Central Waters Ouisconsing Red Ale

Central Waters Ouisconsing Red Ale

This smooth amber ale with it's mellow nutty flavor, subtle flowery nose, and delightful malty finish should appeal even to the newest of specialty beer drinkers.Named for the Algonquin word for the Wisconsin River, Ouisconsing Red makes even our neighbors to the south and west "want to be a Badger".

3.3 Draft. Deep red-copper color with thin off-white head that dissipates quickly; substantial lacing. Light biscuit malt aroma with faint cinnamon notes. Rich toasted biscuit balanced with done bitterness in the mouthcoating finish.
2.9 Bottle, shared by me, in my dining room, just now. Pours a sort of brick red with a small head and some spotty lacing on the glass. The aroma is malty, it smells like bread dough and wet grain along with some light caramel and leafy hops. The flavor is mildly sweet with a nice leafy hoppiness, it’s got a little caramel & lots of maltiness. It’s nicely balanced with a good bitterness & has some light fruity elements. Better than expected, but still just sort of one of those red ales the likes of which aren’t to my taste.
2.8 12oz bottle, poured into a shaker. The aroma has a note of floral initially, and is followed shortly by nutty, and caramel malt aromas that are mostly roasty. There’s also a light biscuit note in there. It’s a hazy caramel color with an effervescence to it. The white head retains a dense, medium thin ring and a speckled surface with only a light lace on the glass. The taste is light sweet and medium bitter. A fuzzy carbonation accompanies the slick, medium bodied beer. There’s a dry caramel malt flavor to the beer, with a roastiness, and grass. The grass is strongest during the finish which also has a roasty caramel flavor. The roastiness and malt stick around with the addition of biscuits in the aftertaste as well as a dried citrus peel bittering.
3.2 12 oz bottle picked up in a variety sixer. Clear amber pour with a decent white head. Malty, biscuit nose. Not much going on, but no major flaws either. Flavor is pleasant and smooth malt, and a sweet, dry finish. Very pleasant.
2.9 Red with foamy white head. Malty aroma. Taste - minerally, caramel and light grassy hops. Not bad. Easy drinking and malty.
3.0 Bottle. Aroma is pleasant and color is great for a red ale, but the taste and palate are lacking. The flavor is thin and metallic -- very unrewarding.
3.3 In tap at Graze. Good copper color, floral nose, slightly sweet taste with some metallic aftertaste, hops are flowery. Slight bitterness. Medium body.
3.0 A very drinkable and approachable red ale. This one is a good beginner red. Not overly complex, offers a good amount of malt character but balanced out by the hop profile.
3.4 pours a rich red amber with a medium tan head. aroma is malt and bread. A nice taste. some spice, some nut, and a hint of bitterness on the finish. Another nice number from Central Waters. Good beer!
3.4 Pours a clear reddish medium amber. Small to medium frothy creamy tight white head. A blend of sweet caramel malty and earthy hops. A hint of fruity. Medium body. Smooth and creamy. Maybe a little sticky. Mild earthy bitterness and moderate dryness. Toasty. Minerals. Pretty good.
3.0 Tap. Nice red color. Toasted malt, caramel backdrop. Nice mouthfeel. Not too hoppy but enough. A good "food beer". Better at room temp than ice cold.
3.0 Hazy orange pour with very minimal if non existent head. Aroma is not too strong with hints of malt and caramel but not too much else. Taste is balanced though with a moderate sweetness throughout and a piney finish. Decent beer but I have had better from Central Waters
3.1 very pretty looking. Nice bright red. Interesting in the light. taste is subtle. after taste is alright. I like the graphic design. Maybe its just the heron that gets me. what an elegant bird! The bird is growing on me with each sip.
2.8 Bottle, poured into pint glass A earthy hoppiness A red orange, quite clear nice small tan head T strong piney resinous bitterness, not really balanced by anything sort of watery P thin bodied with a slight oiliness O not the best red in the world, lacking in complexity
3.0 Bottle. Pours crystal clear reddish amber, small off white head, some lacing. Aroma is caramel and bread. Flavor is about the same, medium sweet, some metallic bitterness. Light body.
3.2 12oz bottle, shared by alexsdad06. Mostly clear orange / red color. Little white head, some bits and ropes of lace. Caramel malt in the nose, light spicy malt. Little hint of mustiness. Smooth, soft light-medium carbonation. More dry finish. Moderate bitter taster, moderate sweet in the finish.
3.0 Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a dark clear amber color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting and had good lacing. Good nutty malt aroma. Medium body with smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft brew.
3.0 Bottle to taster (shared by alexsdad06). Looks solid; a semi-transparent orangish brown with white lacing. Smells sweet and malty with light floral notes. Tastes like it smells, sans the floral notes. Average on the palate. Okay.
3.9 Hazy dark amber color with high carbonation and a foamy head with good lacing. Aroma starts out nutty and caramel with roasted barley, floral hops and munich malts. Flavor starts out with some piney hops, mild toffee & citrus notes, caramel and barley; Dryish resin aftertaste. Body is fairly light but moderately carbonation. Pretty good amber ale.
3.0 12 fl oz bottle. (Friar Tuck) Springfield, IL. Clear amber colour with a big creamy off-white head. Floral hops, mild bitterness, sweet malt and nutty dryness in the aroma. The flavour is moderate bitterness, dry hops, dry nuttiness and darkish maltiness. Balanced but rather boring Amber Ale.
3.0 12 oz. bottle from a six pack that a friend of my wife brought back when they were supposed to be looking for Wisconsin Belgian Red. Oh well, it’s a tick. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small disappearing off white head. The aroma and flavor have lighter caramel malt, floral and grassy hops, lightly fruity, slight metallic note.
3.5 Grassy, hay like aromas. Ugh. I hate this 75 char rule. Djsjxjdjdjdjdjdjdjslapaosbbdd head
3.5 Nice color more golden than red. Very nice smooth taste. Would def have again
3.4 Pours amber with an off white head. Floral aroma with some breadiness. Vaguely nutty but otherwise nondescript.
3.0 From BandC. Full flavored for the strength. Thinnish pallet but works as a session ale. Minerally flavors as well. Mildly hops but it is fine. Serving: Bottle
3.5 Slightly hazy copper pour with a 1 finger, creamy beige head that has great retention and leaves some nice lacing. caramel, toast, biscuit and herbal, spicy and floral hops. Flavor is caramel, cereal, woody notes, rustic roasted nuts, bready and fruity yeast, herbal, floral and light spicy hops to the finish. Lightish body, creamy to chewy entry and slightly drier, but still a little chewy, syrupy finish. Decent, well balanced Amber Ale, though if I had to guess the style I would have said Irish Ale.
3.8 Pours a reddish amber with minimal head. Very nice biscuity, spicy lager with some surprising fruity aftertaste.
2.9 12 oz bottle pours light amber with a off white head. Aroma of sweet caramel, grass and citrus. Taste is sweet, malt and a hint of hops.
4.0 Pours a cherry amber color with a slight head of foam that leaves some lacing. Scent is that of caramel malts brewed to perfection. A slight nutty scent as well. The taste is rather mild of malts with a bold flavor. A very nice volume beer that drinks well and taste good at the same time. Nothing uber fantastic but you should enjoy drinking this.
3.5 Notes of bread, sour tart cherry, and a nice malty finish make this red/amber ale style a nice pour. Great color, too!
