Central Waters Sixteen

Central Waters Sixteen

To celebrate our Sweet Sixteen, we made this Anniversary beer that builds itself on the shoulders of its predecessors. Using a bigger, bolder imperial stout, we age this beer for 21 months in oak bourbon barrels. The result - rich, decadent bourbon, vanilla and toffee; complimented by the chocolate and roast of the stout. Enjoy this beer from our Gold Medal winning Anniversary Series, because Sixteen is a milestone, but our life is just beginning.

3.9 (22oz bomber) medium brown, fine wispy tan bubbles. Nose is rich chocolate, bourbon, malt balls, alcohol, a little lacking in complexity but delicious. Taste of vanilla, rich chocolate, wood esters, bourbon, slightly thin in body but a great chocolate linger.
4.4 Backlog, August 6, 2015 Bourbon, vanilla, liquiruce, chocolate, oak fiesta! Warming alcohol. This is so nice! Love it!
4.3 650 ml bottle shared at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki. Black color with beige brown head. Malty aroma, roasted, chocolate, dark fruits, dried fruits, alcohol, wood, vanilla. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Full silky oily body with soft carbonation.
4.5 Pitch black and completely opaque with a two finger frothy dark mocha head that very slowly settles into a thick, lasting cap. The head of this beer surprisingly dark with great retention, taking a while to settle and leaving large streaks of soapy lacing behind. Wow, the nose on this beer is really special. Very inviting with a really strong barrel presence that’s almost perfectly integrated into the base beer. Subtle charred oak with vanilla bean, prominent toasted coconut and sweet, spicy bourbon. This is countered by a balance of deeply roasted dark malt and rich dessert-like chocolate malt sweetness. Almost like a bourbon chocolate shake. Robust coffee, oatmeal, dark cacao followed by fudge, bakers chocolate caramel and toffee sweetness. Incredible! Slightly viscous full body but the flavor profile doesn’t quite live up to the aroma. The barrel is pretty strong but not as complex as in the nose, slightly dominating the complex malt bill that’s lying underneath. Decent bourbon flavor without being too sweet or boozy. Strong charred oak and toasted coconut presence but the silky vanilla notes are missing. Really strong malt backbone that stands up against the huge barrel flavors. Prominent roast with nice robust coffee/espresso bean, burnt toast, oatmeal and bittersweet dark chocolate. The silky, sweeter dessert-like chocolate notes are there but not as strong as I expected or hoped for. Some milk chocolate, flourless chocolate cake and toffee but could use a touch more sweetness to counter the oak and heavy roast. Still, this is a great beer that’s very complex and deceptively drinkable considering the high alcohol content. The 11% ABV IS nearly invisible with only subtle heat/warmth in the finish. This is a damn good beer!
4.0 Bottle. Black pour, with a tan head. Smooth chocolate, vanilla, dark roasted malt, bourbon, oak, licorice, raisin, date, and milk chocolate. Tasty, warming, and pretty smooth for the style.

3.9 Finally cracking this one. Nice purple fruit and molasses aroma. Robust roasted malt and bittersweet chocolate. Bourbon is a little muted at this point. Finish is a little sweet. Complex and well rounded.
4.0 Pour was black, fairly opaque, small brown head leaving little lace. Aromas are bold roast, bourbon, oak, hints of vanilla, anise, cocoa and char. Taste is nicely balanced brown sugar/caramel, earth, cocoa, dark roasted malt, anise that melds into vanilla, bourbon and oak. Finishes with a touch of heat, but nicely balanced with a soft creamy body and bold barrel notes. Nice stuff!

