Christoffel Bier

Christoffel Bier

Unfiltered bottle.

Ingredients: Water, Barely Malt, Hops, Yeast.

Christoffel Blond is a bottom fermented golden-coloured beer with a full body, a very balanced taste and a beautiful bitterness due to a generous addition of fresh hop during the brewing-process. The aroma is fruity and has a fresh taste with a pleasant, hoppy finish.

After the bankruptcy of the Christoffel brewery in early 2013, brewed at Proef in Lochristi

3.3 Bottle 33cl, a cloudy golden beer with good white creamy head, nose is a bit on exotic fruits and yeast. Aroma is on grain, crisp, floral and orange like hops, medium bitterness and sweetness, like the unfiltered side in pilsner.
3.4 Bottle courtesy of Deanso. Poured a crystal clear straw colour with a frothy white head and plenty of bubbles. The aroma is medicinal, alcohol malt. Rather like a malt liqour but without the alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet, light bitter with a big malt, yeast, aromatic hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with lively carbonation.
2.8 Solid pilsnener. Fairly bitter, especially for a pilsnener. Slightly grassy aroma, fuzzy.
3.7 33cl bottle, labeled as Christoffer Blond. Clear pale golden, with a tall, fine-grained white head with good retention. Smells like pilsner hops, honey, malt sugars and some generic hops. Bitter-sweet and as far away from a pilsener as I ever had, crisp and refreshing, with notes of bitter hops, honey, green hops and sugar. A bit spicy in the aftertaste. Very nice.
3.8 Nice floral aroma. Solid body with a slight bitterness at the end. Not bad for a pils
3.4 Draught. Hoppy, floral aroma, light body, hoppy floral flavour, with a bitter finish
3.6 Čapované v Beer Time Nitra. Príjemná chmeľová aróma s citrusovým nádychom, zlatá farba, biela pena. Plná chuť, na začiatok stredne sladová kvetinová chuť, koniec chmelený, horkosť s citrusmi. Výborné pivo.
3.6 0.33 l bottle from ’Van Bieren’ as ’St Christoffel Blond’ at 5.4% abv, best before October 2017 (so five months old I guess). Minimally hazy, straw yellow with a medium large, foamy, stable, white head. Fruity-grassy, slightly floral aroma of lemon peel, fresh cut grass and some grapefruit. Sweetish, already slightly bitter, fruity-floral, moderately grassy taste of lemon peel, grapefruit, some honey and straw, followed by medium long, dry-bitter and grassy finish. Thin to medium body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very fruity and refreshing, reveals again how nice unfiltered Lagers can be.
3.7 Aroma: Medium aroma of malts, caramel, corn syrup, yeast, fruit, grain, hops and citrus. Appearance: Turbid yellow/golden amber beer with a slight/medium white/off-white head. Taste/Palate: Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, corn syrup, yeast and fruit; ends slightly bitter and dry with grain, hops and citrus. Overall: This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. Amazing balance with all the flavours you would expect in a quality Pilsener. Could have benefited from some fruitier hops, but that is about it. The great appearance and palate are definitely the highlight.
3.7 Slightly hazy and yella. Lots of carbonation. Nice fresh wet hop aroma. Bitter piney hops. Shame they don’t just call it a pils, cause it really is a good one. Drying bitter finish with almost a rye maltiness to it. Long lasting. Probably the most bitter pils I’ve ever had, but not over the top. I preferred the old label, but at least the beer’s still good.
3.6 5 Dec 2015, bottle. brown. nose is sweet, bready, mildly toasty. med/thin and mildly fizzy. really dark chocolate, malty, meaty. ok.
3.5 Thuis, fles, gedeeld met Mrk. Hoppy kruidig blondje beetje milky. Backlog from 2015/08/01.
3.2 Flaske. Man anvender her - ligesom Vends Herred Årgangsbryg - friskplukket humle.
4.0 330 ml. bottle. BBF 10/07/2017. Clear oily golden, little white bubbles, small. Noise is oily, vegetable, corn with big floral hop profile, herbal, grains. Taste is sweet cereal, grains, honey, very oily, big floral & weed bitterness, weeds, strong bitterness, caramel, cornflakes,… Lingering hop profile. Complimentary sparkling cereal & grains body. Dry. Interesting, you need to get a bit into it. The best way I can describe this one is by saying that it is like pale lager but good. No flaws, rich, big hops but still comparable elements just none of the flaws or usual awful notes. Very big hops. Interesting.
