Cigar City Good Gourd Imperial Pumpkin Ale

Cigar City Good Gourd Imperial Pumpkin Ale

This high-gravity gob of gourd-y goodness incorporates pumpkin in the mashing process and then gets wicked with the spices including Ceylon cinnamon, Jamaican all spice, Zanzibar cloves and nutmeg.

3.9 Burk. Lätt disig bärnstensfärgad med ett smutsvitt skum. Dofter av pepparkaka, karamell och malt. Smakinslag av pepparkaka, örter, karamell, muskot och pumpa. Medelstor kropp. Välkomponerade smaker. Gott.
3.3 How: Can. Where: Systembolaget. Appearance: Amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma: Malt, spices, caramel, cinnamon. Body: Medium body and carbonation. Flavour: Malt, spices, cinnamon, caramel, nutmeg.
4.2 One of the better pumpkin beers.Nice spice blend, heavy, like pie
3.8 Lukter pepperkaker. Lett tåkete rødbrun med beige skum. Middels fylde. Søt. Smaker lett brent karamell, julekrydder, anis, kanel, Ingefær og gresskar. Middels lang.
4.2 DATE: November 8, 2020... OCCASION: wrapping up a great four-day weekend with a beer I have hoped to taste for a while now--great to see Cigar City here up in Jersey... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter... a foreboding, brownish purple body that shows lively bubbles swelling into an uneven haze of off-white head--this pumpkin looks like it has more of a Halloween attitude than one of Thanksgiving... rich punch of cinnamon, nutmeg, sharp brown sugar, candied clove and all spice evoke a dessert-like aroma.... not much in the way of maltiness suggested by its aroma... first sip is rich, creamy, buzzing at the teeth and the throat, with a boozy finish that lingers warmly... in fact, it stays so long between sips, it seems like one long drink, commanding with a whiskey's confidence but drawing without heat or penalty.... what a beautiful experience this is--the cinnamon and nutmeg explode atop a brown ale's malty base, with clove and light citrus also in the mix... in fact, the late citrus makes this almost read as a whiskey with bitters... big, bold but accessible, I will look for this again next year, and appreciate having CC in Northeastern distribution--this works quite well as a holiday dessertif or a nightcap....
3.5 Can pour, deep amber color. Medium body, hints of pumpkin and nutmeg. Slight note of bourbon.
2.3 Mörkt bärnstensfärgad vätska med fingerstjockt skum. Doft av cognacfat och lite kaka. Smak av frukt som ersätts av en kraftig spritig ton. Värmande munkänsla.
4.7 0,355 l can from Stockholm Scandinavian Mall Systembolaget. Very good beer and suits well with autumn and sauna at home.
3.6 Burk systembolaget. Orangeaktig vätska. Söt doft av julkryddor, vanilj, sockerkaka och knäck. Samma i smak. Det här är verkligen pumpaöl för mig
2.6 Can from Systembolaget. Amber with a small head. Aroma and taste of "pepparkaka", cinnamon, nutmeg, malt and some caramel. Drinkable but not my favourite style.
3.6 Burk från systembolaget. Bärnstensfärgad öl med litet vitt skum. Maltig med fina toner av pumpa, kanel, vanilj och muskotnöt. Torr avslutning.
4.1 Can.Wow Dark amber colour with small head.Strong flavour of cinnamon and vanilla just slightly note of pumpkin but good nots of herbs.
3.8 Amber colored, small beige head. Aromas of cinnamon, ginger, caramel, marmalade, clover and dough. Taste of cinnamon, alcohol, cloves, brown sugar and dough.
3.9 12 oz can, poured clear dark orange brown with small beige head. Medium bodied. Cinnamon-forward pumpkin spice , pumpkin and caramel aroma. Well balanced taste is consistent with the aroma, with clove flavor more emphasized. Sweet malty spice finish, very pleasant.
4.0 best pumpkin brew i ever had. Malty and lightly hoppy, yes, i know it's Cigar City and then marvelous pumpkin pie. Vanilla,Honey and yes Pumpkin real pumpkin flavor. Spiced out with cinnamon and touch of clove balanced right for my palate. Frothy start and fuller head quickly fades to nice easy lightly thick aromatic brew with not a lot of alcohol at all to tell. Orange tinged ordinary looker.
3.2 With the caveat that you couldn’t drink it every day, this is a delicious pumpkin beer
