4.0 Tart wheat up front with notes of lemon and pepper. Some notes of ginger and vanilla in the middle and a finish of pear, pepper, lemon, vanilla, and a slightly woody note that may be enhanced by the suggestion on the label.
3.7 Sampled from bottle @ RBBSG II. Opaque orange color, small white head. Smell malts, wood, lemon. Taste lightly malts, lemon, even a touch of peach, sweetness, wood and a slight touch of alcohol. A bit fizzy carbonation, medium body.
3.6 75cl bottle courtesy of ibrew2or3.
4.4 Courtesy of Sebletitje. Thx! 75 cl. bottle sampled @ RBBSG II. Very murky orange with little head. Nose is very sweet fresh wood with big lemon, very sweet spices and some cinnamon. Taste is bitter lemon, bit wood, quite bitter spices, sugar, light herbs, sticky sweet caramel, thick malts. Lightly fizzy body. Less extreme and fascinatingly bizarre than the Spanish cedar version but works better as a beer for me. Quite sweet, interesting a nice. Another great beer from this wonderful brewery.
3.3 Bottle thanks to changeup45. I didn't used to enjoy saisons but recently I have really turned around in them. When I opened this one...holy gusher. It wouldn't stop. Very lively carbonation just like the cucumber saison. This one poured a hazy orange with a full white head. The aroma is that of a sour. I get a little citrus in the aroma but not much. The taste is an interesting balance of creamy sweetness and tartness. I'm not picking up much of the ginger or coriander. An interesting collaboration. I sure am going to be burping a bunch though.
3.4 Tart, refreshign saison, some tanginess, slight woodiness, pleanty of citrus.
3.2 Sample at CBC 2013. Hazy yellow colour with a small white head. Aroma and flavour of spice, lemon and wood.
3.5 Bottle shared by b3shine. Poured a hazy golden color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate herbs, wood and yeast aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet & sour flavor with a medium to heavy spice sweet finish of moderate to long duration. I would recommend this to a friend.
3.4 750 ml bottle shared by b3shine. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma was lemon citrus with almost a Pledge type note, caramel, grass, hints of dough and wood. The flavor has a sticky sweetness that reminded me of a couple of the 110K+OT beers (Imperial IPA), caramel, honey, lemon, grass, herbal and wood. Some mild bitterness and starts to dry at the finish.
3.7 Sample @ CBC. Nice head with good duration. Color is hazy golden. Aroma and taste are fruits, flowers, citrus, peppery notes, malt and hops.
3.4 750 ml bottle to snifter (shared by me with the group; thanks burg326). Looks good; a cloudy orange with off-white lacing. Smells solid; citrus and lemon wood. Tastes like it smells, but less robust, with an average mouthfeel. Not bad.
4.0 Bottle @ CBC. Pours hazy dark yellow with a small white head. Aroma of malt, yeast, grass, light spice, wood, lemon. Flavor of malt, yeast, spice, pepper, grass, light sweetness, wood, lemon. Medium body, lively carbonation, dry finish. The best of the 3 for me. 040513
3.6 Pours foggy yellow with low white head Aromas of lemons and wood... It has a mix of sour sweetness and bitterness. Well balanced but bit sticky
3.8 750ml bottle pours a hazy gold and orange with a large white head. Lemon and wood aroma. Orange lemon and a bit of a peppery spice.
3.4 Gusher. Nice orange color. A little dry but well carbonated. Some nice citrus/lemon flavors. Something slightly off though...could be better. Bottled in December 2011.
3.2 Bottle. Pours unclear amber with a creamy/frothy off-white medium head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, toffee, toasted malt and lemon. Taste is medium sweet and bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Finishes with caramel.
3.3 Botella. Hazy to cloudy deep amber colour, small white head. Sweet caramel toffee fruity sweet spiced aroma. Good mouthfeel. Sweet caramel spiced fruity flavour, medium bitterness. Bit dry.
3.5 Bottle. Unclear orange with a small light lacing white head. Aroma is over ripe peach, strawberry, light dry wood, toasted malt, light hay. Taste is medium sweet, light fat and light astringent. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Long peach finish.
3.7 Cloudy gold pour with a frothy white head. Fresh zesty lemon aroma. Spicy tart flavor with an acidic lemony tang. The sweetness is there in support.
3.7 why is it that when you wipe up dust its called dusting but when you wipe up a spill its not called spilling?... just something to think about.
3.4 bottle at home ... amber ... light haze ... white head... odd smokey lemon ... little fusty nose ... sharp zezty lemon with that off smokeyness in linger ... touches of lipton lemon iced tea ... little more bitter and definite off smokeyness
3.6 Bottle. Gusher. Cloudy golden with white head. Dusty, slightly pissy aroma, touch of alcohol, peppery. Taste is dusty, peppery, pineapple. Sweet and stick again. Nice
3.3 8th June 2012 Very hazy amber - gold beer, tidy white head. Semi crisp palate, fairly dry. Malt is somewhat tripel like but not as sweet. Touch of dry wood. Dry citrus with lemon peeping out, certainly not lemon dominant. Dry finish. Dry lemon aftertaste. Okay if over dry.
3.0 Bubbly, too carbed, sweet & yeasty. Ginger and lemon wood show their respective faces, exemplifying a level of maturity not present in the initial offering of this brew. Much better than last time.
2.2 750mL bottle, sent from LateStart (thanks Jordan), pours a hazy golden orange with a medium white head. Aroma of lemon, a little wood, some citrus, and a bit of acidity. Flavour brings out notes of lemon, rotting wood, some ginger, light acidity, and an off-putting vegetal character. The flavours are quite off, with the rotting wood and vegetal qualities dominating. Quite a mess – maybe it’s because The Bruery were involved.
3.2 From notes - Tulip pour of hazed golden yellow-orange. Nose is orange peel with noticeable spices. Flavor is lemon, zesty and spicy, coriander, nutmeg.. Full-medium body, but still just a little too much for me.
3.1 750 ml bottle courtesy of CraftBeerDesign (thanks Geoff) poured a cloudy gold with a lingering ring of offwhite foam. Aromas of straw, coriander, ginger, light orange zest, light wood and light yeast. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of straw, ginger, coriander , yeast and light orange zest with a crisp dry lingering ginger finish.
3.6 Light orange with a foamy head. Lacey.Less funky than the cedar, yet still a farmhouse taste. Some funk aroma. Smooth and mellow despite the lemon. Yeast significant. Undercarbonated.
4.1 Tasting three beers of the Dos Costas Oriente series, Cedar, Gapefruit and Lemon, courtesy of Sammy. Another gusher, but we were more prepared. More nuanced aromas. Flavours of citrus, lemon and spices. Some funk, with lemony aftertaste.
