Cisco Baileys Blonde Ale

Cisco Baileys Blonde Ale

Bailey’s Ale is a hoppy blond ale named after our happy blonde labrador. It’s made with a bit of malted wheat and Centennial hops for a refreshing citrusy finish. It’s unfiltered and bottle-conditioned for freshness. We hope you enjoy this beer.

2.9 Bottle. Honey orange malt and bitter grass aroma. Golden yellow color with small head. Lightly sweet orange malt and moderately bitter weedy hops flavor. Quinine aftertaste. A bit harsh.
2.8 Bottle. Yeasty malt and pineapple hops aroma. Hazy gold with a small white head. Bready malt and bitter herbal hops flavor. Medium body, flat carbonation. Despite all the hops, there was something rather bland about the flavor.
3.5 Purchased at Armanetti’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on a very nice Saturday while making Indian food. Appearance a slightly cloudy gold, yeasties floating near the bottom of the glass, thin bubbly white head. Aroma mostly of straw and ale yeast. Taste goes down smooth, lemony notes, wasn’t really expecting the world from this one, it’s a good beer for a nice Saturday afternoon.
2.4 I expect a Blonde to be on the lighter side leaning more toward a lager or pilsner in taste with an ale style body. This was far more hoppy than I was expecting - even hoppier than their pale ale. It was actually pretty bitter.
3.5 (22 oz. from Bootleggers) Hazy blonde with the Cisco signature instant huge overflowing head. Aroma initially has some Band Aid which goes away followed by bread and lemon-citrus. Mouthfeel light, smooth, refreshing. Flavor of bready light lemon-citrus with a hoppy bite and hint of licorice in the finish.
2.5 Pours a hazy deep golden color with a thick white head leaving some nice lacing. Aroma has some hops and wheat up front with some malt and grain in the back end. Flavor is a little more on the earthy side. I can pick up malts, centennials, wheat, and some bitter lemon zest. Leaves a bitter malt finish. Not sure, but I think this might be a skunked bottle.
2.4 Strong lemon floral citrus aroma with bubbly head that. Light haze amber. Bitter and sourness is strong on the middle of the tongue. Bitterness fades a little after you drink more, still over powering though. I’m finding this disappointing.
2.1 Bottle. This pours overly airily, with a head of big, pillowy foam going nowhere over a slowly emerging clear golden ale. The aroma is super-esthery, hinting at perhaps a minor flaw. Laden with an herbal edge, this is a light-bodied drink, but in the end I could’ve done with much less foam on this. (#4400, 12/11/20110)
3.2 12 ounce bottle at House for Beer, poured a bright yellow, with aromas of citrus hops, grapefruit, honey, and a touch of hemp. Flavor was a dry grassy flavor with some hops, and grapefruit. Aftertaste had a slight bitterness.
3.2 12oz bottle poured into snifter. Dark yellow color with a thick off white beige head. Aroma was full of lemon peel and slight citrus. Flavor was surprisingly hoppy and malty at the same time. Bitter finish but a nice drinking beer.
3.7 A big Blond Ale that really doesn’t taste like a Blond. Golden pour with a thick fluffy white head. Herbal and somewhat grassy in the aroma with pine and honeycomb, with some biscuity malt. The body is fairly full and creamy. Slick going down. Sweet and malty with a dry hoppy finish. Some lemon and wheat notes mix in nicely. This is pretty good stuff. It’s as hoppy, if not more, than some IPAs I’ve had but definitely shows plenty of the malted wheat leaving it on the refreshing side, despite it’s heft.
3.9 Light, malty citrus aroma, with some pleasant sweetness. Cloudy dark gold pour. Enjoyably sharp, with a bit of salty Nantucket sea breezes in it. Some pine resin in the flavor - quite hoppy without being offensive. A really good, full-flavored pale ale
3.5 Deep hazy gold in color with a good off-white head. Aroma is crisp and spicy. A nice crisp beer, with strong yeastiness and hints of spice with some lemon zest as well. Stronger than you initially think it will be.
