Chimay Brune / Bruin (Rouge / Red)

Chimay Brune / Bruin (Rouge / Red)

Bottle Conditioned - 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles.

Ingredients: Pilsner malt (French barley from Champagne); wheat starch or flour (10% - 15%); dextrose (5%); malt extract (0.1%); hop extract from German Hallertaur (aroma) & American Galena (bittering) hops. Yeast & liquid invert sugar added to the bottled beer.

Chimay Red is noted for its coppery colour which makes it particularly attractive.

Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance.

Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavour qualities of this beer very harmoniously.

This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

4.0 Enjoyed: Poured from a bottle into trapist glass. Appearance: Blurry brown colour with reddish reflection, creamy rich head. Aroma: Malt, hint of caramel, fruits, yeast, hops. Palate: Medium body, medium carbonation, creamy head. Taste: Roasted malt, sugar, yeast, fruits, gently bitter aftertaste. Overall impression: Very tasty, aromatic and drinkable; well-balanced; alcohol is not sensible (only/yet at the end of the glass).
3.7 Tap from Skaal Turku. Clear red with light nature white head. Red berries, a hint of juniper, leaves. Light body, wide palate, a bit sour.
5.0 330ml Bottles from Beer Sniffers (2022) and others, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2003, 2000. Hazy red-brown in colour with a huge white head of foam. It has a rich dried fruity flavour, plum and candi followed by a smooth, warming dried fruit, currant and plum finish. Excellent!
3.8 Reddish-brown color with light brown frothy head. Caramel, malt, spices aromas. Light bitterness and sweetness in taste. Average to full body. Light carbonated, with long fruity, bit alcoholic finish.
3.8 Draft at Flying Saucer. Dark reddish brown with creamy head. Belgian yeast aroma. Mildly spicy. Nice.
3.9 As all Chimay, timeless label design. Guaranteed quality over the years, no need for gimmickry... Big thick foamy head. Beautiful opaque orangy brown marmalade colour. Sweet, bready, yeasty nose, less strong than expected. Expected more punch but could be over chilled. Let's wait 10 mins. Nicely balanced but with sweet, no but also bitterish afters. Some boozy undertow. Citrus orange marmalade, hoppy bitterness, nice. Lovely creamy consistency. Soft mouthfeel, medium carb. Not noticeably 7%, not super flavourful but nice to taste.
3.7 Early rating from Beer Buddy app
3.9 Aroma : Malty toffee, a strong yeastiness that comes across like wet fermenting wheat & some light stone fruitiness. Taste : Medium bodied. Smooth texture. Gently bitter-sweet throughout. Flavours as aroma; strong malty toffee, light slightly tangy summer fruitiness with a yeasty/wheaty like background. Pleasantly unlike some beers of this high ABV there is no alcohol burn in the finish, stays smooth to the end. Very decent
3.8 Brown / copper colour. Aroma of stone fruit, malt. Taste is sweet, malty, caramel. Delicious.
Mármint a szénsavja.
3.5 Bottle. Hazy reddish-dark brown color, fine beige head. Sweet malty, red dried berry aroma. Medium sweet, low to medium bitter taste. Honey caramel malty aftertaste, slightly spicy esters. Full body, medium carbonation.
3.6 une bonne bière trappiste

3.6 Bottle from Belgium, cheers Matthias. Aroma is extremely rich. Sweet, chocolate malts like a doppelbock, some sourness like vinegar and omer ghinste. Murky brown with a lasting foam after inital yeasty spots. Taste is surprisingly light, heavy on raisins. Some liquorice. Less profound than the smell. A really nice brune, but thought it could be a little more interesting in taste. (4/1/22) ---- Bottle from Carrefour Express, Leuven. Not so rich aroma this time. Soft drinking double beer. With nice warmth at the end. Easy drinking. Kept at 3.6
Extremadamente bebible.
3.9 This one out of the bottle pairs quiet nicely with the chicken paprikash I made from scratch yesterday and heated up today.
3.8 Olor a caramelo y tostado , carbonatacion media alta, sabor a caramelo dulce , muchos matices . Muy bebible
3.7 Bottle. Geuninely stunned to find this unrated.Nose is earthy, yeasty, light fruit. Taste is yeast, bread, faint herbal hop note, touch of cola, dry earth, a little sweet fruit, stewed fruit finish. Perfectly serviceable.
5.0 Excellent depiction of the genre, repleted with tremendous notes of burlap and cloves.
4.0 Strongly hopped
3.6 Bevuta in bottiglia. Birra ambrata corposa e aromatica. Molto buona come tutte di questa casa.
3.5 Pours amber, medium head. Very high carbonation, medium body. Aroma malty with sweetness, honey. Taste similar, medium body. Stromg yeasty feeling. Good one to enjoy.
3.7 God.
3.9 330 mL bottle. Brown body and a little murky. Big bubbles. Smells of bubble gum, bread, and fruitiness. Tastes of bubble gum and fruity sweetness with a bit of breadiness behind it. Finishes with lots of yeast flavor and a hint of yeasty bitterness, but mostly sweet bubble gum yeast. Medium heavy with high carbonation. The yeast is very strong, but there's enough malt to keep the interesting.
