3.9 65 cl bottle (12% abv) @ Timo A. Bottled on 19.02.2019. Pours black color with a large beige head. Nice roasted coffee aroma, milky chocolate, cocoa, subtle spice notes, subtle hops, toasted malts. Flavor is bitter with roasted malts and coffee, faint spices, cocoa, mild vanilla notes, some licorice, milky chocolate. Alcohol comes through in the end, the sturdy body backs that up fairly well. Very good. 5525
3.8 65 cl bottle (12%) @ Timo A. Bottled 02/2019 Aroma has lots of mocha coffee. Flavour has licorice, mocha, cough medicine, saltiness and mild tobacco notes. A tad too medicine-like but good still.
4.4 Pitch black color, small, dark brown head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, raisins, roasted malt and slight molasses. Taste of coffee, roasted malt, licorice, raisins, cacao and brown sugar.
4.0 Beer tasting @ Havregatan 20200313. Bottle (650 ml) from Systembolaget. Roasted malty with coffee, chocolate and notes of vanilla, full body with an oily texture. The finish is dry and bitter.
4.1 Beer tasting @ Jorn69 13/3-20. Roasted malty with a lot of coffee beans/grounds and chocolate. Body is medium, the finish is dry and roasted with coffee beans/ grounds and chocolate.
4.0 Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours a dark colour beer with a smal head. Roasted malt with notes of chocolate, coffee, coffee beans and nuts. Dry finish.
4.5 3 finger mid brown head. No lacing. Absolutely pitch black beer. Aroma of vanilla ice cream, espresso, lightly peated malts, raisins, oats, charred oak and a clear but very round whisky note. Taste of the same with just the right balance. The finish is especially beautiful with this grainy, full & lightly acidic espresso note. Mouthfeel is thick while still retaining a dangerous drinkability. Complex, delivering every stage in a velvet-wrapped presentation to your mouth. Medium to medium-high bitterness. Medium-low to medium carbonation. Very sticky. Punchy but smooth still. Overall: Just amazing stuff. Nothing has really been worldclass lately but this just delivered on a divine level. Some US Impy's just hit on another level and are made with a level of craftsmanship we (unfortunately) don't often see here in Sweden. Again, amazing.
4.3 Black with a brown head - Dark roasted malt aroma with coffee - Dark malt body with a coffee flavour with some nice bitterness - The dark malt flavour with some coffee goes into the finish - This was real good
4.5 Outstanding impy. Huge coffee flavors but not bitter. Palate is one of the best.
4.6 Proefglas van 65cl-fles in Port Street Beer House te Manchester. U: Zwart met een bruine schuimkraag. G: Groene koffie, melkchocolade en wat vanille. S: Zoet met een lichte moutbitterheid. Zachte koffie, melkchocolade, wat hazelnoot en vanille. Alcoholwarmte. M: Volmondig met een lichte carbonatie. Sticky.
3.9 Pitch black coloured body with a deep oily glow of dark brown, and a thinnish very deep brown head on top, only a centimetre or so tall, but nice and layered. Deep aroma of pitted fruits, coffee (of course), alcohol, roasted malt, nuts, earth and a good deal of pure caramelised sugars with vanilla. Deep strong flavours of coffee, nuts and licorice dominate, with a lot of lactose chasing right behind and showing bunches of vanilla and grain near the end with the alcohol very strong, especially at the end. Aftertaste is robust, complex, earthy, nutty and generally full of alcohol, lactose, sugars and coffee - pungent and showing twelve percent. Overall, a nice beer throughout, but I wish I had a bottle of this that I could age for ~5 years or so, then I think it would do the trick of mellowing out the robust notes without sacrificing the body or complexity. I sampled this eight ounce pour on draught at Whole Foods in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 20-February-2020 for US$7,00 at the store.
4.3 Bottle from the now-closed Brewklopedia in Leicester. Dark, dark brown with a quickly dissipating brown head. Vanilla, espresso beans, toffee, dark chocolate, a touch of heavily peated whisky. Taste is sweet at first, followed by an earthy bitterness and light stone fruit characters among the vanilla and coffee. Gentle bourbon bitterness on the finish. Thick, oily body with little carbonation. Nothing short of amazing.
