Charles Wells / Dogfish Head DNA New World IPA

Charles Wells / Dogfish Head DNA New World IPA

Keg, can & bottle; Regular.

Also occasionally on cask.

DNA New World IPA is a perfect beer of two halves. We’ve combined the best of UK and American brewing to create a toasty, nutty, hoppy beer which brings a taste of US craft beer to British drinkers at a very respectable 4.5%.

More than just another American import!

This beer celebrates some of the world’s best brewing expertise coming together to create one exciting brew.

Dogfish Head, founded by Sam Calagione, is famous for its inimitable style and “extreme” beers.

At the centre of DNA is Dogfish’s signature 60 Minute IPA (so-called due to the length of time the beer spends in the boil with hops being continuously added). The Charles Wells team then add their ‘old world’ brewing expertise to the DNA to produce this seriously good beer!

We, at Charles Wells, are thrilled and privileged that Dogfish Head have chosen us as their UK partners.

3.5 couleur ambrée; petite mousse beige; arômes et goût maltés et fruités; finale moyennement amère
1.6 non ci siamo proprio, aroma pressoché inesistente, luppolo dimenticato, lievemente maltosa. Non la riberrò
3.2 Bottle at Beerville, Belgrade. Malty, amber brown, small cream. Dry malty aroma, no hops to be found. Nutty, smooth amber and biscuit. Bright carbonation. I don’t like it, but not terrible.
1.8 C’est pas bon / aucun intérêt / vain / savonneux / granuleux / robe laide / étiquette laide ... Qui plus est, rien n’est à proprement parler équilibré ... elle a fini dans l’évier ...
2.6 Can, crushed at home, 15/01/2016 Malty bitter. Hops are dying off. Head retention still good. Boring house yeast. Not what it was. Really changed since the first batch when it was a solid easy-drinking clean English old skool pale ale. Now it’s just a boring regional beer with really bland yeast and it’s sticky and it’s astringent. It’s not great.
3.9 330ml bottle. Tiny off-white head. Clear orange body. Citrus and honey. Nicely balanced on the tongue. Dry on the palate.
Luppolo latitante. Gusto nel complesso bilanciato ma mai esaltante. Corpo e carbonatazione medico -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
2.9 Dark orange colour, white head. Aroma of caramel, malts. Taste is light sweet, almost no bitterness. Light body, thin texture, average carbonation.
3.4 Bottle shared at home with Hajo. Bought at World of Drinks inside Rotterdam Markthal. Pours amber with bright orange hue. Sweet slightly roasted caramel malts, fruity fresh hops, oranges, lime, slight licorice. Fruity sweet with earthy bitterness. Body is thin, texture is oily and sandy. Quite nice but watery and hollow.
2.8 Bottle 330 ml from Bier-Bienne (CH). Bright amber with a short and fleeting head, low crackling. Aromas of malt, toffy, citrus, honey and herbs. The taste is soft, caramel-honey, fruity of date and some spices. Hops present really without excess, average grassy bitterness on stewed malt.
4.0 Big head. Darker colour. Hoppy aroma. Citrusy bitter flavour but a bit weak on the palate.
2.8 Bottle 33cl / Botella 33cl. @ Cervezorama 2.0, Madrid, España. A: Amber / Ambar. T/S: Hops, malt, sweet, watery / Lupulo, malta, dulce, aguado.
3.1 Clear and deep amber color with strogn caramel foam. Aromas of fresh whole hops, greens and grass with hints of citrus and exotic fruits although on the weak side. Palate, has light body and thin but smoky texture to it, does not slide down easely tends to stick on tongue like grass would and has this smokey roasted malt finish which is really unexpected. Taste is quite strange tastes smokey and watery, not much to it. Overall, confusing beer, looks and smells like IPA but does not taste like one, has this grassy smokey feel to it but also very watery and plain which is sad.
3.9 Bottle 0,33L. Clear copper color with small, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of grassy hops, herbs and ganja. Taste starts light bitter, very hoppy with moderate bitter finish. Easy drinking, light to medium bodied, dry texture and soft carbonation. It seems like very good combination of English IPA and American IPA. Nice summer beer!
3.5 Bottle. Amber color, off-white head. Sweetaroma. Hoppy flavor with burnt sugar and sweet malts. Medium body, medium carbonation. Nice for the ABV.
2.2 Pours copper with a huge foamy head. Weak aroma, it’s an even weaker taste. This is a poor beer
3.0 330 ml bottle. Bought in a Leclerc supermarché in Strasbourg. Nice ipa fruity smell, amber color with almost no head. somehow waterish taste, but nice anyway. A big meh for this beer.
3.1 On tap @ Budavári Sörfesztivál - Mostly clear amber colour, medium sized, persistent creamy off-white head. Aroma of caramel, breadcrust, biscuit and some herbal hops. Taste is sweet, caramel, biscuit, apple, peach, nuts, and moderate hop bitterness, grapefruit, tangerine. Medium body, soft carbonation, silky texture, easy hoppy finish. Nice, but not a big one.
3.0 Bottle. Caramel, biscuits, some red apple notes, herbal hops. Quite an amount of residual sweetness, balanced by a herbal bitterness. Kind of bitter-like beer. Far from spectacular, but ok all in all.
3.0 Bottle @home tasting General Election 2015 (rating backlog) Pours amber/orange with an off white head. Nose of toast but no marmalade, caramel, toffee and floral notes. Taste is bitter at first but then its gets sweet, i’m just not sure about this.
3.0 On tap at Audley. Nice amber body with hug head. Nose is malty and floral and hoppy. Taste is floral, nutty, enjoyable. Taste is bitter. Good stuff!
2.5 Aroma: Caramel, light hops. Weak taste with light bitterness. Very light bitter-caramel aftertaste. Frustrating beer.
2.7 I find this new I.P.A disappointing. You can taste the side of malt but it is weak and the hop is not existing. The colour is ok, the carbonation is average with a weak foam. It is more a kind of beer when you are thirsty in you garden during a hot summer.
3.2 At Craft & Draft. Aroma of maris malt and a little hop. Taste of bitter caramel, bitter hops and a little pine. Bit disappointing.
3.2 Bottle 0.33l at Samo Pivo Belgrade Serbia.13.08.2015.Pour it clear dark amber color with small white head.Aroma of sweet malty, caramel.Taste classic English IPA, dry on the end, some caramel, refreshing but I expected more.
3.2 Bottled. A clear, deep copper colour with a small head that was soon gone. Very piney aroma with some malt; fresh, but not terribly enticing. Piney hops dominate the flavours too. Very dry and bitter, especially towards the end. Clean and well balanced, but overall I wasn’t especially keen.
2.9 Bottle. Pours a clear pale amber colour with a fizzy white head. Aroma of caramel, slights nuts, subtle pine, grass and herbal hops. Taste is similar of caramel, slight nuts, subtle pine, a little orange, grass and earthy, herbal hops. Light bodied and moderate carbonation. A short, dry, earthy hop bitterness in the finish. Quite malty and earthy for an American pale ale. A very safe, bland beer overall.
