Cigar City Jai Alai India Pale Ale

Cigar City Jai Alai India Pale Ale

Jai Alai India Pale Ale pays tribute to the original extreme sport. Jai Alai, a game native to the Basque region of Spain, is played on a court called a fronton. Jai Alai players attempt to catch a ball using a curved mitt, whilst the ball travels at speeds of up to 188 miles per hour! Proving they have a sense of humor the Spanish dub this game, with its ball traveling at race car speeds, """"the merry game."""" Tampa was once home to a busy Jai Alai fronton but sadly all that remains of Jai Alai in the Tampa Bay area is this India Pale Ale that we brew in tribute to the merry game.

The India Pale Ale style of beer has its roots in the strong ales sent from England to thirsty British troops in India during the 18th century. To survive the journey the beers needed more alcohol and more hops (which act as a natural preservative). This “big” brewing practice made India Pale Ale one of the first """"extreme beers"""" and a favorite among the Queens military men in India. Eventually it became a favorite style of the new crop of American brewers seeking more flavor and complexity than mass-market brewers were willing to offer.

3.5 Very juicy and fruity IPA. Indeed very - especially in aroma and flavor. And Mosaic alike hops in vanguard is just great but.. it kinda became not ipa for me. Medium to light bitterness, thou hoppy flavor is indeed intense. Just not sticks with my palate.
4.0 Orange peels. Tangerine. Grapefruit. Pithy. Floral. Medium-full bodied. Light alcohol warmth. Caramelly notes. Enjoyable.
4.2 Amber with a frothy to creamy head that lingers. Aroma a mix of orange peel, apples and caramel. Taste is bittersweet with with an emphasis on the bitter, finishes bitter with lingering resin. A rich, chewy body with plenty of caramel lingers underneath. Clean, fresh finish. Great balance. In terms of palate and taste, this is just about perfect. The aroma is also nice given this was canned last year. Would love to try it fresh.
4.1 This bottle is coming from Amstein, St-Légier. Opening it on yesterday, at home, Epalinges, in the kitchen due to a fresh weather. The body is orange, grey and troubled with a regular carbonation, white foam. It is a good and interesting ipa, subtle and well balanced. This one is smooth, creamy, malty, rather dry and mineral, fairly bitter, citrus, grapefruit with a note of pineapple. This one is really floral in the mouth, good job for this commercial beer.
4.0 Pours cloudy orangey amber with minimal white head. aroma is faint with some pine and citrus fruits. Plenty of flavour - bitter hoppy backbone with lots of sweet fruit in the mouth and into the finish. Tangerine, pine, orange, a little zestyness,
4.3 12oz can. Bright golden orange color with a thick white head. Intense aroma of citrus fruit, grapefruit, sweet sticky hops. Solid hop flavors of pine and citrus. Sweet and heavy, but balanced bitterness. Textbook example of the classic IPA. Outstanding.
3.6 Tap @ Køge havn w Friends/Chef & Boilermaker. Appearance: pours slightly hazy golden with ok off-white soapy head and lacing. aroma/taste: barley, bread, light caramel, citrus, grapefruit, light pine, light tropical fruit and grassy notes. palette: strong us hoppy aroma, average carbonation, medium body, medium to notable sweetness, balanced by a medium to notable bitterness, average to long duration, light dry finish and a watery texture. Overall: well balanced US IPA
3.9 #16 Beer Republic advent calendar. 355 ml can. Cloudy dark orange, big fluffy head. Loads of zesty citrussy notes, grapefruit, resin, tropical fruity, pine, honey, spicy hops, licorice. Intense hoppy bitterness, some sweetness. Full bodied, oily texture, soft carbonated, hoppy bitter finish. Great West Coast IPA!
3.7 Hoppy aroma of floral and light resin. Cloudy light orange color with a large white head. Mild bitter beginning that gets slightly stronger in the finish.
3.5 A surprisingly strong IPA, and the flavor isn’t too bad either. I drank one with a huge dinner and can still feel it.
4.2 Cigar City Jai Alai India Pale Ale 7.5%. Hazy amber, rich marmalade aroma, full bodied, caramel malt, candied citrus fruit, marmalade, complex flavours, zesty finish. Stunning Imperial IPA from Tampa, Florida 🇺🇸
4.5 One of the very best IPA’s- balanced citrus and hoppy flavour, no unpleasant aftertaste, perfect refreshment for a humid climate. My go to beer when in florida.
3.9 On tap at 100 pív. Pours gold with off-white head. Nice hoppy thing. Tropical fruits. Nice hoppy bitterness. Classic IPA. Goodie
3.8 Jeudi 1er juillet 2021.

3.5 Pours a caramel color. Nice two finger cloud like head. Good retention and good lacing. Excellent carbonation. Lots of stuff floating around in there. Aroma is pine, pine tar. Sort of soapy. Taste is pine, pretty bitter. Caramel. Blood orange. Can’t get over the soapy aroma. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied. Slick finish. Overall it’s pretty good. I can’t get over the soapy part. It’s strange. I like it okay. I would probably buy it again.
4.0 355ml can from Dunell's in Jersey. Pours amber with a dense white head. Aromas & tastes of tangerine, grapefruit, pine, caramel, vanilla & hops. Medium body. Long moderate bitter finish
3.6 4pk of small cans at the LCBO. Pours a huge frothy off-white head with some thick dirty lacing and has a pale orangey coloured appearance. Lively carbonation. Aromas of coconut, vanilla, yeast, some mild pine and grassy notes. Flavours are mostly some citrus and pine with the coconut sparingly in the mix, not too overpowering. Hints of caramel. Smooth and slick mouthfeel, a little bit creamy as well.
3.3 12 oz can poured into a pint glass. Part of a four state variety pack of IPAs. Cigar City Brewing wins awards. Now I know why. This is a very good beer. So try it yourself and don't be a douche!
3.2 Mild smell of hops. Opaque yellow colour, white head. Aroma of overripe fruit, citrus, some booziness. Flat carbon, soft palate. Somewhat viscous.
4.0 Darkish gold with lasting foam head. Full citrusy aroma. Hoppy taste with tangerine and grapefruit. Long hop finish
3.7 Off white foamy head. Cloudy amber colour. Aroma is hoppy with fruity (citrus and tangerine) and grass notes. Flavor is hoppy too with fruity (grapefruit and tangerine) with light caramel tones, ending in an hoppy finish. Light to medium bodied.
3.9 0,5l draft pour at Cafe Rooster. Hazy golden with a white head. Citrus, pine, something "dusty" that I cannot name. Some spiciness, hint of caramel. Nice one.
4.0 Great beer. Not too citrusy.
4.0 355ml can from somewhere or other, my first Florida beer. Pours dark slight cloudy gold, small white head, lovely retention. Aroma of grapefruit, citrus, pine, very nice if a little standard. Taste is a lovely array of different flavour notes however. It starts with fruits of grapefruit, citrus peel, orange juice, then pine and resin come in with a caramel malt background, finish is a mix of the above, quite tangy and bitter, mild spice, with a slight alcohol nudge on the way down. This may be old skool now but most IPAs don't have this level of complexity in truth. Its a very good beer.
3.5 Högt, glest skum. Doft med humle och citrus. Medelfyllig, ngt humlig,, citrus, hint av mango. Liten beska som växer i eftersmaken.
