2 finger sticky head, suspended sediment throughout the pint glass with a perfectly even distribution. I don’t know why I like this so much but it’s working tonight. I don’t get Cascade on the nose, just caramel malt and dry earthy hops. Begins with that same earthy character, gets a little juicy with some lemon and grapefruit notes, finishes with more dry earthy hops and toasted cracker.
2.0(Trade with Suttree) Very foamy, very carbonated head. Murky brown colored body. Aroma is nice. Not overwhelming, but clean. Off flavor. Can’t exactly pick it up. Oxidation? Bottle infection? No ring around the color, but definately not what I’d expect from something that is supposed to have Cascades in there. Hmm.....
