Cisco Summer of Lager

Cisco Summer of Lager

The Summer of Love was fun they say, but now we’re living in the SUMMER OF LAGER! "Lager" means "to wait a wicked long time until it’s ready." We brewed it in the fall, aged it all winter, then sampled it in the spring. Then again, and again, until finally we decided to share. Hope you like it.

3.6 12 oz. Can from craft 12 pack by distributer. Nice smell even taste. A bit if hop on a pils. Nice.
3.9 Can. Nose pils malt, lightly sweet with lemony, sunny citrus and grassy hops with a touch of sugar - very inviting. Pours transparent yellow with avg carb and a large rocky white head. Watery light body is sweet with very low bitterness (drier and bitterer in the finish), lemony citrus extremely juicy throughout, touch of bread by the end. Has a very little bit of maltiness for balance, everything’s fresh and clean. Soft, delicate, enormously attractive.
3.4 12 ounce can. Bright honey gold color. Big rocky white head. Grassy cereal malt nose with hints of lemon citrus hops. Flavor is dry and crisp with more grassy hops and bready malt. Tart lemon peel notes in mid taste. Some cardboard funkiness in finish.
4.0 Drank it straight out if the can. Light and very approachable. Tasted good after mowing the lawn, that’s for sure.
3.4 355ml can. Was expecting a "pale lager". Definitely mroe along the lines of a czech pils especially with the honey like malt character.
3.6 Aroma: Lightly honeyed malts with cereal; hops are more herbal and lightly lemony. Appearance: Royal gold, mostly transparent pour with a foamy white head that settles into a slightly sticky skin; visible carbonation is very minimal. Flavor: Herbal/ lemon character is most apparent with malts coming in a bit more midway; dries out thoroughly with some lingering semi-sweet malts. Palate: Full body, creamy texture, very soft carbonation, lingering finish. Overall: Thought this was pretty good; in the top 1% of Czech Pils? I have my doubts.
2.6 This is sort of pale ale-ish I guess. It does not really strike me as a traditional lager style at all. It is cloudy orange golden w/ a huge head and lots of sticky lace. It smells of nutty malts and fruity hops. This is a rather thick and full bodied beer w/ creamy carbonation, definitely heavy for the proclaimed style but pleasant enough. The hop character here is sort of dusty and earthy w/ a bit of resinous pine. This is not outright terrible but not at all what I was expecting.
3.4 Bottle from my sister’s trip to the US. Served in a lager glass, it is a crystal clear deep gold with a foamy off-white head. Bready light malts with a touch of lemon. A nice full bodied beer with lemon and bready light malts. A nice lager.
3.2 Bottle. Overall a good representative of the lager type, well balanced. Had this with lobster.
4.0 I poured a 12oz bottle into a pilsner glass. It was bottled on 4/2/14 and cost $2.99 ($0.25 per ounce). Appearance: Perfectly golden hue over a crystal clear body with plenty of carbonation visible. Pours to a small, bright white, frothy head which retains and laces very well. Smell: Grassy hops, hay, a hint of lemon peel or citrus character. Taste: We can’t get fresh Czech and German pilsners over here, so having an American take on the style that’s fresh and available is a nice alternative, like Cisco Summer of Lager for example. This is a no frills/by-the-book pilsner and it works because it is exactly what it’s supposed to be. A tasty beer of authentic all-malt base, some mineral character, and the hops aren’t skimped on, either. Up front there’s a light sweetness from the golden malts. Some notes of light bread, crackers, and honey. The Noble hops impart some earthy/herbal bitterness as well as a mild spicy flavor, especially through the middle. Additionally sweetness on the finish with a touch of caramel. I’m genuinely surprised and impressed by not only how good this beer is, but by how much I enjoyed it. Drinkability: Pale lagers and pilsners have their place in the beer world, especially in the summer, and as a seasonal, Cisco Summer of Lager does exactly what it’s supposed to do. The mouthfeel is thin, crisp, wet and refreshing with a clean aftertaste. It’s almost too easy to drink as I really like to savor the nuances here. At 5.5% ABV it’s just a tad heavier than I’d prefer, though it does seem quite efficient for its weight as there’s plenty of taste here. Extremely tempting to session.
3.1 Bottle (12oz): Pours clear golden. This is a nice lager, but not my favorite type.
3.7 Can. Really nice summer lager, a great day drinker (hope they say the same about me one day...) Pours clear amber with substantial white head. Bready malt comes through foremost on the nose while the subtle hop kick comes through on the back end. Smooth and relatively full-bodied. Quite nice.
