ThaiBev stopped production of Chang Beer, Chang Draught, Chang Light, and Chang Export in 2015. A new product, Chang Classic, was launched, with production shared between ThaiBev’s three breweries. The recipe of Chang Classic includes rice, previously only used in the domestic 6.4% version of Chang Beer.

Note: Chang Classic is sold at 5.5% in some Asian markets, but is classed as the same beer under RateBeer rules
Brewed at Cosmos, Beerthip and Beer Thai breweries.

4.0 Thib foam. Medium gold. Rich hop flavor through and through. Medium bodied and medium carbonation. Nice beer
1.1 7/1/22 Smell is lemony, lagery. Color is clear yellow a bit golden. Short head. Body is light, a bit oily. Carbonation light mellow to medium. Taste is offensively acidic, some sweetness, medium low bitterness, lingering acidic sweetness. Flavor is lemony, Euro lager, pissy. Oy vey.
2.5 33cl Fles van Asian Market in Beverwijk. Helder goudgele kleur, witte kraag. Lichte body.
2.6 W aromacie fajny skunks, przyjemny.
2.7 Pours pale yellow with smallish white head. Sweetish, malty, grassy and pretty standard lager. Pleasant and drinkable
2.0 Dorada clara limpia de escasa espuma poco duradera. Aroma escaso, cereal.
2.6 Bottle at My Thai since they run out of Northern Monk. Sweet and corny aroma and taste. Pretty much classic macro lager. Not good, not offensive.
2.5 bottle @ beer company (budapest) pale yellow colour, normal body, average carbonated, weak texture, decent hoppy, decent malty, lightly bitter, easy to drink
2.2 0,33 l can from Lidl, Aroma cardboard, malt and some fruit golden colour with good white head taste sweet , cereal and grassy, its better than i expect
2.8 Old Untappd checkin, June 30, 2017. Green glass bottle. Dry malt and slightly bitter hops aroma. Overall a very dry drinking lager, tastes closer to a rice lager than anything. Not bad, pairs well with spicy Thai cuisine.
2.3 33cl can at home (3 VII 2021), as Chang Classic lager beer. Clear pale golden to yellow brew with a fizzy and urine-like appearance; on top a swiftly diminishing off-white head. The nose is nothing bad for a 5% ABV pale lager. Flavours of malts, bits of corn, some wheat, undefinable bread hints, dust particles. The mouthfeel has much of carbonation. The taste makes one think of lemon grass, wheat, features of hay. On the tongue, there is a little sourness with a mild sweetness. The ending is smooth or silklike, even with dashes of ginger and herbs. This is not just an archetype discounter-quencher, but a well-balanced yet light bodied pale lager performance. Far more interesting than the average brew.
2.5 320ml bottle - Pours a clear pale gold colour with a small white head that settled quickly. Aroma is light malts, cardboard and some grassy notes. A moderately sweet to light sweet taste, pale malt and sweet cereal flavours with not much bitterness.
3.2 Sometimes you just could do with a lager. TBH I think most of the low ratings for lager is from people who may just not like lager, period. Which makes me wonder why they rate it in the first place. Chang is a smooth, balanced lager that fits the bill. Not getting that mineral water fizz. Quite enjoyable. Nice looking bottles but the thick glass means it only holds 320ml. Thats the only negative, and maybe a touch sweet. I would hit this harder than a thai #@!% in a #@!!
2.2 Green bottle from an Asian shop. Medium gold clear with a small head that dissipated medium fast. Light grainy hay/malt nose. Flavor is super grainy, watery very thin body, almost no hops or bitterness. Having just drink a Tiger minutes before, I can say that for me Chang Classic is far inferior.
1.6 0.33 can from Lidl. Contains rice. Pours yellow color with thin white head. Extremely watery and weak. A bit bittery. Smoky, metallic taste. Weird aroma. My first Thai beer and I don't like it.
2.6 Clear yellow colour with very small white head. Low on carbonation. Smell of sweet malt. Taste of sweet malt and caramel. Light but refreshing. Tasted at Baan Thai Restaurant, cph with S
2.1 490ml can bought at The Jasoon’s on Nathan Road, Yau Ma Tei. Clear light golden colour; One finger head with soapy white foam which lasts for 1 minute; Poor sticky lacing with fizzy carbonation; Quite pungent aroma of fair Lager malt, with rice, wet cardboard, floral, sugar, bread, lemon and grass; Close to medium sweet taste of light Lager malt, with pronounced tartness, rice, floral, sugar, bread, light lemon and fair bitter grassy hops; Mid to light body, quite slick palate; Mouth feel is light Lager maltyness in a pretty thick background. Not as ricey as most Asian macros but still notable, tartness and wet cardboard are annoying. Flowery ith medium sweetnes, bready lemony with light grass to round. Nah!... Hoppiness is floral, light lemon and grass in nose and taste; Bitterness is fair to light for an abrupt, low-level bitter fair Lager malty finish; Slightly dry after taste. Ricey sweet and slightly bitter to mouth. Comments: This one seems to be not much different from the old Chang, with a rather thick body, lesser malt, ricey sweet with same detactable hops. The tartness and wet cardboard ruin it but not totally undrinkable, but there are better alternatives (e.g., Carlsberg) and this one just doesn’t cut it as an everyday Lager. Pass!
2.6 0,33 can in Serbia. Clear golden with a medium-low and irregular white foam. Nose: spicy, boiled rice. Mouth: quite flat, inoffensive, spicy-peppery a bit citric.
2.1 Light beer. Not much taste apart from some hops with wheat and slight rice aroma. Finishes bitter and dry.
3.0 Blond très pale limpide, mousse blanche très ténue. Arômes : agrume, floral, herbal, café, levure Très bonne pétillance, acidité et amertume. Recette étonnante, houblon originale, manque de corps toutefois.
4.3 Poured from 320ml bottle into pint glass. A 2" sudsy white head falls slowly with abundant lacing. Clear pale straw color. Aroma dominated by grain, bread dough, grassy hops. Mouthfeel is light and frothy with a quick, dry finish. Flavor of sweet malts, sourdough, cracker, grassy hops. Overall: very enjoyable. Pairs well with Oriental cuisine.
2.4 Bottle from local Yamaya store. Saaz-like stink hop aroma (more likely skunked, green bottle and all), and light sulfur. Clear medium dark yellow color, with little poppy seed bubbles clinging to the sides of the glass. The first flavor note is cardboard. The malt is very light, and the hops make it all a bit sourish in mid palate. Light body. This beer is misnamed.
2.0 330ml can. Pale gold, nice white head. Aroma is grassy, earthy, hint of citrus. Taste is pale malts, grass, sweetened vegetables, not great. Body is ok for a lager. Poor.
1.6 Botella de @Lidl, Oviedo. 06/12/2020 Color amarillo claro corona de espuma blanca, aromas maltosas, sabor cereal, Lager industrial.
2.6 Simple lager, balanced taste, malty and watery. Dry, what's good. Not that much to tell. Fine beer but nothing to notice.
2.7 Can: 330 ml, at home #StayHome Price: 0.99 eur Paprastas, visai geriamas.
