Cigar City Marshal Zhukov's Imperial Stout - Vanilla Hazelnut

Cigar City Marshal Zhukov's Imperial Stout - Vanilla Hazelnut

This Russian Imperial Stout is dedicated to Georgy Zhukov, arguably one of the finest generals of World War II. Huge in body with strong flavors of espresso, chocolate and molasses, this unique iteration of Zhukov’s adds roasted hazelnuts and vanilla to impart even more complexity and depth of flavor to this massive, jet-black stout. In the immortal words of Marshal Zhukov himself, “Есть вещи в России, которые не являются, как они кажутся.”

Riktigt maffig IS åt det lite sötare hållet. Stor kropp, len och mjuk. Sötlakrits, fudge, Choklad, nutella, vanilj och hasselnötter. Smarrig.
4.0 A deep dark stout with a thin dark brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with light vanilla, light powdery character, alcohol warmth, light cinnamon, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with light nutty notes, light licorice, alcohol warmth, very nice and rich. On tap at total wine, on Dale Mabry.
4.5 15 December 2018. Black Beer Fest, Ieper. Cheers to Anke, Erwin & Ama Deke! Cloudy jet black; quickly thinning & completely disappearing beige head. Intense aroma of raisin, plum & red grape, bordering on port & sherry, milk chocolate, hazelnut paste, vanilla, peanut & chestnut, mocha, custard, cookie dough. Taste is medium malty sweet, very apparent vanilla cream & custard, lots of nuttiness too, peanut & hazelnut paste; medium roasted bitterness balances fondant & mocha, roasted nuts too, woody & fruity sour touch of blackcurrant, almost port- or red wine-like. Dryish, earthy hoppy finish, lingering wood, vanilla, fondant, warming port-like alcohol - am I getting some tannins? Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Rich, balanced, nowhere over the top, very 'luxurious'!
3.7 Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a glass. Black with small beige head. Aroma is vanilla, medium body, lower carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is vanilla, chocolate, and some hazelnut.
4.2 Flaska från Beergium. Riktigt maffig IS åt det lite sötare hållet. Stor kropp, len och mjuk. Sötlakrits, fudge, Choklad, nutella, vanilj och hasselnötter. Smarrig.
4.4 Bottle @Black Beer Fest Ieper. Dark headless pour. Powerful aroma, vanilla, cacao, sweet, complex. Full bodied, thick syrupy, sweet candy sugar, dark chocolate, slightly bitter roasted finish that end in a mellow gentle dry cacao finish. Great start of the festival!
3.8 Kawa, gorzka czekolada, melasa, w tle orzechy i całe szczęście odrobina wanilii.
Vanille, geroosterd, hazelnoot. Lekker! M: Volmondig, sticky en weinig carbonatie.
4.3 TJ shared this with the group. The hazelnut and vanilla is really smooth in the flavor. Great body great mouhfeel, not overly sweet. It shows a little bit of dark chocolate bitterness for balance. Wonderful imperial stout. About 5 oz. was the perfect amount.
4.2 Bomber from TJ - oily pitch black. i just smell whip cream and hazelnut. hmmm. very sweet. a huge departure from the last few beers in that the adjuncts are actually showing up the rest of the base beer. marshmallow, hazelnut, vanilla, coffee. tasty!

4.1 Dużo kawy i gorzkiej czekolady, z nienachalną nutą wanilii i orzechów.
3.2 750ml bottle. Heard stories about how bad this was and how it was dumped in certain markets ... poured a black color with a thin sized head. Nutty, hazelnuts, chocolate, and some dark fruits. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be , but still a bit of a mess.
4.1 Had in bottle at Mathallen in Oslo. Poured a dark thick with a nice caramel froth at top. On swirl, sticks to the sides a tad. Taste starts with a boozy sweetness that turns to caramel malt with vanilla notes. Tastes slightly spicy and warming. Finishes is mellow and boozy, with the sweetness mellowing nicely into a lasting espresso finish.
Merci Mr Zhukov!
4.2 Bottle at Cafe Sara, february 24th 2017. Black body with a dark brown head. Aroma is spicy with roast and dark chocolate, mild vanilla notes. Taste of strong coffee, hazelnut, vanilla, fruity yeast esters, ashes. Bittersweet roast and vanilla finish. Excellent.
3.9 Good notes of chocolate and vanilla drawn in alcohol, very intense, pitch black with a good brown head, full body, low carbonation, again vanilla, coffee and chocolate in huge quantity...a great base imperial stout.

3.8 Bottle @ Ulfborg tasting. Pours pitch black with a nutty brown head. Aroma of raosty coffee, burnt hazelnuts. Not much vanilla on the aroma. Taste is much more vanilla and hazelnutty. Sweet but yet charry. Chocolate, dark coffee beans. Medium to full body. Low to medium carbonation.
4.2 Bottle at Ulfborg Tasting. Aroma of roasted malt, molasses, chocolate, nutty, coffee, vanilla. Complex. Heavy sweet and moderate bitter with lingering roasted notes. Balanced. Full and creamy. A good one...
3.8 From Saveur Biere. In Teku glass. Watching X-Men Apocalypse. Alcoholic and chocolately. The vanilla and hazelnut notes are not very clear but probably provide its peculiar profile. Pleasant at first, but however it becomes too sweet and sticky in the long run
3.6 660ml bottle (thanks suurjuust). Pitch black color. Small size, brown head, stays. Sweet, roast, chocolate, vanilla, nutty in aroma. Sweet, coffee, oak, alcohol, caramel, alcohol, woody in taste. Heavy body. Tobacco and roast in aftertaste. Boozy stuff. Solid brew.
