Chimay Triple (Blanche / White)

Chimay Triple (Blanche / White)

Chimay Tripel, with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast.

The beer’s flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma.

The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth.

This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz (beer-pages.com/protz/features/chimay.htm) and John White (www.whitebeertravels.co.uk/chimay.html)

4.2 It's been a while. I always preferred the Chimay Bleue until it went commercial but I saw this in Tesco and thought; why not, if only for old time's sake. Poured slowly to keep a moderate head, aroma of spices, coriander, wheat. Taste about the same with a terrific hoppy aftertaste, long and lingering. A true classic. I'll be back.
3.3 Mocno goryczkowe, niewiele słodkie, mocno gazowane, ale bardzo dobre. Choć nie jest tak komesowe
4.0 Bottle from my local off-licence ‘Wine Rack’. Pours a murky orange/peach colour with a huge thick creamy white head. Aromas of bananas and cloves, white bread, peppery spice, apricot and floral. Taste has more of the apricot, floral and peppery spice coming through with a nice hoppy bitterness on the finish. Full body with a soft fiz mouthfeel. More bitterness than i expect from a Tripel but still very nice. Excellent.
3.6 330ml bottle purchased from the Offie and drunk at home. Dark gold and clear with a large and quickly dissipating white head. Spicy, bready aroma with light notes of banana and ripe citrus peel. Medicinal bitterness cuts the sweet, yeasty taste for a rounded balanced finish. Full body with heavy carbonation. Really nice beer, it’s taken me ages to rate it for some reason.
3.8 Amber with decent small white head that stays. Spicy , yeasty aroma. Taste is fruity with spices . Some bitterness and decent finish.
3.3 Chimay triple Aroma is banana, wheat, coriander, belgian yeast 7 Light yellow golden colour with small head 4 Taste is wheat, banana, belgian yeast, heavy malts and slight alcohol 6 Thick oily mouthfeel with low carbonation 3 Okay 13 Tasted at delirium
3.5 [Bruxelles, Delirium Café] Aroma: Huge wheat, ripe banana, hoppy, floral and belgian yeast Appearance: Clear yellow-brown with a small fast disappearing white head Taste: Mildly sweet and moderatly bitter, herbal, hoppy, floral, alcohol and mild belgian yeast Mouthfeel: Smooth watery texture with moderate carbonation Overall: A bit too much alcohol, but nice nonetheless 😎
4.0 Bottle from Tescos. Amber pour with a white head. Nose is pear drops, white bread, banana, sultanas. Taste is exceedingly similar to the above with some sweet spice notes coming through. Oodles of spicy hop coming through in the close.
3.1 Mooie laag schuim lekkere smaak maar een beetje een bittere nasmaak.
4.0 Dark amber pour with a decent, lasting head; aromas of white bread/malt, toffee, caramel, some fruits (peaches, oranges, apricots). Tastes of caramel, orange marmalade, malt/white bread, yellow fruit, herbal/hoppy aftertaste. Very nice...
3.8 As always timeless labelling. Nice white. Opaque orange brew, glowing nicely. Nice foamy head, decent retention. Yeasty fruity nose. Nice crisp taste, rather bitter in fact, underlying yeasty flavours and booziness comes through. Aftertaste more dry and bitter though. Mouthfeel typical Chimay creamy and full, carb medium. Bit of a brain smasher I feel. After a Brune, I'm already reeling a little. Surprisingly bitter for a tripel!
3.9 2 inch white, billowing, creamy, thick head with very good retention, that leaves sticky lacing around the glass and forms a rocky, uneven surface as it does recede. Hazy golden amber with very active carbonation. Strong aroma; I can smell it while pouring. Bready, light fruit, and spice. Sweet-ish. The initial taste carries indistinct fruit - pear, perhaps, bread, floral, and peppery spice. A solid bitterness begins in the middle, along with some citrus, and continues into the finish and aftertaste. This is the most bitter of any tripel so far for me. The finish brings a bit of an earthy character. The level of bittering is in APA territory, which I was not expecting. In fact, the package of flavors, with the citrus, floral, and bitterness, is more APA than any of the other Belgian-style tripel ales I've had. It is very tasty, but certainly different from others of the style. While the aroma seemed to promise sweetness, the finish is quite dry. Mouth feel has a moderate body with the carbonation bubbles active on my tongue. Overall, a tasty beer, nothing out of balance, but a bit of an outlier in the company of the other Belgian tripels. It definitely brings more from the hops (citrus and bitterness) than do the others.
4.1 W aromacie miod, troche slodyczy / mead in aroma, some sweeteness / bardzo zlozony w smaku, jest I karmel I troche kwasowosci / very complex in taste, there is caramell some acidensess as well / goryczka nienachalna, krotka / bitterness vague, short / swietne piwo / a decent brew
4.4 Appearance: Cloudy amber (left yeast in bottom of bottle) with long lasting two finger white head. Aroma: Hops, brown sugar, lemongrass, cut flowers, vanilla, banana and cloves. Taste: Peppery, spices, lemongrass with a dry hoppy finish. High carb yet smooth mouthfeel Delicious now on my favourites list!
3.8 Nagy belga sörpótlás 2022. talán még ez volt az ami megfogott a csimajosok közül. volt szép lágy teste, mélységekben gazdag aromatika és mézes viszkozitás.
3.6 Bottle. Slightly hazy golden color, impressive fine white head. Moderate spicy, light fruity, grassy hoppy aroma. Medium sweet, high bitter taste. Fruity, caramel, slightly honey aftertaste. Full body, low carbonation.
4.1 うまい。味は甘さの後に苦味。ヴァイツェンのような小麦を炒ったような香り。アルコールは高め。

