3.0 At home, bottle shared by Maakun. Murky hazelnut brown, white head. Strawberry jelly, light wood, rhubarb, grapes, rubber, light dusty cardboard. Over medium sweet, some tarness. Medium body, no carbonation.
2.6 Bottle shared. Murky pink/brown with off white head that leaves a broken film. Sour red fruits, strawberry, hay, corn, sweet dough, cooked vegetables, Roosevicee. Medium sweet and sour. Medium bodied with slick feel. It’s not good, but it’s way way better than most other Chapeau garbage juice.
2.5 Bottle. Pours in hazy red body with no head at all, oily body. Aroma has strawberry juice character, no hops at all, little bit sourness. Taste has medium sticky strawberry juice, sugary, no sourness, light hoppy bitterness. Body is medium, medium carbonation. Drinkable in hot summer day.
1.6 It pours hazy reddish brown with a minimal and fastly diminishing pink head. The simple aroma contains strawberries, wood and jam. It tastes medium to heavy sweet with a light sourness that lingers. Light body, very soft carbonation, watery texture. Too far from a beer to be good, and actually not that tasty.
2.1 Bottle, 33cL. @La Moustache, Cave, Jardres. A red dark opaque beer with a minimal white head ; poor retention. Red berries syrup, acid, sugar. Medium to heavy sweet, "saved" by light to medium lasting acidity, light dry. Light body, thin watery texture, average carbonation, sweet fruity short finish, light acid. Overall, a light fruity acid sweet beer ; surprising ok taste ; easy drinkable.
3.2 Bottle to a tulip. Amber orange with white head. Sweet ripe strawberries with some dank funkiness, a dry tart finish... I used some to make a strawberry-lambic Sorbet... Yum!
2.8 375 ml corked and capped bottle. Pours a hazy light pink color. Small disappearing white head. Fragrant berry nose. Flavor is slightly tart with juicy berry notes. Light body and minimal complexity. Nothing special here.
3.9 375 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy reddish copper color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big lightly tart strawberry, raspberry, green apple, red grape, candi sugar, light toast, hay, straw, light funk, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of strawberry juice, fruity/funky/spicy yeast, and moderate malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big lightly tart strawberry, raspberry, green apple, red grape, candi sugar, light toast, hay. straw, light funk, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light fruity tartness/yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of strawberry, raspberry, green apple, red grape, candi sugar, light toast, hay, grass, light funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice robustness, complexity, and balance of strawberry juice, fruity/funky/spicy yeast, and moderate malt sweetness; with a good malt/tartness/spiciness balance and no cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth and lightly crisp/slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 3.5%. Overall this is a very nice sweetened fruit lambic style. All around good robustness, complexity and balance of strawberry juice, fruity/funky/spicy yeast, and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
2.7 Bottle @ friends/the chef. Appearance: pours unclear red-brown with small soapy off-white head and lacing. aroma/taste: strawberry, unripe berries and hints of caramel. palette: light unpleasant aroma, average carbonation, medium body, notable sweetness, some acidity, medium duration and a watery texture. Overall: decent lambic, not as sweet as many others.
2.0 375ml bottle. Just another sickly sweet fruit lambic, sweet strawberry syrup, all you need to know.
3.4 12.7 oz bottle as De Troch Fraise Lambic poured into a Spiegelau tulip. Hazy brownish orange with two fingers of off-white head. Aromas of funk, light strawberry. Tastes of big sweet strawberry juice, gummy candy, fruit jam, light tartness. Light body with a dry finish.
1.5 Bottle shared with Deanso. Pours murky orange brown with a small off white head. Aroma of sweet candy strawberry and the normal dirty chapeau rancidness. Flavour is heavy sweet. Light medium bodied with a whole bag full of sugar. Gross.
1.8 25cl bottle courtesy of and shared with Kermis. Big thanks ;-) Aroma of strawberries. Slight pink head. Murky pink red pour. Cant taste the straberries because it so sweet. Dreadful.
3.7 Sampled from a 12.7 oz corked green bottle this beer poured a murky dark brown with a medium sized creamy tan head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was red wine, tart berries and vinegar. The flavor was sweet strawberry jam, bread, tartness and a hint of vinegar. Long finish. Medium body. Quite nice.
