Cascade Blackcap Raspberry

This NW style sour blond ale was barrel aged for 28 months before spending an additional two months on 300+ pounds of Black Cap raspberries: think Nouveau Boujoulais with blackberries. Vinous then sweet aromas of tart blackberries are the first to be noticed. Sharp, acidic notes of tart berries and leather on the palate lead to a sharp, dark berry presence and a finish with a prolonged dry fruit note. This limited draft-only offering is a blender favorite.

3.8 Bottle 750ml @ Rasmus's hytte, Tvedestrand Pours hazy reddish brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, raspberries, vinegar and caramel. Taste is light to medium sweet and medium to heavy sour with a long dry, tart, raspbery and vinegar finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

4.0 Bottle at tasting. Dark pink color. Aroma of rich raspberry, oak, tart, funk, ripe red fruit and some cherry. Taste has raspberry, acidic sourness, funk, oak, cherry, tart and a sour fruity finish. Very nice.

3.9 750mml. bottle, taster. Sampled on the 16/03/2019 at "Barcelona Beer Festival 2019", (L´Hospitalet, Spain). Cloudy purple colour with a medium head. Aroma is full of fresh raspberry, red fruits and oak barrels. Taste is again full of raspberry, red fruits, tannins and red grapes. Finish is medium acidic with a vinous profile. Next one please!

4.0 Bottle shared at Kiselo druženje (Sour gettogether) 2018. Dark cherry red to purple colour, minimal head. Light sourness, dark fruits, blackcurrant, blueberry, funky. Fruity, petrol, juicy, very sour, intense raspberry, vinegar. Puckering, refreshing, alcohol hidden, lasting tart finish.

4.3 Raspberry and strawberry juice, bit tarty, it doesn't even smell like sour beer at all. Hazy to cloudy deep red color with minimal sized pink head. Sour cherry in taste, raspberries, acidic, forest fruit, this is fantastic. Medium body, soft carbonation, creamy. Extreme astringency after the sip.

3.9 Cask Days 2018. Dark purple pour, with a small pink head. Aroma is loaded with berries, and light oak, with a touch of floral honey. not too sweet, lots of tang, light lactic notes, hints of funk.

4.2 Mi2 Cardinal okt-18: den første av i alt tre flaskeøl fra Cascade. Klar mørkerød med storboblet skum. Intens og overbevisende aroma og sursyrlig smak av bringebær, markjordbær, sure kirsebær og hint av solbær/bjørnebær. Overraskende tørr ettersmak. Lekkert.

4.1 Shared bottle at Cardinal. Pours almost clear deep purple, with a tiny white head. Aroma of mild raspberry, also some strawberries, delicious. Taste is tart and fresh raspberries, delicious dry long finish, lovely beer.

4.2 Shared bottle at Mi2 at Cardinal 15.10.18. Dark violet. Pink head. Fantasticly mouthwatering aroma of raspberries and sour cherries. Acid taste of very sour cherries and some raspberries and blackberries. Very acid, dry and astringent taste.

4.2 750 ml corked & caged bottle. ABV is 7.7%. Deep red to purple colour, moderate pink head. Distinct aroma of ripe and over-ripe raspberries, also notes of farmhouse and oak. Very sour flavour with an abundance of raspberries, also notes of lemons and oak. Astringent finish.

4.0 Bottle from Kvickly, Middelfart. Nice pink head with good duration. Color is red. Aroma and taste are rich sour berries, fruits, lots of lactose acid, little malt and hops. Nice long sour finish.

4.2 Backlog, bottle shared by Pilsnertest. Pours deep red with small, pink foam. Tart raspberries, some blackberries, rhubarb and currants. Slightly puckering balsamic. Refreshing and pretty damn good.

4.2 Found this one at Systembolaget. 750 ml, 7.7 % ABV. Really nice artwork and label. It has a very sour and tart aroma of ripe raspberries and sour ale. Fruity and pervasive aroma overall. The taste is strongly sour and acidic, with a thoroughgoing taste of natural raspberries. Minimal sweetness is accompanied by a heavy tartness and fruity sour taste. Low carbonation is followed by a semi-milky haze. The tartness is hard hitting, but if you like sour ales with natural fruits and berries this should be right up your alley. Enjoyable and rich in flavor.

3.3 Flaska från Systembolaget: Djupröd med litet skum. Syrlig doft av hallon, vinbär och björnklister. Syrlig smak av hallon, vinbär och rabarber. God men kanske lite enkelspårigt syrlig.

4.5 Aus der Flasche (Vintage 2016) im 2018-08 getrunken. Oh ja Cascade zeigt hier wieder einmal das diesen Bierstil zu perfektion beherrschen. Dieses Himbeer Ale zeigt sich mit einem wunderbaren Fruchtaroma das durch den Eichenfass sehr gut abgerundet wird. Die doch sehr dominierende Säure finde ich sehr passend, doch dadurch wird das Ale nicht besonders süffig. Aber so gießt man diese Bier eben einfach länger. Traumstoff!

3.9 W aromacie mnóstwo malin. W smaku kwaśne mocno, półwytrawne. Na finiszu lekko cierpkie, nadal kwaśne. Zbyt mocno kwaśne, ale dobre piwo.

4.4 Flaska från SB, årgång 2016. Tjusigt mörkröd-lila med rosavit krona. Riktigt snygg och fräsch hallonton i doften med färskplockade hallon och hallonkärnor. Redan i doften och ännu mer i smaken märks att det är ett ordentligt drag i syran. Snygga vinägertoner, citronsyra och körsbärskärnor som får det att dra ordentligt bak i kinderna. Massor av hallon och körsbärskärnor till detta gör det hela oerhört smaskigt. Riktigt, riktigt gott och uppfriskande! Superfräscht!

3.7 Bottle @ Forstads Bryghus-share. Pours deep dark hazy red with a small pinkish white head. Aromas of raspberries, jammy, vinegar, dusty, rubbery. Taste has raspberries, light bandaid and vinegar, very lactic, dusty, light funk.

4.4 Bottle shared at hopaholic. Nose is light acetic strong raspberries. Taste is strong raspberries, sour cherries, cherries, some leather, maybe some acetic notes. Very nice and juicy.

3.8 Bottle 0.75. Pours red with large redish head. Sour, rasperries, oak, rhubarb, red currant. Medium body and avarege carbonation.

4.2 12/22/17. 750mL bottle from Five Points. Got super lucky and got this on clearance for like $10 or something crazy. Dark purple pour with a sizzly purple head that dissipates. Lovely sour aroma, funk, oak, hints of vanilla, loads of berry. Good flavor, nicely sour, tart, big berry character, mixed dark fruits, sour, vanilla. Tasty!
