Cisco Sankaty Light Lager

Cisco Sankaty Light Lager

Ed. Note: Although this beer was originally an American Golden Ale, after a short period of time the brewer changed the yeast strain, and it is now a lager. This 126 calorie lager with wonderful balance and strong hop finish is unlike most light beers. Reminiscent of an IPA but smooth and easy to drink.

It is named after the famous lighthouse that has stood on a bluff on the south eastern side of Nantucket Island since 1849. Perched precariously 88 feet above the raging Atlantic Ocean, Sankaty Head Light is in danger of falling prey to beach erosion. The lighthouse is the most powerful in New England.

2.3 from old notes: Tastes light a bad or better Heineken. Either way I must hate this style. Super dank ripe fruit yuckness. Maybe just not in the mood. Bottle at tavern 23 in New York.
2.0 Pale and yellow and really light. Aroma is nice and head is thick. No other nice things to say.
2.2 Bottle at home. Pours a light yellow with a thin white head. Not much aroma or flavor. Bland.
3.0 From a bottle. Pours hazy light gold with a bubbly frothy white head. Tastes light and crisp, like grass and straw, mellow malt, light hop bitterness, musky, lightly floral. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like honey, musky, hay, and light hops.
3.4 12 ounce bottle from Beer Trappe. Light yellow lager with sweet corn and light hop profile. Drinkable.
3.7 resin, golden, clear, white foam, lightly bitter, light body, average carbonation,
0.8 After drinking hearty American lagers this reminded me of Budweiser. Disappointing.
3.1 Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pilsener glass. The appearance was a light yellow color with a decent transparency about it to allow a light carbonation seen rising in streams. There was a two finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some spider web lacing speckling the glass. The smell had a light sweet corn with a slight sweet cereal. The taste was mainly sweet through the corn and cereal, it gets a little bready in the flavor. On the palate, this one sat pretty light and came across pretty sessionable. The carbonation was there and good for its style and to me. Overall, I say this was a pretty good premium lager.
3.3 Bottle at a wedding. Clear pale gold. Aroma is corn and lemon. Crisp light lager taste. Very smooth and easy to drink. Not bad.
3.1 12 oz bottle pours golden with a white head. Aroma and taste is malts, grass and lemon.
4.0 Has a cereal lemon aroma. Yellow body with a fine foam head that laces the glass nicely. The body is a clear light amber with active carbonation. The has a mild yeast malt taste with a hint of lemon. Has a slightly heavy heavy feel but remains refreshing and on the light side.
2.4 Draft @ Cisco. Clean, pale gold in glass. Finger of head. Lacing all the way down. Corn chip nose. Hay and grass on taste. Medium to light body.
4.5 Alcohol, earthy, nuts, coffee, cooked vegetables, butterscotch, basement aromas, butterscotch, bubblegum
2.6 Bottle from sampler pack. Pours clear pale yellow with fizzy white head. Aroma is cereal and biscuit malts, lager yeast, light floral notes, and light citrus. Flavor is dry malts, light hop bitterness, faint toast, and some light grapefruit; dry finish. Light body and medium carbonation.
2.4 Bottle. Pours a pale transparent golden with a clingy layer of cream colored head. Aroma of malts, grass, and lemons. Taste is mostly just malts.
2.9 @ Party Source / Bellevue KY --- Clear light amber with a long-lasting frothy white head, bands of lace. It looks tasty. Taste is dry malt that adds slight lemongrass before becoming more hopped as it moves through the finish. Not a particularly memorable brew, but, hey, it’s 3.8%. Whaddya expect?
2.8 4 May 2014, bottle. light yellow, clear, some steady bubbles. nose is light lemon rind hops. thin body and fizzy. lemon rind and miild lager malt. ok
2.0 Bland with lots of carbonation and look of something worth more. its light golden color and frothy head doesn’t offer too much else because no malt nor hop anything.
2.5 Can. Pours a light golden color with a fair head. Aroma of citrus, light fruit, bit lemony and grain. taste of citrus, light lemon bit of malt sweetness and grain. Mild bitterness and a clean finish. light body, smooth and fairly bland. Goes best as a summer lawnmower beer.
2.9 355ml can. Pretty standard american craft lager swill, nothign distinct, easy-crushing.
3.4 Can @ home. Clear golden pour with a white head. Smells of lemony hops, some straw, and pale cracker malt. Hints of melon and sweet orange. Not bad. Fairly good cracker and biscuit malt on the palate. Light bitterness and astringency on the finish. Somewhat sweet. Decent citrus peel hops, mostly lemon zest. Not bad.
2.9 Bottle 12fl.oz. Clear light to medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is light moderate malty, pale malt. Flavour is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, pale malt, straw, light dusty. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130814]
2.1 Can poured into tulip thanks to Cisco rep who happened to be eating at Beachwood BBQ Seal Beach. Pours slightly hazy gold with thin white cap. Aroma is cereal grain and floral hop. Flavor is slightly more hoppy but is uninspired. Light bodied with a thin mouthfeel, crisp finish, and moderate to high carbonation. Overall, not memorable, even as a BMC replacement light beer.
1.8 12th October 2013 Bright clear gold beer with a small white head. Palate is minerally crisp. Unpleasant soapy flavours lead to bland malt. Whsiper of citrus. Yuk!
3.9 A light aroma. This is good. A bit of grassy malt, enough to give it some flavor. A nice smooth body and finish. A quite good pale lager.
2.4 ¾ pint bottle picked up at Bière Sans Frontières bottle bar at GBBF 2013. Hay and pale malts to the nose. Taste of dry noble hops, hints of almond. Fresh fruity ending, not much hops. Oily palate. Easy to drink. Accepted (hotel room, London 16.08.2013).
3.0 Poured a clear, pale golden color with a medium-small sized white head. Aroma was grassy notes, earthy hops. Flavor was mellow, drinkable, not offensive in the least, but nothing particularly special about it. A session-able beer to be sure
3.0 Pours light golden color mild aroma of yeast citrus. Malt and yeast flavors. Hint if hops on the finish. Overall pleasantly surprised.
3.2 Pours clear gold with a medium white head. Aroma is citrus and grass. Taste is sweet with mild bitters. Light bodied, smooth and easy to drink. A very solid lager that actually has taste.
3.6 Catching up on old reviews. Bottle from DeCiccos in Harrison, NY. Another enjoyable offering from one of my favorite breweries:)
