3.4 Bottle shared at DLD 2013: Deep murky amber nearly brown with a fading head and not much lace. The aroma has notes of brown sugar, toffee, bitter liquorice, marzipan, fresh oak, grassy and herbal esters with a touch of pine and grapefruit. Faint sourness as it warmed. The taste is quite sweet and fairly boozy with a earthy pine note but not much bitterness. Much like the nose there appears to be some lactic sourness developing which I am sort of liking because it cuts some of lingering sweetness. The mouth feel is uber sticky and aggressively warming, slight metallic and tannic note as well. Methinks I would have enjoyed this more if a fresher sample but age has not mellowed this out at all it seems, so who knows?
3.6 Murky amber with a cream head. Nose is sweet, malts, caramel, and dough. Easy palate, chewy malts, bitter, sweet, sticky, bitter finish.
3.8 Bottle @ Kraddel’s TdG 2013 tasting, Antwerpen. Pours a cloudy nut brown body with a small off-white head. Nose is caramel, dark malty honey-syrupy tones, hints of smoke and toffee. Taste is creamy caramel and toffee tones, hints of toffee, alcohol and smoke. Creamy and full body, soft carbonation. Good stuff, and as heavy as 110K indeed.
3.6 (ill try again) sebletitje ( is that correct? ) was kind enough to share this with us at rampkrot, travlr was the guy to told us the great story behind the name. thanx both u guys ! :p pours amber/ brown. small ring of foam. smells like a barleywine, low carbo . BW-grainy taste, very sweet.
4.1 22/IV/13 - 750ml bottle @ Rampkrot (Deurne) - BB: n/a (2013-352) Thanks to Sebletitje for sharing the bottle! Cloudy dark red brown beer, small light beige head, unstable. Aroma: lots of dried fruits, sugary, some citrus, lots of caramel, brown sugar. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: some citrus, lots of caramel, sugary, dark chocolate. MF: mainly dark chocolate, caramel, bit sugary, yet not too sweet, vanilla, bourbon flavours. Man, this is pretty impressive!
3.6 75cl bottle courtesy of ibrew2or3, thanks Dave.
4.6 Courtesy of Sebletitje. 75 cl. bottle sampled. Murky woody darker brown, not too much beige head. Sweet thick caramel malts, pine, thick toffee, bitter hops, bitter light woody with leaves, bit gooey,… Bitter leaves, pine, bitter caramel and toffee goo taste, almost liquorish, bitter three bark, combined with almost molasses sweet, thick malts, lightly earthly,… Thick, near syrupy. Nice combination of thick malt goo and heavy bitter hops.

3.7 Bottle shared by b3shine. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy earthy & toasted malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations were exceeded.
3.4 750 ml bottle shared by DrSilverworm. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, caramel, citrus, some pine, wood, with some signs of this taking a turn downhill. I had this when it was fresh and it was different. Will update when I find the notes.
3.4 Skyview Tasting, 2/23/13. Brown beer. Sweet malt and fairly well hopped. Prominent alcohol flavor. Heavy palate, with some burn from the combination of hops and alcohol. Lightly sour.
3.6 750ml bottle shared with the group. Bottled May/5/11. Hazy dark amber/brown/reddish color. Nice thin beige/khaki head. Good dots of lace. Interesting malty nose, caramel, some dark fruit. Nice smooth kind of creamy texture. Bigger body. Nice sweet taste, not cloying, so it’s not too bad... Some vegetal flavor. Light smokiness. Little warmth in the finish, which I like.. Drinking pretty nice for how old it is. Good complexity.
3.3 750 ml bottle to snifter (thsnks DrSilverworm). Looks good; a cloudy amberish-brown with thin beige lacing. Smells sweet and BOOZY. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Solid, but boozy.
3.5 roasty, leaves, earthy, Farkamber, frothy, medium sweetness, full body, thick feel, long finish, coffee, chocolate,
3.7 From a 75 cl bottle shared at home. Pours almost black with a cream tan head. Malty aroma. Flavors of chocolate, licorice with a hop bite.
2.8 The beer pours a red color with a tan head. The aroma is full of red malt and dirt. The flavor is full of dirt and earth, as well as some toffee and sugary sweetness. I also get some pine from the hops and some alcohol. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. I am not a fan of red ales and this one was no exception.
