Cascade Cranberry

Cascade Cranberry

This NW style sour ale is a seasonal we produce once a year. It’s barrel aged seven months with 200 lbs. of cranberries, hibiscus, sweet orange peel and Thai cinnamon. Light sweet floral notes of citrus and pink candy are noticed up front. Tart, dry hints of sweet cranberries & wild strawberries on the palate give way to a pronounced dryness in the finish, with notes of cranberries & hints of vanilla and cinnamon.

Nice tart taste that is lightly sour with a dry cranberry flavor and lots of oaky wood notes. Nice long tingle on the tongue and a good lasting aftertaste. Great with a Thanksgiving meal.
3.8 Bottle 750ml @ gunnfryd Pours hazy deep golden with a off-white head. Aroma is tart with notes of cranberry, vinegar, cinnamon and floral. 3.7 Bottle, 75cl corked. Courtesy of meilby. A hazy orange colored beer with a good carbonation and a dense, finger-thick off-white head. Flowery, lemony aroma with some vinegar. Some berries. There's a faint spiced touch too, both in the aroma and flavor. It's quite floral and berry-ish, with a bit too much vinegar in the flavor. Hints of strawberries, some powdered sugar and a flower touch. Sort of candy-ish, still on the tart side. Lasting finish. Very pleasant, sure a bottle that needs to be shared though. 171111
4.3 Rating #4300. 750ml brown bottle, corked and caged. 2015 Project. Colour is deep amber, a small clingy white head on top. Nose - big sourness, lemony and tart cranberries. Taste - notes of sweat, lemon and tart cranberries. Nice long and sour finish. An epic beer, lucky to have tried it for a milestone rating. Cascade is producing the best American sours right now.
4.4 Such an interesting beer. Never had anything like it. Pours a milky thick, pinkish red. Aromas of cinnamon hearts, tart cranberries, vanilla. Beautiful mouthfeel. Silky, which is rare for a sour. Flavours of tart cranberries, cinnamon and vanilla. Tastes like a scented candle might smell. Completely delicious.
4.1 From a 750 bottle into an Anderson Brewing tulip glass. Pours gold-orange with slight raspberry colors, head and lace. Aroma of lightly tart grain and citrus water. Medium carbonation and significant mouthfeel. Flavors of lightly tart citrus-cranberry juice with some lactic sourness. Overall very flavorful, balanced, and easy to drink relative to other Cascade mouth puckering sour tart delights.
4.2 Shared bottle at Cardinal, Mandag i annen. Pours hazy amber with cream coloured head. Aroma of red berries, horse stable, medicine, effervescent powder, spices, lemon, peppermint, cinnamon. Taste sour, with some fruity sweetness and a little salt. Complex.
3.3 OK, but I can't really warm to it. Taste is of Cranberry juice, some spice mainly cinnamon and much more subtle than you would expect, bit of orange zest as well. Aftertaste is sour, it had me puckering up like a little old granny giving a kiss to her god son. Tried at a tasting.

3.2 On tap Pours a muddy pinkish brown with moderate head. Aromas of apple pie and . Flavors of dull cranberries, pie pastry, and semi tart lemons What’s the fuss about?
3.6 Cloudy, pinkish with a thin head. Has a fair amount of cranberry on the nose, with light lactic and a bit of yeastiness. As it warms some spicier clove and star anise notes come out. Tart, cranberry-focused, just a touch of balsamic. Not the most complex Cascade- it’s certainly fruity but doesn’t have much sweetness nor barrel character.
3.5 Draught at Darby’s Gastown, Vancouver; 6.9% ABV Murky blood orange color. Some aroma of fruit pie, later I saw that they use cinnamon, and now it makes sense. Good body strength, not too dry; the juice flavor is nice, the cinnamon is delicate and fits in, it has a mild funky and vinous character, not too much complexity though. Very good.
3.9 Aromat owocowy, lekko słodka żurawina, wyraźnie ziołowy, niemal jak letnia łąka z nutą cynamonu. W smaku umiarkowana kwaśność i zauważalna słodycz, żurawina, czerwone jagody i dużo ziół, cynamon w posmaku.
4.0 [8798-20161021] Cask. Fragrant cinnamon sticks and nutmeggy fruit aroma. Murky, pink orange body with a quick foamy white head. Soured fruity cranberry sauce and cinnamonny cookies flavour. Medium-full body is quite smooth and sour. Delicious. (9/3/9/4/15) 4.0 (Cask Days @ Brickworks, Toronto, ON) Overheard: "Well you are a fussy."

Bringebær, tranebær, vanilje, fersken og en hel blomstereng i saftig og lekker kombinasjon. Superfrisk syrlighet og elegant munnfølelse. 3.3 750 ml corked & caged bottle, as Cascade Cranberry Oak Aged Northwest Sour Ale, ale aged in oak barrels with cranberries and spices, 2016 Project. ABV is 6.6%. At Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Peach coloured beer, huge off-white head with a peachy hue. Strong sourish aroma of cranberries and spices. The flavour is moderately sour, far from extreme. Again notes of cranberries, hints of mild spices.
3.6 UFO galore into dense, dotted pink head over muddy pink to orange-amber beer. Fruit & lactic acid, red fruit, toilet soap, lemon, wheat, cranberryjuice and belatedly, cinnamon. Sour, acidic, again lactic & fruitacids. Not specifically cranberry taste, but definitely red fruit and -berries. Sharp, burning MF, acidburn and -thinning. Bit wheatslick, maybe. Good carbonation. In-yer-face sour. I would have suspected a certain bitterness from the cranberries, but no.
2.3 Bottle shared @Pułapka, Gdańsk A bit lacquer in the front. Some slight barnyard dunk (not funk). Spicy cinnamon and apple pie, some fruity citrus, medium sour. Cookies!