3.6 Was first introduced to Cisco Brewers at the Boston Craft Beer festival (June 2011). A - Very clear deep gold body with lively bubbles. Head is quick to form and white with virtually no tint of other hues. Head breaks apart slowly leaving large lacing. Ar - Aroma is my weak sense but I can tell it’s much stronger on this beer than most others. Closest thing I pick up is grains (?) T - Strong but not overly grassy hops. Almost in IPA territory but with a lighter body. Was hoping for more like a Belgian strong blonde. D - I’m afraid I had the beer a little too warm and didn’t experience it properly. Will re-review at a future date.
3.4 12 ounce bottle purchased at Total Wine Pembroke Pines, FL for $2.99 Very good!
3.3 Bottle. Pours a golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty slightly spicy yeasty aroma. Fruity malty spicy yeasty flavor. Has a fruity malty yeasty caramel finish.
3.6 bottle at Nor Easter Beer Garden, Provincetown, MA. golden orange pour. sizable bitterness in the nose & flavor. Hoppy, wheaty. A slightlt more bitter Hop Sun. Orange & citrus zest notes. Nice
2.9 Pilsner malt saaz hops added at the beginning of boil. We all know what happens next. I found a chaser for water
3.7 Bomber from Vintage Cellar. Pours hazy amber gold with a creamy/foamy off-white head. Aroma is citric, almost like bergamot. Near med body. Firm carbonation. Flavor is bitter citrus, hint of perfume, and it seems a bit wheaty rather than caramel. For a golden ale it’s got a lot going for it: ABV, bitter, nice tang in the finish. Very good.
3.7 Probably the best blond ale I’ve had. Aroma was nice a full. Big hop spiciness with a little grain and light malt. Pour was a light cloudy gold with a one finger white head. Taste was very crisp, refreshing and hoppy. The light malt and bread notes are immediately flushed away by strong bitter and spicy hops. Nice carbonation makes this a great beer.
3.5 Bomber poured a clear gold with a lasting creamy white head. Aromas of toasted bread, straw and a hint of citrus. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of straw, toasted bread and a hint of spicy hops with a crisp dry finish.
2.5 Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, grapefruit/lemon), lightly yeasty (dough). Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Very little aroma, and fairly stark, acrid, and thin in the mouth. This is really 7.5%?? Seems more like 4.5.
2.7 12 oz. bottle in a shaker. Golden amber pour with a lot of frothy head. Sharp hop and apple aroma. Strong hoppy flavor. Not very well balanced. I don’t know if it’s the style or just this beer, but definitely not one of my favorites.
2.2 Beautiful golden pour w/a nice medium head and carbonation. However, the frontend dryness and bitter just didn’t work for me.
3.7 Nose of floral earthy hops, nice citrusy undertones as well. Dry and grainy, definitely light wheat and bread. Pours pale golden, nice head and decent lace. The flavor is dry with light bread, grain, wheat, citrus and floral bitterness. Light, but nice and hoppy, fresh and bitter. Dry and resiny. Good blonde.
2.8 High quality beer no doubt. First few sips the best - lots of flavor up front, hoppy finish but brief and crisp. After five sips, different story. Dry, bitter. Not exactly a blonde. But hearty, and goes the distance.
2.9 Bottle: in the aroma, lemony hops, lemon grass, kind of soapy, floor cleaning liquid, herbal, rose water and a bit of oranges, flavor wise, sharp bitterness, soap again, some wheaty notes, citrusy hops, short but strong aftertaste, not so good.
4.0 12 ounce bottle from the beer of the month club, poured into a long thin pilsner type glass. Cloudy yellow straw color with a thick foamy head that recedes quickly. Some light fruity aromas, citrusy and even a little tropical. Very different malty type flavor with a spicy hop profile that’s mostly grassy with a bit citrusy piney mix along with a very dry lingering finish. Pretty lite bodied and well carbonated. Somewhat easy to drink, not anything what I expected. Very big flavor profile that I found leaving myself wanting more.
2.0 Bottle from Cavie. Yellow pour with a white head. Aroma is caramel, sweet, bread, and a little hops. Taste is dry, a little fruity, grain, and astringent as hell.
2.7 Hazy golden color. Bubbly white. Aroma is mainly hops. Dusty. Flavor is dry hops that sting ever so slightly. Dry grainy finish. Meh.