3.4 Auburn with a fleeting crown. Huge pumpkin pie aroma. Heavy on the spice though—almost like a pumpkin Latte from Starbucks—sweet and full of spice. A touch artificial. Taste is sweet with a mild uptick of herbal bitterness at the end. Medium bodied. Overall, decent but nothing extraordinary. More spice than pumpkin.
3.5 Hazy orange pour with aroma of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and some pumpkin. Spice flavor with cinnamon and clove with some pumpkin sweetness. Pretty decent.
3.6 Pumpkin, caramel, allspice. Fairly clear copper, thin yellow head. Sweet allspice, pumpkin. Medium body, easy carbonation. Nice execution.
4.2 Nice sweet spicy smell. Reminds me of the orange spice tea, so does the flavor though. I can’t say I get much gourd/pumpkin, my only knock on this beer. I still enjoyed it, but it’s everything except pumpkin - IMO.
3.6 Pours light mahogany, small head. Lots of squash and carrot in this thing, holiday potpourri, cinnamon and nutmeg. pretty good.
3.8 On tap at Pizza Paradiso in Alexandria, VA. Translucent, amber-rust color with a small pale tan head and good lacing. Aroma of caramel, pumpkin and pumpkin spices. Aroma is much like that of a home-made pumpkin pie. Taste of pumpkin, caramel and pumpkin pie spices. The flavor is similar to, but much more robust than that of pumpkin pie. Medium/full body and medium/high carbonation wi a solid mouthfeel.
3.7 On tap at Ellyn's Tap & Grill in Glen Ellyn, IL. as a 5 oz. serving showing a clear, deep amber hue, with a decent layer of off white/light tan colored froth, and ribbons & spots over a band of clinging lace. The nose was a pleasant whiff of pumpkin, with more expressive spice hints as clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and some fruitiness as dried fruit & apple. Medium bodied, with fair carbonation, and noticeable booze, the taste was similar, adding some fruity & earthy bitterness to nicely balance out this very approachable, seasonable brew.
4.2 Draft at Birdsall House. Sweet and malty with the right level of spice and pumpkin flavor. Notes of caramel and brown bread. Definitely superior.
3.7 Large bottle picked up by blonderedhead in NYC on a work trip. Consumed with commonshawn in a snifter glass. Amber, rust color. Minimal head of an off white nature. Nose is big pumpkin pie spices...cloves, cinnamon but not to an artificial level. Taste is a very good representation of a pumpkin ale. Boozy element present. Warming spices...the aromatic characteristics keep up their end of the bargain. This is a subtle pumpkin leaning into its imperial name.
3.8 Big bottle with commonmac and highendtully. Copper mahogany with medium off white head. Pumpkin spice and alcohol nose. Boozy and pumpkin spice flavor. Rich and full bodied. Pretty good.
3.7 From a bomber, 2017 release. Pours a clear amber with an off white head. Aromas of pumpkin pie spice. Flavors are sweet pumpkin pie.
3.8 Had it back in 2013 at the brewery with Erica, Maggi, Lou. Murky brown-orange, minimal head, viscous/heavy body, cinnamon and pumpkin spices, not too spicy... very sweet aftertaste with caramel malt and creamy mouthfeel. Lou chugged an entire bottle the next morning before we left for the airport since he wasn't checking a bag. DAMN that guy is chill.
3.9 Bottle. Cloudy brown pour with a medium, foamy tan head. Aroma is caramel, pumpkin pie spices, pumpkin pie notes, and sweet malt. Taste is mild pumpkin pie and pumpkin pie spices with sweet malt, caramel, and soft candyish notes. Body is medium to medium-full with a moderate, dense carbonation. Mild stickiness to this as well. Ends with more pumpkin pie, spices, caramel, and sweet malt notes.
4.1 22 oz. bottle. Bottled on: 09/05/2018. Mine says 8.8% ABV. Pours a hazy rust color with a thick antique white head. The aroma features lots of pumpkin, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, allspice, vanilla, and some caramel. Like pumpkin pie in a bottle! Goes down full-bodied. Caramel and sweet pumpkin upfront taste-wise. Cola follows. Grains and the aforementioned spices finish things off. Vanilla and warming alcohol present throughout. Tasty stuff.
