Cisco Indie Pale Ale

Cisco Indie Pale Ale

Finally an American-style IPA from us... This beautiful red-orange ale has a full malty body balanced by a fruity apricot/grapefruit nose. Mounds of dank Summit hops in the whirlpool and dry-hop additions provide a deliciously quenching finish to this East meets West-coast ale.

4.1 Poured from bottle. Pours a lite, almost American macro brewery lager. But don’t judge a book by its cover. This IPA will knock your socks off, heavily hopped with Summett hops. But can be a refreshing beverage during the warmer months, will drink again.
3.5 Pours a clear dark amber color with a medium frothy white head that diminishes gradually. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of citrus, piney hops and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of earthy hops, pine, grapefruit and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a fruity hops aftertaste. Decent overall.
3.7 Nice hoppy aroma and taste, cloudy amber color , a bit thin in the mouth. A good all-around IPA
3.2 Can @ SBWF 2014. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small longlasting off-white head. Has a fruity grapefruit hoppy aroma. Fruity piney hoppy caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty piney hoppy caramel finish.
2.8 Can@SBWF2014. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, earthy, floral, some nice bready malts along with mild caramel. Flavour is fruity, floral, some mild nectar, spices and mild grassiness. Also some mild maltiness to it. Somewhat balanced, but not really my thing this one.
3.5 From a bottle. Pours hazy copper with a fizzy off white head. Tastes nutty, like orange, malty, and tangy hops. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like orange, caramel, and smooth nutty hops.
3.0 Can at SBWF2014. Hazy yellow color, small white head. Grassy, sticky even harsh nose. Medium-bodied. Flowery hoppy, a bit sweetish flavor. Taste is better than the nose.
3.1 The aroma is okay. Definitely some citrus and floral hops, possibly a whiff of bready malt? Taste is nothing special. Mostly just hops that are not very well balanced. Nothing amazing
2.4 My first thought was "it’s like a razor blade to the tongue". Very sharp, but refreshing at the same time. A new twist on IPAs.
3.7 Bottle poured a hazy tarnished gold with a small lasting ivory head. Aromas of biscuit, earthiness, pine and light grapefruit. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of biscuit, earthiness, pine and light grapefruit with a crisp dry lingering bitter finish.
1.7 Can. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is dark amber. Aroma is lightly malty (caramel), lightly to moderately hoppy (apricot), with notes of diacetyl, sour fruit (kumquat, sour apple, tomato, etc.), lightly to moderately yeasty (dough). Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Off-smelling, dirty, and very sour. Undrinkable. Cisco continues to have problems with infections, obviously. Bummer.
3.7 Pours a clear amber brown with a foamy off white head. Aroma of caramel and grape. Taste is lightly sweet start to finish with a nice midpoint of hop bitterness that finishes with candied citrus notes.
4.2 Quite nice beer bordering on superb. Poured with a thick sudsy cream-colored head, some lace and a clear medium dark amber color. Aroma is malt, pine resin and a hint of weed. flavor is fairly dry but other than that everything else is well balanced which makes it easy to drink.
3.7 I thought this smelled excellent. Lots of piney hops with a weird old smell that I like. Unfortunately, the old smell also permeated into the flavor, as it just seemed a bit flat and alcohol-present. Bummer.
3.4 Bottle shared by sonnycheeba. Pours hazy dark amber with a medium, frothy off-white head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is moderate citrus, tropical and dank hops, biscuit malt, grassy notes and pear esters. Flavor is moderate hops and bitterness, supporting crisp biscuit malt, light fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.
3.3 Reviewed from notes. This one was poured into a pint glass and a tulip. There wasn’t any difference between the two. The appearance had a nice red-orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute and left some light glossy spider web lacing. The smell had a "fruity" apricot to grapefruit aroma with a nice bittering underneath of some light spicy hops. The taste had a nice citrusy to apricot-like flavoring coat my taste buds fairly nicely. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a fairly decent sessionable aspect about it. The carbonation seemed just a tad under for the IPA style, but honestly wasn’t too bad to me. Overall, for the most part, I say this was a good IPA worthy of having again.
2.8 Tap pour @ Cisco. Clean amber in glass. Slight lacing. Straight forward nose. Dank hops, faint lemon. Taste sticks with the aforementioned notes. Basic malt backing. Bitter on the finish. Decent carbonation. There are better IPAs on offer on site.
2.7 Bottle from sampler pack. Pours clear amber with creamy off-white head. Aroma is biscuit and cracker malts, floral notes, light fruits, and faint toast. Flavor is dry malt base, medium hop bitterness, and some grassiness; dry finish with a touch of lingering bitterness. Light/medium body and medium carbonation.
2.9 Bottle from a sampler. Pours a transparent amber with thin off white head. Aroma of hops and malts. Taste of bitterness and grasses.
2.8 @ Party Source / Bellevue KY --- Clear medium-dark amber, generous sudsy off-white head, puffs of lace. Taste is malt that moves into the palate carrying a load of citrus hops and sour apricot with it before adding the taste of Ry-Krisp crackers into the finish. Kind of a mess of a beer, sending odd tangents out in all directions. A little more order, please.
3.4 12oz can into glass. Pours a brown mash autumn orange, looks like October. Foam is full, large and dominant, looked nice with a vanilla creme color to it. Plenty of lacing. Aroma is dry hay grass lemon pepper hops, mineral water and rum citrus. Taste is bitter, dry melon, punchy grapefruit, weed, and bready malts with a hop kick at the end. Not a bad beer, drinks well at 6.5, high bitter aftertaste.
3.9 This was a darn good IPA at a reasonable price. It was recommended by the knowledgeable man at the beer store and I’m glad I tried it. It had a nice frothy head, plenty of hops and it was surrounded by a nice malty background. I will definitely drink this again. The beer expert at the store didn’t consider this a session IPA, but. I do. Very drinkable and the ABV isn’t over the top. See you tomorrow my new friend!
3.4 From a trade. Pours a cloudy copper color with an off-white head. Nose o citrus and some fruit. Medium body. Flavor is citrus on a caramel malts base. Light bitter finish. .
3.5 Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Aroma has some sweetness from the caramel malts and some bitterness from the citrus and floral hops. Flavor starts off malty with a hint of toastiness. Finishes only slightly bitter from the floral hops. Pretty thick on the palate as well.
2.5 Can. Not west coast in the least aside form being dry. Slight dank, harsh herbs. meh.
3.0 Pretty decent IPA. Aroma isn’t anything to write home about, typical citrus notes, etc. Citrus fruit nose as well with a medium bitter finish.
3.4 Bottle. Pours amber orange with an off white head. Fruity hops, moderate bitterness, and light sweet malty notes. Not bad, but very average.
3.5 12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured cloudy, unfiltered, reddish amber in color with a nice off white head that leaves a very decent lacing on the glass. Aroma of malts and fruit (apricot) are dominant but there is also some hop in there. Taste is sweet, malty and fruity nicely balanced with a slight bitterness from hops. Very well made and very enjoyable.
3.4 Pour is a hazy red with a small white head. Aroma is a oily hop with sweet malts. Flavor is more on the malty side. That’s not a bad thing as the malts are very earth and herbal. The malts overpower any hop presence but I’m guess a fresher sample would show them off more. This says American style IPA but this is way more an English style.
3.3 Pours a hazy amber with a smallish off-white head. More bitter than sweet, but a well-made, enjoyable beer.
