Clown Shoes Brown Angel

Clown Shoes Brown Angel

Brown Angel comes at you with three levels. At the heart the beer is layer upon layer of pure, delicious malt. Columbus and Amarillo hops add an intense hop presence while a final layer of East Kent Goldings delivers a delicate floral finish. This is NOT your old school brown, but a rather sexy American interpretation.

4.0 Botella de @Vivalabirra, Oviedo 19/03/2016 Color marrón oscuro, sabor malta, notas caramelo, chocolate, cuerpo medio, muy rica.
3.4 Sampled at a festival. It has hard for a brown ale to get much better. Simple beer. Lots of malt flavor, lightly sweet but the flavor of malt and grain is more prominent. good palate on this beer.
3.8 Bomber into a pint glass. Pours mahogany, with a dense tan head that lasts. Good lacing. Nose is hops and malt, and the taste follows. Malt up front gives way to moderate hop bitterness. Not what you’d expect from a brown ale-hoppier than the norm. Pretty good, but not outstanding.
3.6 Deep dark brown color with a touch of burgundy, about an inch of tight tan bubbles that evaporate pretty quickly; piny aroma with some dark chocolate, pecan shell. The flavor is fairly hoppy with a touch of toastyness, a bit of mild chocolate sweetness. The carbonation’s a bit prickly, the mouthfeel’s just south of heavy. It’s delicious but not a typical brown at all. More like a malty pale ale.
3.6 Aroma is roasted malts, fig, clove and light tart. Taste is medium roasted makes with hints of caramel, toast, fig, and nuts. Finishes with light clove bitterness. Appearance is a dark amber with a medium pearl head that retains fairly well.
4.2 Buonissima interpretazione americana di brown Ale. Molto luppolata e abbastanza ruffiana. Non stanca mai. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
4.2 1 pint 6 fl oz (650ml) bottle from HK Brewcraft. My first double brown ale. Pours clear medium brown with thick brown head. Very hoppy with high ABV, but well balanced.
3.7 Bottle to pint glass Consummation: A spicy and very malty brew. Adjunct: A touch of skunk, bitter ending, long lasting creamy head.
3.4 Bottle from Spirit of Mt. Seymour, North Vancouver Brown color with medium sized head. Good dark malts, some chocolate, roasted nuts, correct bitterness, a bit breadish. Nice.
2.8 Just too hoppy. Not a big fan of overly hoppy beers. More of a malt guy. ---Rated via BeerBuddy for iPhone.
3.8 Dark brown with a huge white head. Aroma of malts and caramel. Smooth body, taste of caramel and dark malts, sweet at first than balanced by hop bitterness. Very good ale.
4.0 Rating #1165 - 10.07.2014 - Bottle from CBI, enjoyed in a water glass at the Super 8 in Saskatoon. Dark brown pour with a weak bubbly tan foam that disappears quickly. Aroma is strong roast malts, hint of nutty sweetness. Taste is bold roasty, light sweetness, dominant roast malt, well hopped character with a slightly bitter finish that is quite pleasant. Superb.
3.3 Deep brown pour with orange notes. Lightly roasty aroma, flavor of roast and chocolate.
3.6 Brown color with a light beige head with medium lasting and nice lacework. Aroma has notes of light caramel, hoppy notes and toffee. Flavor is hoppy, caramelish and toasted malts. Light bitterness in the final with medium duration.
3.5 Bottle. Pours a very dark amber with a creamy tan head with lace. Aroma of roasted malt, cocoa, dark chocolate, coffee and some dark fruits. Flavor is malty, coffee, caramel, dark chocolate, nuts, little light citrusly hops. Medium body, average to lively carbonation.
3.9 Pours brown with a reddish hue and a nice khaki/brown head. Head retention is ok. AROMA: malty, herbal/floral hops, spice, light peppercorn, dark stone fruit, brown sugar, roasty, nuts, slight citrus, coffee, chocolate bitterness, boozy, soy sauce and slight cinnamon. TASTE: malty, spice, hop spice, dark chocolate bitterness, brown sugar, soy sauce, light peppercorn, roasty, nuts, coffee, alcohol, earthy, smoke, slight citrus, spice, cinnamon, dark stone fruit, herbs, caramelized pineapple and molasses. AFTER TASTE: malty, herbal hops, spice , nuts and brown sugar with an oily buttery finish with a slight boozy/spice warmth.
3.6 Hoppy browns don’t always work but the balance of this one is nice. Chocolate and molasses are still out front with pine sap and grapefruit building in the finish.
3.2 22 oz. bottle, pours a reddish dark brown with a small white head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, a touch of dark fruits, and some oxidation. Flavour is similar, with bready malt, caramel sweetness, and toasted malt. Well-balanced and clean. Not overly intriguing, but it’s solid.
3.5 Bottle from Kihoskh, Copenhagen - dark brown pour with beige head. Toasty and roasted malty aroma and taste, medium sweet with some caramel, toffee, light cocoa, nuts, prominent hoppy presence throughout compared to a normal brown, but this works for me.
3.9 Not too many brewers get the brown+hops thing right. This is pretty decent. Still prefer straight brown as the mix never feels quite right. Pours dark brown with clingy tan foam. Nice heavy malt aroma mixed with some fruitiness. Taste gets a little wonky with some grapefruit bitter on top of the malt backbone. Finish is pretty smooth, though somewhat dry. Not bad.
3.2 Honestly would probably like this more if it was a straight forward brown, but this has a pretty interesting taste with its flowery bitter bite. Willing to try it again, and recommend other brown ale drinkers.
3.6 Yep, yep, I’m digging this hop notched brown. It does have a spruce and herby bite, but it is a welcome punctuation. Quite hop forward for a brown ale, but I do believe it works. Serving size 22oz bottle
3.3 Bottle at fynefest. Pours deep brown, nose is dull toffee, light roast, taste is dry, roasted, nutty, little fizzy.
4.0 From 650 ml bottle. Pours a clear mahogany brown with brick red highlights and a small but lasting tan head. Aromas of caramel, orange, flowers and a bit of chocolate. Taste starts out with raisins and baked apple before a substantial dark caramel and burnt orange bitterness sweeps in. Chocolate, coffee and flowers at the end. Full mouth feel and nicely balanced. Great orange aftertaste. Great stuff.
3.4 Bomber from Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours a deep brown with medium tan head. Aroma is citrus and nutty malts. Taste follows with hops shining through a light woodiness. Not what I would call a Brown Ale.
3.8 In bottiglia. aroma di frutta secca, mou, biscotto, nocciola. Al palato corpo rotondo, cremoso, sentori di nocciola, biscotto, cioccolato finale secco ed amaro, floreale ed erbaceo.
3.2 Bottle at home. Interesting beer. Pours dark brown with one finger of tan head. Aroma is malty, some roast, hoppy, very hoppy. Sort of an electrical tape aroma also. Flavor follows. Some dark chocolate, and brown sugar taste - molasses, also. Overall, decent, but not great.
3.1 Dark brown pour with small beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel and hops. Taste of roasted malts, caramel, hops and a slight nuttiness. Medium bodied, medium carbonation and a slightly dry hop finish. Very average at best.
3.8 Bottle from Beermoth, Manchester. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Aromas of prunes, raisins, light sourness in there and a little chocolate. Quite a nutty tang in the flavour with subtle nuances of caramel, licorice toffee and treacle. Good bitter-sweet balance. Dry, light bitter finish.
3.5 Linköping Beer Expo 2015. Dark brown with a medium white head. On the sweet side with light roasted malt, nuts, caramel and chocolate. Medium bitter and with a dryish finish.