3.7 transparent gold, thin white head, wispy white head good lacing. Grainy nose, tons of toast, strong bitterness. Flavor is buttered crust, tons of toasty grass bitterness mid before lightly milky finish, thin and sticky with a bone dry finish, lightly papery.
3.1 Bottle. Pours a tan color. Taste is crisp light and session able. Flavorful and fuityish for the summer
3.1 Very light and refreshing. Perfect summertime lager. Nice smooth with little aftertaste.
3.0 Draft pour @ Cisco. Clean, rich gold in glass. Limited head. No lacing. Lager nose with hints of floral hops. Some orange and crackers. Dry, medium body. Apricots offset the simple dough flavors on taste. Mild bitterness on finish.
3.6 can. golden with one finger head. what’s this? a lager with actual flavor? i think this likely the best lager i’ve ever had. medium body with solid crisp hops in the finish.
3.3 Poured from can. Good carbonation and impressive head. Excellent interpretation of a real lager with a broad malt backbone, slightly sweet and pleasant hop back bite. New go to staple.
4.0 Clear pale gold pour with a two finger whispy white head that fades slowly to a ring. The nose is of honeyed doughy pale malt, floral noble hops and a hint of Pilsner malt sulfur. The aroma is rounded and enticing, hinting at the maturity if this fine brew. The flavour is simple and mild, though in no way insipid. Spicy hops balance the appropriately bready, lightly cracker-like malts. Very little sulfur in the flavour. The palate is crisp and dry, allowing the drinker to enjoy with minimal time between sips. The finish is medium long and spicy. Cisco is killing it lately
3.6 Pours out a golden pissy yellow with a moderate off-white head. The head is quite pillowy and leaves bubbles all the way down the glass. Aroma better than many in the style, herbal and grassy German hops on top of a general beery aroma. Pleasing citrus flavor, specifically lemon. Great lager, at least around Boston you can find it pretty much everywhere. I’d put this above Sam Adams but below the German classics.
3.1 Bottle 12fl.oz. Clear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, hay, light caramel, light to moderate hoppy. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration, hay, malty, cardboard notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130814]
3.0 Uncomplicated and quite quaffable. It has a yellow/gold body with a steady stream of small bubbles that support a tall, sustained foamy head. Gobs of lace. The aroma and taste were much the same, grainy with a light sweetness and a soft grassy hopping. Nice warm weather drink.
1.7 14th October 2013 Almost clear gold beer with a small white head. Minerally crisp palate. Thin malt and horrible soapy floralness. Dry finish. God awful rubbish.
2.6 ¾ pint bottle bought from the foreign bottle bar (BSF) at the Great British Beer festival in August this year. Dense, frothy white head with a lasting layer. Spotty lacing. Grassy hops on the nose. Modest flavours of oily hops, lemon and earthy malts. Subdued, dry fruit bitter tail. Refreshing (at home, Tromsø 26.10.2013).
3.4 Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Bull Run - 12 oz bottle. Pours a sparkling medium golden with a fluffy snow white head that leaves a thick film of lacing. Aroma has some light grainy accents, some mown hay. Flavor is smooth and balanced with some grainy notes, some buttery accents, some sunflower seeds. Mouthfeel is crisp and refreshing. All around excellent - just not in any one single aspect.
2.9 Bottle. Light orange pour with a slight haze to it, and a small wispy white head. Light and clean, bread, crust, touch of hop on the nose. Kind of a laid back beer and a laid back style, but it seems to be pretty well made. I wouldn’t be buying 6-packs, but I wouldn’t turn one down hanging out on the lake either.
3.4 On tap at Bricks. Pours gold with a wispy white film. Aroma has some malt grain and hidden lemongrass. Tastes of lemongrass grainy malt and just a slight bit of bitterness. Palate is thin clean and dry.
2.1 Grassy lightly toasted malty start...finishes bitter hoppy. Good flavor..............
2.3 Pretty decent summer lager, on tap at the Happy Gnome. Just a little better than a run of the mill lager but nothing special. Small white head, typical light amber color and a bitter finish. Decent carbonation.
2.8 Bready malt aromas ans some slight nutty grassy aromas. White foamy light head and golden very slight orange body. Dry malts, some hop bitterness and bready metallic taste. Crisp and dry on the palate.