3.2 750ml from JMFG for FFL payouts - thanks, Jay! Big viscous copper pour with lively carbonation and a raucous, puffy head. Nose of super sweet malts, and enough fruits to convey a somewhat disconcerting tartness. Taste is citrus and pine gone off just a bit, contributing to the moderately infected vibe. Hugely malty and sweet, but with the other flavors it leads to enough clashing that I couldn’t enjoy this one a whole lot.
3.6 February 23, 2013 bottle shared by Brian. Brown pour with limited head. Aroma and taste of malt, alcohol and hops.
3.7 Bottle at Bob’s - very interesting. Sweet nose, complex taste, malty and dark fruits abound. On the sweet side for sure.
3.4 Bomber. Murky reddish brown pour with a off white head. Very malty. Some boozy sweetness. Decent.
3.8 10th September 2011 Clear dark red-brown beer. Big pale tan head. Creamy malt nose. Smooth palate with mild fine carbonation. Creamy malt, fairly rich with a streak of dark toffee. Fresh orange hops underneath, not too bitter. Finishes semi dry with a little aniseed alcohol - pretty mild. Mildly bitter toffee and hop aftertaste. Smooth rich barleywine.
3.2 Bottle shared by drabmuh. Thanks Matt. The beer is chestnut brown with a thin beige head. The aroma offers some booze, malt, toffee, candy, a general sweetness. The flavor is sweet and boozy. Lingering notes of cotton candy, toffee. Some hop character adds a touch of bitterness to balance the brown sugar quality. Medium bodied with adequate carbonation. Worth a try. 2.9 On tap at ccb. Pours a golden red with a thick white head. Aroma of hops, citrus and pine big malt profile as well. Taste is sweet, hop bitterness does not put a dent in the sweetness. Drinks syrupy, like cough syrup. Not my favorite offering
4.1 750 ml bottle via trade with smith4498 (I think; this one sat for 1.5 years). Nice big aroma of sweetness - malt, dark fruits, slight alcohol, molasses, and caramel. pour is cloudy hazy mahogany. med. thickness on palate - niiice. Taste is lotta goodness - aroma plus hops with slight alcohol at end; impressive to put all this together! great beer!
3.4 (750ml bottle, courtesy of ericandersnavy) Pours a clear ruby body with a small cream head. Aroma of wood, vanilla, cocoa, and caramel. Flavor of wood, caramel, cocoa, citrus, pine, and grass.
3.5 750ml Bottle. Appearance : Slightly hazy amber with small foamy head. Aroma : Big sweet malt with big resinous hops. Rich peachy fruits. Taste : Big sweet caramel with piny resinous hops. Juicy hops. Overall : Interesting but too sweet. Hard to drink more than a few ounces of this. Nice flavors but overdone.
3.7 bottled from ericandersnavy, reddish pour with good body, fruitcake, chocolate and caramel notes almost mead like, nice beer
3.7 Snifter at Cigar City. Chunky opaque brown-black with a nice beige head. Mild carbonation, big specialty malt tones. Almost rugged, candy sugar tones. Deep sugar soaked rim, wood, cherry notes. Not really mind blowing, tastes like a strong Belgian Red or Brown. Lacks much subtlety, way too sugar forward. Still a nice beer at heart, pleasant enough to mellow out and sip at. Has some English Barleywine and Old Ale traits. Vanilla wood.
3.4 Bomber from nearby liquor store in Coral Gables. Pours murky ruby-amber, with sweet fruity aromas spilling off the nearly foamless pour right from the start. Amazingly rich smells of blueberry rolling off this thing, it’s almost more like a fruit juice than a beer, at least by the nose. Taste is initially quite bitter, too much, almost like a cranberry juice, and there is a medicinal edge that enters in on the late palate once the ABV makes itself known. Some off band-aid flavors as well. Very odd beer. Lots of burn in it, so the 10% is not only not disguised, it almost seems like it’s an undershot. Seems to mellow and even out a bit as it warms. I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt on taste, but for palate and overall, this is a bit of mess, especially based on how promisingly it started with the smell.
3.4 (750ml bottle thanks to Erica) clear caramel, ring of soapy white bubbles. Nose of caramel, honey, faded hops, creamy, funky. taste of caramel, strawberry, blueberry, cream, smooth around the edges.