4.1 Sampled @ Danish Summer Gathering 2015 Das Bier ist schwarz und hat eine geringe bräunliche Schaumkrone. Geruch intensiv nach Kaffee, Schokolade, Toffee, alkoholisch. Geschmack sehr schokoladig, viel Vanille, Toffee, wärmend alkoholisch.
3.1 Rund würziger Antrunk, leicht bitter, intensiv schokoladig. Dafür für meinen Geschmack etwas zu süß, insgesamt aber rund, auch wenn die aufkommende Trockenheit besonders zum Ende hin stört. Herb würzig, cremig. 11/10/9/9/10/9

4.3 Bottle: Chouffe glass: Black body. Creamy mocha lacing. Aromas of whiskey/bourbon, mocha, chocolate, fudge, vanilla, roast, raisin, wood, bay leaf, toffee, hint of soy... Very nice aroma! Flavours of vanilla, bourbon, chocolate, fudge, sweet roast, mocha, some bitters, hint of brown sugars, caramel, sounds sweet but it’s not really.. Aftertaste is vanila, chocolate, fudge, sweet roast and caramel/malts... Low carbo, creamy close to silky mouthfeel, close to full bodied.
4.3 Bottle courtesy of hackobock. Pours reddish blackish brown with a small mocha head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, charred wood, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, caramelised nuts, moist soil and bourbon alcohol. Taste is sweet, slightly bitter and heavy malty. Mouthfeel is fat, round, velvety, slightly boozy and near full bodied. Great stuff! Huge malt base.

The flavour is medium to heavily sweet, medium to heavily bitter and light acidic with balanced roast, aggressive wood and some resinous hops. Vanilla and coconut. The mouthfeel is soft, velvety and round with a light to medium carbonation. Numbing aftertaste. Near full bodied.

4.0 Bottle... This beer rocks!… Pours pitch black with a small, creamy, taupe head. Big-time bourbon, fudge and toasted coconut in the aroma. Full-bodied, creamy and fatty with tickling carbonation. The flavor is a collage of charcoal, whiskey, toffee and caramel. Boozy, carbonic finish. Muchos kudos to Bvery for shipping this world-class beer from way up north to way down south!
3.9 Bottle..Pour is dark black with a light tan head..Nose is dark chocolate, bourbon, alcohol, spice, roast..Taste is bourbon, oak, dark chocolate, roast, nice cream and caramel
4.4 Bottle, 1 yr old. Nice and thick black stout, mellow chocolate roast and bourbon barrel, really nice beer
4.5 22 oz bottle shared by Spencer. The pour is a jet black. Dark and viscous with a thin ring of dark khaki colored head and no lace. The aroma is beautiful. Big chocolate and roast. Lots of vanilla with a great bourbon note. The oak is pretty prevalent on the back end as it the boozy heat. The flavor is also really good. Vanilla and roast up front work a smooth transition to bourbon and a beautiful chocolate to follow that up. A little boozy and light bitter on the back end is just great. The mouth feel is creamy, softly carbonated, but a bit light. It doesn't hold that ability to cling and hang around that would make it outstanding. The aftertaste is lingeringly bitter and roasty with a hint of vanilla. Damn good beer
4.1 Thanks to Owen for the beer Jet black pour and black in glass, motor oil color and thickness. Light brown head that falls away to nothing. Nose is amazing. Coconut, vanilla, caramel, chocolate fudge, dark fruits, coco powder. Very well balanced. Taste is reflective of the nose. More vanilla and caramel, less coconut and more wood. Chocolate, chocolate fudge and dark fruits. Low carbonation, full bodied, well hidden ABV. Amazing sipper.
4.4 Bottle thanks to Bursprak/Aaron. Pours a pitch black with a creamy, brown head. Aroma has big big bourbon notes, vanilla, oak, caramel, sweet toffee, dark dried fruits, slight roast, but not much. Some coconut as well. Taste is sweet vanilla, bourbon, some dry oak that balances all this sweetness nicely. Really really good!! Fat body and low carbonation.
4.0 Black pour with a small head and good lacing. Big whisky/toffee and vanilla aroma. Big whisky up front, huge oak, vanilla, toffee, lighter corn notes not detracting from this. Roastd malt, honey, graham cracker. Thick full body. Excellente, as the kids say. Drink just a hair below room temperature.
3.8 Very smooth. Bourbon coconut. Really good bourbon. Very good drinker. Very dark brown with lace
