Church Brew Thunderhop IPA

Church Brew Thunderhop IPA

The ThunderHop I.P.A. has an intense bitterness, flavor and aroma. We chose to use two varieties of American hops in the brewing process. The color is copper to amber and the aroma is noticeably hoppy due to the use of Glaciers in the dry hop process. You will also pick up a complexity from fruit-like esters. The body is big and malty with some caramel sweetness.

3.6 Had this many times before, perhaps I have underrated it in my head cause this is pretty darn good.
4.1 On tap at the brewery. Pours an almost clear gold with a thin white head. Big pineapple and citrus on the nose, like an apricot fruit rollup straight out of a childhood memory soaked in orange juice. Medium bodied, soft malt and a bit of orange peel, citrus, earthy grapefruit. Slow earthy bitterness into the finish, lingering grapefruit and a hint of orange sweetness.
3.1 Bottle in Pittsburgh. Hazy gold white head. Odd nose, smells sweet. Mild flavor, hop bitterness.
3.3 Aroma is floral hops. Taste is floral hops with spices and a nice malt balance. Overall a really nice IPA.
3.7 Tap @ brewery. Hazy honey with cram head with decent retention and lacing. Smells peachy, piney, weather, and pithy. Grapefruit comes out in the flavor.
3.8 Of the 8 IPAs i had in my week in Pittsburgh this the best and most distinctive. Strong hop flavor but not overly harsh, barely malt flavor but you know its there to balance, Strong grapefuit, lemon and caramel aroma. Raspy finish.
3.0 Bread-like grain and malt. A bit of citrus, perhaps some cherry as well. Hops come on, very full, but not all that bitter. An IPA, but not a standout.
3.6 IPA enjoyed out of the growler straight from source to fridge for 2 hours to byob dinner table shared with homemade pizza pies. First notes are of fruit, melon, citrus and hop. Bitter all in the flavor. Finishes bitter, sweet from the caramel, super juicy and a little boozy.
3.7 amber color; fruity, citrusy hop aroma; lots of citrusy, piney hop flavor with fruit notes; dry, bitter finish
3.9 Pours medium amber color with a small white head. Aroma of pine and earthy notes and lots of malts. Flavor is earthly with some citrus bitnerness and a smooth finish. Medium carbonation and very drinkable.
3.4 On draft. Cooper color with fluffy one finger head. Tropical fruit aroma. Sweeter taste and a little earthy. Enjoyable.
2.9 Light amber colored body with a medium sized white head and soapy lacing. Assertive caramel malt, old piney/resinous hop notes. Medium to full bodied with gentle carbonation, a tad sweet without the necessary bitterness to remedy.
3.1 Sampler from the mixed flight of currently running brews. Overall this appeared and tasted to be weak. Definitely compromised on ingredients and body and taste. Why do so many brewpubs continue to cheat their customers with this hogwash?
3.3 On tap at the brewery. Pours amber colored with a small white head. Aroma of pine, some grass, caramel malts. Flavor follows the smell closely with light bitter, pine notes, caramel malts, light sweetness. Medium mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Not bad but not particularly impressed either.
3.4 bottle from artmcd. pours copper, thin head, cap leaves behind a oil slick lacing trail. pine, citrus. mild undertones of sweetness and malt provide base for quick bitterness. solid body.
3.5 Bottle. Pours a amber color with large white head. Aroma is malty, lots of piney hops. Taste is hoppy, piney, sweetness too, bitterness sticks around in the aftertaste.
3.6 Can thanks to beechner224. pours a nice golden color. Not much aroma. Just a lot of hop smell Taste is pretty good. Lots of hops. Bitter in the back end and it lingers. Coats the teeth. Overall not a bad beer.
2.9 On tap at the brewpub. Pours clear light amber with medium beige head. Aroma is light hops, medium body, low carbonation, and small bubble lacing. Taste is herbal hops and some pine.
3.7 Bottle. Clear ruby with a big off white head. Aroma is extremely dank with a touch of caramel malt. Taste mostly follows suit but adds some fruity notes. Rich slick palate and medium carbonation. This one is a pleasant surprise. Really nice hop bomb.
3.6 Nice IPA. Good piney aroma and good flavor that doesn't remind me of any other IPA.
2.8 Deep amber, almost a copper, colored pour. Small off-white head. Some lacing. Smells of hops and oranges and peaches. Some malt in the background. Slight butter. Taste is buttery up front followed by some malt and hops.
3.2 Pours a dark orange with minimal lacing. Hints of diacytel and an off mint like flavor.
3.5 Draft to Pint Glass. The nose is that of citrus and the color is a coppery amber. The flavor is initially sweet for an IPA and goes down nicely.
3.4 Pours a crystal clear copper golden color with a short off white head that disappears quickly. The aroma is more on the malty side, but not extraordinarily so. Some esters waft out of the glass, but those notes are sweetened by the maltiness. The mouthfeel is slick and filling with a fine carbonation and hop heat providing balance. The flavor is much more florally hoppy than the nose would suggest. More than adequate malt backbone to balance the moderately-aggressive hop character.
3.5 On tap at World Beer Festival in Cleveland. Solid hoppy pale ale, citrus, piney, very good.
3.1 Appearance: Garnet and coppers under a thin coppery film which swirls with thick edges. Nose: Grapefruit, pine, fern trees. Dried west coast hop cones. Sticky hop resins. Palate: Medium-light weight and brisk clean mouthfeel that finishes dry. Lemon and grapefruit skins – slick, oily, and zesty. Green grass along the sides. Final Thoughts: Church Brew Works brings the brewery back to the church by renovating a rundown church and turning it into a scenic brewery that puts out good beers. Their Thunderhop IPA is straightforward and tasty, a fine sessionable brew. (An original written work by Beer Ambassador, LLC. Plagiarism is not tolerated.)
3.4 Pours a reddish amber with a light head with decent lacing. Aroma of syrupy orange malt. Taste of rye and oranges finishing with a spicy bitter finish. Not bad. A sixer here or there.
3.6 Draft. Poured medium amber with a medium-sized off-white head. Aroma and flavor were quite hoppy: lots of pine, some grapefruit rind. Flavor also had some toffee, caramel, and mild fruity esters. Moderately malty. Medium mouthfeel.
3.3 Orange brown in color... Aroma of citrus hops... Flavor is decently balanced with citrus hop bitterness to match malt character... Solid ipa
4.1 Draft at the brewpub. Pours a clear copper color with a large tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of citrus and tropical hops and toffee malts. The taste matches. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness, well balanced. Very nice beer.