4.2 Very thick & heavy, but good. Nice coffee & vanilla blend. 12%
3.6 Bottle pour, deep black brown. Strong coffee aroma. Not getting the high rating that may be more for the name than the flavor. Thick, sweet, there is an odd metallic flavor to this. Bitter coffee notes, should be more complex than it is.
4.2 Black out, brown head. Thick and creamy in appearance and body. Wonderful coffee, crema, chocolate, vanilla, rich and sweet.
4.4 Tap at BeerTemple, Amsterdam, 29th January 2020. Pours thick and luxuriant. Aroma is liquorice, caramel and coffee. Taste is crazy good, bitter coffee, vanilla, salty liquorice, complex and layered, great one.
3.9 Creamy lightbrown good mostly lasting head. Black colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma.
4.0 Aromat intensywny, kawa, czekolada, dość wyraźnie paloność. W tle wanilia z kakao.
3.8 Aromat wyraźnie kawowy, melano, czekolada deserowa, wanilia, karmel i sporo alkoholu. Barwa czarna nieprzejrzysta. Piana jasno brązowa, drobno pęcherzykowa, średniej wielkości i podobnie trwała. Smak umiarkowanie słodki, wyraźnie palony, czekoladowy, kawowy, mega melano i alkohol. Goryczka palono-alkoholowa, podwyższona i nieco zbyt długa. Pełnia wysoka, wysycenie średnie i ostry palono-czekoladowy finisz z wyraźną nutą alkoholową rozgrzewającą przełyk. Nieco przytłacza.
4.3 Coffee, chocolate, molasses, cocoa, roasted malt, pitch, minimal dark brown head, massive coffee, espresso, roasted malt, cocoa, smooth, silky
4.3 Opaque black beer with a slight beige head. Medium/heavy aroma; taste starts heavy sweet and ends slightly bitter and dry. Vanilla, liquorice, chocolate, mocha, roasted malts and salt. 8/5/9/4
4.2 Bottle from Beer Republic shared. Pours black color with tan head. Aroma of coffee, vanilla, quite roasted malts, espresso, dark fruits, cocoa and alcohol. Rich tense taste, full body, dominated with coffee and roasted malts.
3.8 Keg at Summer Beer Thing, Manchester. Black with brown head. Very nutty taste, strong espresso, hints of fruit. Good stuff as always.
3.5 Geserveerd in sniffer.
4.1 65 cl. bottle shared with Marijn, Taeke, Robbert en Jascha @ Robbert. Black with a thin beige head. Coffee aroma with vanilla and chocolate. Medium bitter taste with a nice bitter finish. Although very well executed it's also a bit middle of the road, as far as imperial stouts with coffee, cacao nibs and vanilla beans can be middle of the road of course. Still a great beer though.
4.1 Bottle, 650 ml, courtesy of Miro B. Shared with him, Max and JFK10000. Black with beige head. Chocolate, malty, roasted, bitter finish. Some pepper. Sweetish, bitter finish. Medium bodied.
4.1 If you wonder. It was black in the glass. Nice beige head and a pleasant fine arom Not to sweet for a beer like this and a fine duration Creamy texture Espresso, dark malt, some roast and vanilla in the flavor No sticky alcohol coming up [Bottle as Caffè Americano Double Stout with Coffee and Vanilla – trade with ChrisOfstad]
4.3 Bottle, 12%. Color: Black, fast disappearring brown head. Aroma: Roasted malt, coffee, espresso, vanilla. Taste: Roasted malt, espresso, mocha, vanilla. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Medium sweet and above moderate to medium bitterness. Long lasting bittery espresso finish. Slightly boozy. Earthy. Full body, low carbonation. Bit sticky. Very nice, creamy coffee Stout.
4.3 0,75 litre Bottle from Vinmonopolet Lillehammer. Black with light brown head. Roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, really Good!
4.1 65cl bottle at home, bought at Just in Beer. Appearance: Jetblack with medium sized brown to beige head. Aroma: coffee, roasted malts, some vanilla. Taste: high sweet- and bitterness. Notes of coffee, coffee grounds, roasted malts and some vanilla. Palate: full bodied, sticky texture and soft to medium carbonation. Overall: good stuff. Not so complex though, because the coffee overpowers most other flavours. Solid brew.
