2.3 Finally finally trying this. 12oz bottle pours with clear deep gold body that supports no head at all within 40 seconds. The aroma offers up a decent level of chili peppers. That works. The taste delivers a rush of lagery sugar sweetness and then a growing chili pepper burn. The heat reaches a modest level. The chili pepper looks like a small turd floating around in piss.
1.1 My chili obsession sometimes get the best of me. I found this chili beer and I couldn’t resist picking it up! It’s a Mexican beer (of course) and there actually is a chili pepper inside the bottle! This is one of those cases where it is disgusting and awesome as the same time. The beer is supposed to be a lager with chili added. And oh boy - this is some hot stuff! My tolerance is pretty high for spicy things (except for the Spice Girls), but this beer is by far the most powerful chili brew I’ve had yet! The beer is shit, but the spicyness makes it kinda fun. There isn’t really any flavor other than hot sauce in this beer! But this is all about the lols ’n gags for me, and not about the flavor. I’m gonna eat the pepper too when I reach the bottom, just for the fuck of it.
1.5 Originally rated on 2/10/09. It stared out good enough a faint hint of malts, typical lager aroma, with the chili quickly dominating. Appearance was a golden yellow body with average carbonation, and a thin head. Wasnt much flavor unless you count the spiciness of the chili, which quickly grew unbearable, i had to throw out half of it. I really like spicy foods, but this beer didnt work out for me at all.
1.9 From old tasting notes. Deep yellow gold color. Little head to speak of.ntart peppery malt nose. Wow! Big hot pepper flavor upfront that dominates everything else. Intense spiciness leaves you wanting more. Unique.
1.1 Bottle at home, brewed in Tecate, Mexico. No head, aroma of pickled jalapeno. Spicy hot, pepper, makes drooling and feeling no taste at all. Chili is just all over it.
2.0 Bottle from Hopt. Aroma is tons of jalapeño chili, vegetable and soft pale malt. Flavour is light to moderate sweet with lots of chili burn. Body is light to medium. Quite gimmicky but I love spicy food and found this one fun and drinkable.
1.8 Skunk bottle. Pours medium yellow and lightly opaque with a floating chili that kills the foam and my expectations. Scent is chili oil. Taste is pale lager and strong properties of chili oil. Approximately jalapeno levels of spiciness. Finish is lingering chili. Gimmick. Average lager.
1.0 Great clarity, half finger of white head. Smells of left over halapeno juice from a jar. Like drinking air up front-no flavour. Chilli heat at the back end. Unbelievably bland, no flacour at all, just some chilli heat in your throat. Rubbish.
3.3 APPEARANCE-light golden yellow, foamy head that dissipates super quickly. The chili pepper floating in the beer is a sure indication of quality. NOSE-quite spicy, smells like a New Mexico chili pepper. Quite nice. FLAVOR- spicy! Really enjoying it. Excellent lager!! NOTES- very standard ingredient list (barley, water, hop, yeast and a chili pepper) makes for a really good lager. Para este cervrza a ganar cero puntos es incredible!! Es mucho mejor de esto!! UPDATE- I had a second bottle, and it was only about 50% as good.
1.0 Just tastes of chili with very little beer characteristics. A gimick, but hey, we all love a beer with a chili floating in it!
3.4 Bottle at the Local DC Tasting. Clear orange with off-white head. Aromas of raw green pepper, hot chili pepper. Tastes of warm hot peppers. Light body with a dry and warm finish.
1.7 Poured from bottle into a pint glass with a chili pepper floating in the brew Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head fades very fast leaving just a trace of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the brew is massive of a hot pepper smell mixed with some other aromas of a light caramel nature as well as a little bit of a bread. Taste – The taste begins with a light bready and caramel taste mixed with a hot pepper taste. The hot pepper taste gets even stronger as the taste advances and is met with some other black pepper tastes, all while the bready and the sweet get even lighter in flavor. In the end with the increase in the heat and with a loss of the bready and the caramel, a very watery hot pepper taste is left on the tongue. Mouthfeel-The body of the brew is very thin with a carbonation level that is rather average to slightly on the lower side. A higher carbonation level would have certainly been better for the spicy tastes to help keep them from overwhelming the light tastes of the brew. Overall – This was not a very pleasant beer in my mind. I actually couldn’t even finish it which is super rare. I would certainly recommend to stay away from this one.