2.8 Bottle alongside the lemon from notes. Pours a slightly hazy reddish amber brown with a medium sized, fizzy off white head. The aroma and flavor have tart strawberries, some sweetness, a hint of oak, still thin and not up to the standards of many other fruit lambics.
2.9 Shared bottle. Pours is hazy amber nearly brown. Aroma of light strawbery, basement, sour, earthy. Taste is sour, light sweet, molasses. Dry, flat carbonation.
3.2 *Old rating, best before 11/05/14. Mild-süßliches, leicht frisches und ganz fein säuerliches Bier. Nicht zu klebrig, leichte Erdbeer-Süße, feine Säure im Hintergrund. Lecker!
2.1 31/XII/14 - 25cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ holiday - BB: 9/X/16 (2014-1572) Little cloudy deep red orange beer, small creamy white head, unstable, dissipates quickly, non adhesive. Aroma: sourish, some strawberry jam, sweet, fruity. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: unpleasant sourness, lemony, citric, strawberry syrup. Aftertaste: citric, sourish, strawberry candy, lemon juice, a bit dirty.
1.5 bottle @ Party Source / Bellevue KY --- Hazy dirty red amber, no head, no lace. Still, and unattractive. Taste is strawberry with a tiny bit of slightly sour malt. Nothing happens start to finish, making this into a high-end Big Red. Not enough.
2.7 Bottle shared with the wife. Pour looks a lot like strawberry juice. Nose and taste too reminds a lot of strawberry juice. A bit too sweet and syrupy.
3.1 Bottle 375ml. Pours slightly hazy salmond with low off-white head. Aroma is of strawberries, berries, sugar. Taste is of strawberries, berries, fruits, sugar. Palate: Medium-full bodied. Medium carbonation. Overall: Good. Nice strawberries. Too sweet.
3.0 pours hazy, almost cloudy dark golden with a small white cap showing minimal retention and lacing. strawberry coulis, jam with the fruit’s seeds, litchis, cheap strawberry candies, astringent traces, tiny bit of oak, touch of lambic - no funk, candi and plain sugar sweetness - not necessarily cloying like other chapeaus. light carbonation - could be way brighter, light body - oily, very lightly tart - mostly citric, and sweet, lightly grassy finish. surprisingly no rotten fruits notes, which is good. hey, this is not so bad for a sweetened fruit lambic.
3.1 Bottle shared by czar, thanks! Pours a hazy orange with a small white head that leaves good lacing. Nose is of strawberry jam, that’s about it. Taste is sweet and a little tart (thank god! otherwise it would just be like that Exotic one we just had). Generally fruity, no real strawberries in there. Body was medium and carbonation moderate. Overall an OK sweetened lambic I guess...
2.5 Botella de 25 cl, en Cerveceria Internacional. Color ambar. Sabor a fresa, dulce, ligeramente acido.
2.4 Bottle shared in a car in Belgium. Pours mostly clear gold with a wimpy, creamy white head. Some ripe, sugary strawberry in the nose. Medium sweet flavor, sugary and basic, with artificial strawberry, faint tang. Light bodied with average carbonation and slightly syrupy texture. Sweet, cloying finish with more artificial strawberry, mild sweat. Not great.
2.3 Troebel lichtbruin rood bier zonder schuim. Smaak is lichtzoet en fruitig aarbei. Niet onaardig.
2.5 Another sweet Chapeau fruit beer, artificial as ever, lots of strawberry juice in the nose along with a hint of tomato juice, sweet but fortunately not too cloying, lambic almost unnoticeable, just a very faint accent of lambic sourness. Man, these Chapeau products are weird, even in their style.
1.0 Ik eet graag aarbeien en er zijn ook goede bieren van, maar dit is er niet een van. Slecht.
3.1 A bit sour aroma. Light brown with almost no cap. Swet-sour taste with strong strawberry notes, meanwhile the full strawberry taste is hidden. Some bitter notes afterwards.
3.1 light sour fruit aroma, muddy color, cloudy, white foam, light sweetness, lightly sour, medium body, oily feel, soft carbonation, long strawerberry finish.
