Castle Milk Stout

Castle Milk Stout

Castle Milk Stout has a thick texture, strong flavour and a full, satisfying and complex taste, with a hint of caramel. Dark roasted malt provides its distinctive dark colouring, and the creamy, smooth head comes from a special yeast.

2.9 not my type of beer. but tasted okay. malty, chocolate and toffee. heavy stuffing body
3.1 My bottle is brewed by Nile Breweries Ltd, Uganda. 33cl bottle. A black beer with a huge most good lasting tan head. Aroma of dark mild roasted malt, chocolate, liquorice, melasse. taste of liquorice, dark malt, soft roasted malt, chocolate, solid brew!
3.2 Dark colour, tan head, some malt notes. Nice sugary depth. Thin body, little bitterness.
2.6 Pours black with a light tan head. Visibly thin and over carbbed for the style. Nose is metal. Taste is light chocolate, dark fruit, cocoa dust, burnt wood. Not good for the style but having a mass produced stout isn’t so bad.
3.2 330ml bottle. Pours black with a brown head. Aroma is cream, coffee, notes of milk. Taste is sugary sweet, roasted malt, coffee.
3.8 Thanks to Pete for this easy drinking (too easy!) several could disappear quickly. Pours black with a solid creamy light brown head, aromas of roasted malts coffee and chocolate, light spice and leaving bitter, I really enjoyed this.
3.4 Surprisingly good stout from SAB miller. smooth and sweet w a creamy mouthfeel and slight creamy mocha flavour. body is quite light and creamy. a bit of hops toward thhe end. a little thicker and would be better.
3.0 440ml Can: Pours black with rocky tan head. Aroma of caramel and dark fruits. A slight roastiness with hints of dark chocolate, coffee and caramel/toffee. Medium light bodied, medium carbonation, medium low bitterness. Overall an easy drinking beer.
3.5 Bottled (750ml) Black colour with brownish-tan head. Medium sweetness, dark chocolate and coffee. A reliable standby from SAB. Very nice on tap as well, with a creamier texture.
3.2 340ml bottle at Montecasino Johannesburg. Pours black with medium head. Roasted coffee aroma with similar taste. Sweet after taste with hints of cocoa and coffee.
3.2 Bottle from Nassau on a cruise. Sweet milky aroma. Light coffee. Faint chocolate. Taste is a little roasty followed by a light milk sweetness. Like coffee and cream. A tad thin, quick finish. Not bad.
3.2 Bottle from an African shop in Carter’s Green, West Bromwich. Black beer with medium tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Taste is light coffee, roasted malts and a sweet lactose finish. Not bad.
3.7 Pours an extremely dark brown, almost black, with a good amount of tan head. Aromas of coffee and roasted malt (not particularity pronounced but definitely there), with coffee becoming more pronounced as the beer warms in hand. Not very creamy, but not too watery either. The lactose in the beer adds a pleasant sweet after taste, with hops not being very pronounced in this beer. A good amount of carbonation. This has become my go-to "commercial" beer in South Africa and is probably the best beer brewed by SABMiller.
3.0 Bottle at home from Savannah at London Bridge station. Pours black with a decent off white head. Not much of an aroma on the beer, a little lactose maybe. Taste is sweet, bit of chocolate and coffee, plenty of lactose. Not a bad sweet stout.
3.5 From bottle brewed by Tanzani Breweries Ltd at Travellers Lodge Bagamoyo 24.02.16. Mocca colour. Fine pale brown head and lacing. Similarly fine aroma and taste, with mocca and dark malt. Moderate bitterness lingering on in aftetaste.
3.3 Bottle from a supermarket in Nairobi. Smell of dark malts and chocolate. Similar taste, milky and creamy. Fairly light body but it has a milky and creamy touch to it.
3.0 33cl can as a gift. Pours black with a modest beige head. Malty aroma with nice roasty notes, caramel, chocolate and milk. Medium sweet and surprisingly pleasant, not much bitterness to speak of, but works out anyway. Quite nice.
3.6 Deep and dark brown colour with a dense head. Aroma is coffee. Taste is dark chocolate. Fairly carbonated for the style, so it has an interesting texture.
2.9 Pours an opaque brown. Aroma has slight roasted malt. Taste is not complete full body but does have a toasted malt and nut finish. Better than the standard lagers but a below average stout.
3.7 Rich, deep dark brown coloured body with a thick brown base and a nice, three centimetre tall microfoamed deep brown head - very nice looking. Aroma of roasted malt, light coffee, milk chocolate, figs, prunes, nuts, pecans and a touch of alcohol - nice. Medium-bodied; Assertive creamy and malty flavours at first with some metal twangs and a bit of nuttiness noticeable, along with a defined creamy flavour from the milk/lactose and a good rich sweetness from prunes and raisins. Aftertaste is nice with a light complexity and some minor chocolate flavours to couple with the malt and pit creaminess. Overall, a nice milk-based stout with a rich flavour and nice maltiness - great to sample, perhaps this has gotten better over time, but there isn’t much sediment and I don’t remember much different from when it was fresh. I sampled this 330 mL can purchased from the Skukuza Rest Camp in/near Nelspruit, South Africa, inside Kruger National Park, South Africa on 21-August-2011 sampled the fourth time after this trip going back to South Africa, in just a few hours with two kids, on 08-August-2015 where i’ll surely pick up more of this fine beer.
3.5 Bottle 0,5ltr: Opaque black colored brew with an dry bitter taste with an little bit of sweetness and also sourness. Hints of roasted malts, chocolate and liquorice. 3.0 625ml bottle [brewed by Accra Brewery, Ghana - Thank you very much, Aziz!]. Clear, darkest brown colour with ruby red glimmer, average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, beige to tan head. Dark malty aroma with a grainy, strawy touch, hints of milk chocolate, some roast. Taste is slightly roasty dark malty, some dark malt sweetness, a touch of treacle, malt lozenge; slightly watery, not that far from some German Dunkels.