2.4 well I like chilli. I like beer. I actually quite enjoy this stuff its not great and I couldn’t drink more than one before terminal hiccups but its definitely worth trying. once. in a darkened room. with no witnesses I actually got a bottle of this once with no chilli in. it was very bland
2.5 Clear yellow color with white head. Aroma is malty and chili. Taste is bitter with a strong feeling of chili in your mouth. The beer taste is quite week. It’s worth of trying if you like chili and beer together, but it’s not a great beer.
2.2 330ml Flasche. Klar und golden fast ohne Schaumkrone. Schwer zu beurteilen, da die Chilli jegliches Aroma und Geschmackt killt. Ansonsten getreidig mit leichtem Körper.
1.8 Aroma is quite chili. Golden color, clear liquid with no head. Taste is something strange. Average carbonate. You can drink it slowly, otherwise it burns your mouth. Strong chili taste stays in mouth. If you looking for extreme taste, then this beer gives you this and lot more.
2.0 Bottle in the Club de la Cerveza, Playa del Carmen. Gimmicky. Hard to rate a chilli flavoured drink...I mean you just wouldn’t normally drink liquid with that flavour. It does succeed in being a moderately tasty chilli flavour and the underlying yellow beer is eell enough hidden. But I wouldn’t really want to drink it again.
2.0 11.2 oz. bottle from Liquor Barn (Jefferson Commons); poured into a snifter, pepper included. Best by 2/18/16. Aroma: Reminds me of a peperoncini pepper from a Papa John’s pizza box; little to no base beer character comes through. Appearance: Pours gold with little carbonation; a fizzy white head quickly fades away. Flavor: Pepper juice up front with a steadily increasing burn in the mouth that never goes over the edge. I’m pretty wimpy when it comes to spicy food, and I can handle this. Again, not much base beer here. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, moderate burn in the finish. Overall: I don’t think this is a bad beer. It’s totally a gimmick, but it delivers in a mostly palatable way. With that said, one’s enough for me, but one’s enough of many craft beers that are further off the mark than this.
1.0 Not drinkable! Aroma of chili. Taste only of chili. Average carbonation. No beer characteristics left.
2.4 11.2 oz. bottle. Has a real chili pepper in the bottle. Pours clear golden and watery, with no head. Aroma was very light but with some chili spice. Taste was spicy, yet smooth with a spicy chili finish.
1.5 Stank and spicey. Terrible vegetable aroma and bad. Golden pour, and spice sticks for a while. Botlte at a tasting a while back. Arizona!
2.0 Clear golden color with no foam, Aromas of chilly and malt, but chilly is quite overwhelming. Palate, very light no body, has some carbonation and very hot and chilly finish. Taste of pale lager and chili? Overall spicy and like eating a peper and drinking pale lager at the same time. I guess that is idea of this beer and for what they tried to achieve they did, When bought I did not expect it to be some sort of best beer, just for fun! :)
1.6 aroma is watered down apple juice; but honestly it’s almost nonexistent. Taste is watered down apple juice, then spicey chile peppers.
1.7 Pours a clear gold from the bottle with thin ring of white head that leaves little to no lace. Aroma is shitty mexican lager with hints of chili over the top. Taste is huge chili, like drinking hot sauce, wow. Not as horrible as people say, but definitely not good.
2.1 Bottle from B&M, Walsall. Golden beer with lively head that fades to nothing, with a green chili floating around like a lump of shit in the bog. Aroma of green chili and veg. Taste is pepper, spicy chili and weak lager malts. Interesting, but one is probably more than enough.
1.3 330ml bottle. Clear golden colour with small, frothy, immediately fading, white "head". Slightly tart-ish, peppery spicy chili aroma. Taste is minimally sweet malty, hot and spicy, chili notes; soft palate, flat carbonation, almost a bit slimy texture.
1.1 Aroma: Medium-high chilli. Appearance: Briliant, dark gold body. No head. Flavour: Medium-high chilli. Medium chilli burn. Medium-light bready. Burn lingers for a really long time. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation. Overall: The chilli is the main character, but the beer almost does not feature. The beer is not very drinkable and seems more like a party-joke than a beer that people would actually drink. 330 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Andre! 21A. Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer 1C.