5.0 Bottle, Tokyo Yamaya. It’s performance wise it’s amazing. My fav packaged beer now at 330 yen per
4.5 Pours a cloudy, deep amber coloration with a large, creamy head. Smells of caramel malt, toffee, estery/hoppy fruit with notes of apricot, apple and citrus, as well as hints of estery spice. Taste is a perfect balance of caramel malt, toffee, estery fruit and spice, with notes of red apple, apricot, clove and cardamon, as well as some bitter, citrus hops, with notes of orange rind. Finishes bittersweet, with a light/medium bitterness and some toffee, citrus and estery fruit and spice lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium/rich body and medium carbonation. While I love Tripel Karmeliet, this has got to be my new favorite Tripel. The balance of malt, hops and yeast is just absolutely superb here, with some sweet caramel malt and toffee, bitter and citrussy hops, as well as fruity and spicy notes that complement each other incredibly well. I really like how prominent the hops are here, with some citrus notes and a good bitterness that prevents this from becoming too sweet against the rich caramel malt backdrop, while those fruity esters really stand out as well, with a good spiciness and great body and mouthfeel as well.
4.6 Lekkere hop smaak stevig
3.7 Hazy honungsgul med fluffigt megaskum. Frisk maltig doft. Smak med malt, svagt fruktig av citrus och russin (?), ljust bröd. Lätt och fint balanserad beska.
3.6 Draught at Aarhus Street Food Hazy amber with a frothy, long-lasting white head. Aroma is hoppy, slightly malty. Notes of citrus (lime?), warm spices, and a slight hint of banana. Taste starts slightly sweet, before rounding over in winy alcohol, ending in a very hoppy, bitter finish. Spicy notes. Texture is full, mostly oily, low to medium carbonation. 7-4-8-3-14
3.0 Amarga e com sabor a passas e mel. Alcoólica.
2.4 For real? First sip reveals... not a whole lot? Could I be that much of an American craft IPA-stout-whatever douchebag that the subtleties of this highly regarded ale is lost on me? I reserve judgement until finishing at least half... OK. 4/5ths gone. Yeah. Still... just... fine. That's it. Oh man, the Hype!
4.0 This is my go to Belgian ale as it is beautifully smooth and buttery and available in my local grocery store. It's great with food or on it's own. Doesnt seem to change flavour too much depending on what you eat with is rare with the stronger ales.
1.6 Opened the bottle and the aroma promised so much. The appearance was what you would expect, slightly hazy with a fine head but I have to say (and I'm sorry), the taste was fucking awful. I like a lot of Belgian triples (especially Westmalle, Karmeliet, St Bernardus and Reinart) but this one is definitely not for me. Too bitter and left my tongue feeling like it had been sandpapered.
3.0 Zoals de meeste tripels ,de typische smaak, veel liever grote blauwe broer
3.8 04.09.2021 Kolor złoty, wpadający w pomarańcz z delikatnym zmętnieniem. Piana biała, wysoka i bardzo trwała. Zbudowana z drobnych pęcherzyków, pozostawia sporo zdobień, jednak bez zdecydowanego krążkowania. Aromat słodowy, słodki z nutami przyprawowymi, drożdżowymi. Smak z wyraźną goryczką w kontrze do słodowej słodyczy. Pieprz, przyprawy i lekkie nuty owocowe stanowią kręgosłup w tym piwie. Wysycenie niestety wysokie, przeszkadza. Ciało średnie plus. Tekstura gładka. Posmak długi fenolowy, słodowy. 28.04.02023 Barwa pomarańczowo złota, intensywnie zmętniona. W płynie wyróżniają się drobinki drożdżowe. Piana średnio wysoka, bardzo trwała, na powierzchni płynu tworzy gęstą, drobno pęcherzykową zawiesinę, przepięknie oblepia goblet. Aromat mocny, wyraźny, intensywny, nuty słodowe, drożdżowe i przyjemna orzeźwiająca owocowość (brzoskwinia, morela, śliwka). Smak: słodowa słodycz i chmielowa goryczka pozostają w równowadze.