3.8 Bottle from Sterk in Amsterdam. Pours hazy gold with a white head. Aroma of light stone fruit and mild, pale malt. Med body, but the carbonation level helps with that. The flavor is spicy, fresh stone fruit with some pale malt which provides adequate support for the fairly strong hop load. Granted it’s bottom fermented, but it drinks like Belgian Ale. Calling it California Common would seem a bit odd, but it does suggest a spicy Anchor Steam. Good stuff in any case. Earlier Rating: 6/3/2008 Total Score: 3.4 Tap at ‘t Arendsnest. Hazy orange gold color with a creamy white head. Light stone fruit aroma with a hint of citrus. Rather bitter and fruity flavor. Something of citrus rind. Finishes nicely bitter. Refreshing.
3.2 Gold appearance with white head and slight aroma. Light taste with a hint of fruity hops. No aftertaste. Very light and refreshing.
Buena carbonatacion y agradable textura. Merece.
3.8 330ml Bottle in Café De Spuyt, Amsterdam (€5.50): A very nice pilsner that went down quite nicely. The beer had an excellent balance with a solid fruity backing & plenty of flavours to keep you interested as well as remaining refreshing & easy to drink throughout. There was definitely more hops than I was expecting & the finish was quite a dry one but overall the beer was very good & well worth trying.
3.7 Appearance: Light hazy golden color with a fine white head. Ok lacing. Aroma: Caramel malty, citric, some yeast and mild herbal. Palate: Medium + body. Tad sweet and a fine bitterness. Average carbonation. Taste: Caramel malty, some yeast, mild spices and a bit citric hoppy. Overall impression: If all pilsner where like this….. Personal stats: Bottle from Bert’s Bierhuis in Utrecht, Netherlands
3.6 14-10-2018; bottle; at home (bought at an unknown location). The looks of the beer are fine. Not to special. The beer is very pale. The colour is golden yellow, but it really is pale. Crystal clear though, with loads of gas bubbles rising towards the top. On top of the beer they form a thick layer of frothy white foam. Foam retention is nice and quite long. The aroma's of the beer are nice. Not to strong, but nice. The malts are simple and just give some sweet notes. The hops however are very nice. They are stronger than in most pilsener. They are floral, and citric. Nice fruity notes, together with that soft, gentle floral aroma make the hops interesting and refined. Quite nice. Yeast gives some fruity esters. Quote nice. The taste of the beer is nice. Medium sweetness, medium bitterness, well balanced. Nothing more to be said about it really. The palate of the beer is nice. Medium body, smooth and medium carbonation. The finish contains some nice floral and bitter zesty hops. All in all, a nice beer. Especially for a Pilsener the beer is really good. Way more flavour and aromas than regular Pilseners. Really nicely done.
Nasmaak blijft bitter. Palate min1
4.2 Wahouuuuh!!! tremendous! Unfiltered and solid head. Pretty malty aroma with some yeast in it. There is a nice bitterness. Just excellent!!
3.6 The head is ok, the body blond, a bit cloudy. It smells malty, bottomfermented, dry, fresh, bit hoppy. The taste is yeasty-dry, hoppy, nice malty. Pretty good for a Pilsener!
3.1 Bottle 33cl. Hazy yellow with a white head. Yeasty nose and some buxus. A bit like a pilsner. Nice full body with a good portion of hops. Quite long bitter finish. Much better flavour than in the nose.
2.8 Bottle shared at a tasting in Dancing Camel Florentin. Thanks vipinvelp for the bottle! Hazy blond with white film. A little grainy, slightly caramel aroma, sweet with wet grain taste, rather light-bodied, faint malty finish.
3.4 BOTTLE 33 CL from Douberd. Look: hazy straw-yellow, beautiful white creamy head. Aroma: solid German flowery and lemony hops, some malt/honey sweetness. Taste: solid body (maybe to full for a pils - or is it?), pretty sweet with a strong aromatic bitterness and long very bitter finish. Some faint alcoholic/solvent notes showing through. Very good otherwise.
3.3 Barwa: złota, wyraźnie zamglona. Piana białą, drobno pęcherzykowa, gęsta i obfita.
