Central Waters Satin Solitude Imperial Stout

Central Waters Satin Solitude Imperial Stout

This smooth, creamy stout and a crackling fireplace are the perfect answer to a wintry evening in Wisconsin. The rich coffee flavor compliments the "warm, fuzzy feeling" you get from the abundant alcohol. Formerly a winter seasonal, named Satin Solstice.

3.4 Bottle with many thanks to Drake! Pours very dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is dishsoap, coffee, molasses. Flavor is molasses, chocolate, coffee beans, roasted malt, light ash.
3.6 Pours nearly black, dark mahogany with a two finger, tan head. Aroma is roast, coffee and molasses. Taste is brown sugar, moving to roast and coffee. Finish is coffee and roast. Good stout.
3.9 Nice imperial stout. Roasty, light sweet and light bitter. Tastes of coffee, chocolate... soft and creamy. Nice
3.7 Bottle. Dark brown with bronze color, yellowish foam. Aroma: sweet, caramel, esters, roasted malt, a little dried fruit. Taste: sweetish, caramel, a little coffee and chocolate, a little dried fruit, bitter finish.
3.5 black/kaki head. Massive roasted flavors, some lactose, milk chocolate, cacao, weak texture, thin, some vanilla, old coffee, firm , decent not great
3.5 Bottle shared at De Gekke Geit. Pours close to black with a tan head. Like a milk stout, lactose sugar, sour yeast, old coffee.
3.6 Bottle from Drankenspeciaalzaak Jelle, Leeuwarden. Aroma is coffee upfront with roasted malt, some liquorice and chocolate. Flavour is medium sweet with a roasty bitterness. Body is medium, on the thin side for the style. Tasty Coffee Stout, so-so for an Imperial.
3.6 Bottle @Luppolo Station (Rome). Bruna, quasi impenetrabile, schiuma beige media, discretamente persistente. Corpo medio-leggero, carbonazione media. Buona.
3.6 Bottle from Foragers, Brooklyn 7-10-18 (mcm only)
3.4 12 fl oz bottle. A clear very dark brown beer with a mid-sized most good lasting beige head. Aroma of liqourice, dark soft roasted malt, cookies. Taste of strong dark malt, red malt, roasted malt, liquorice, some chocolate.
3.4 Bottle @ home. Opaque black color with a medium sized light brown colored head. Aroma is malts, nice firm chocolate notes. Taste malts and again chocolate, chocolade bitter, bitter. Hmm ok, decent.
3.0 bitter burnt ash and mild coffee flavor, its ok for what it is, but nothing i will remember
2.3 Bottled. Dark black stout color. Burnt malt nose. Aroma is chocholate, malts. Flavour is sweet and bitter in the finish. Watery and overcarbonated. No real stout.
4.0 Aroma of dark malts, faint cofee.Taste of dark sweet malt, cofee, vanilla, spicy dried fruits, raisins, faint tofee..
3.7 Dark brown color with tan head. Aroma has sweet malts, some spicy notes like gingerbread and rye bread crust. Taste follows, sweet at first, malty, more bitter on the finish but not very roasty, more like a hop bitterness. Medium body, feels really soft on the palate. Overall it's a really well made but quite simple stout.
3.1 Draft presented in a tulip glass, 8.5% listed ABV. Appears dark brown with little head. Aroma consists of general roastedness and their are faint hints of bourbon, although there is no indication that this was barrel aged. The palate is a tad rough, chalky medium-full bodied feel with a malted chocolate taste. Except for the very last sip gives an essence of bourbon. Overall, not an exciting double stout.
3.7 Bought @ De Caigny. Roast in the nose. Taste is roast, mild, a tad malt. Mouthfeel is suave. Aftertaste is roasted malts.
3.5 Black with thin head. Aroma and flavour have some caramel, brown sugar and roasted malts. Nice smooth texture. Overall a bit too sweet.
3.3 35,5cl flesje via Keepin' it Hoppy, Maastricht Alcoholpercentage van 7,5% Uitgeschonken in St. Bernardus glas Uiterlijk: zwart met kleine cremelaag Aroma en smaak: neus is cacao, smaak is koffie, chocolade, lactose, gebrande bitter Conclusie: chocolade is vol, rest van de smaak vrij licht,
3.6 355 ml. bottle. Joint purchase & share with Kraddel. Black, mocha head. Nose is low roast, chocolate, date, sugar, cookie dough, sweet mocha. Rather thin beer, there is cookie dough but also thin gravy which takes it bit down for me, weak, plastic, mocha, cookie dough saves it but I am not blown away with it unlike their anniversary beers.
3.5 Donker zwart-bruin met beige schuimkraag. Geur is geroosterd, koffie en iets spicy. Smaak is waterig, geroosterd, koffie, donkere chocolade en iets spicy. Te waterig, maar wel een lekkere smaak.
3.7 Bottle at home. Very dark brown with dark beige head. Milk chocolate, peach, soft berries, sweet malts, agave syrup, cocoa-fantasy fake chocolate, light earthy. It’s surprisingly fruity and malty, with some chocolate but no typical Imperial Stout roasted notes. Over medium sweet and just medium bitter. Over medium bodied. Not really a RIS but I like the peach-chocolate combo here.
3.3 Backlog rating, as Satin Solstice. Vanilla wood aroma, milk chocolate. Dark brown, low brown head. Dark wooden roast, chocolate, coffee, preserved fruit. Medium body, mellow mouthfeel. Very roasted bitter.
3.3 From Mar 2008 I got this in a trade with Grizzly Adams. Thanks Cole! The pour reveals a near pitch black liquid with about an inch of tannish foam with some fine lacing. The foam all but disappears after a few minutes. The smell has notes of roasted malt, toffee, chocolate, coffee, and some dark fruit. Over all, it smells like it's going to be relly sweet. The taste starts off with good roasted malt and coffee and then some toffee and chocolate. There's some bitterness mid palate that becomes more noticeable after a few sips and it dominates the finish. A nice medium mouthfeel helps make this a fine RIS to sip on but I think the alcohol is more apparent than the abv would indicate. That's not a slam because I do think it's a very tasty and easy drinking example of the style. I'm glad I got to try it.
3.3 On Tap Black pour with thin tan head Aroma of coffee and slight chocolate. taste of roasted malt and coffee very thin and watery.
