3.5 Good. Sweet and full bodied but not stupidly so. Loads of chocolate with a savoury spicy edge. Indeed really quite refined at the abv level.
3.5 Insanely smooth mouth feel. Large tan head on pouring. Some vanilla notes with a malty chocolate aftertaste. Could be a touch stronger with the flavours bit is still a very enjoyable beer.
4.0 12 fl oz can from the local supermarket. Appearance is an almost clear dark brown black, topped with a god 2 fingers of tan froth, which recedes gradually. Aroma is rich chocolates, vanilla and some coffee. Taste is sweet chocolates over roasted malts and coffee, and a spiciness which gives some heat but not much burn. Mouthfeel is full, oily slick in mouth, ABV well hidden amidst all the rich flavours. Very nice!
3.7 I like the smell and taste of vanilla, but there’s it is a little heavy on the roasting. So the palate isn’t as good as I would like. It is still worth drinking.
3.9 This is a heavy sipping beer. I actually was expecting slightly more based on the style and who is brewing. Still a great beer, just was hoping this would be in the elite. For 9%, the alcohol is not hidden that well. Deep roasty, malty flavors followed by some chili and spices...which I think somewhat drowns out the chocolate flavors. Maybe I'm just not a huge fan of chili pepper in my beer. Not something I would get again with so many other imperial darks to sample. Moving on to Vampire Slayer and Black Unicorn next.
4.8 A delicious chocolate stout with an interesting and complex mix of flavours. I think there was a hint of chillies in there and a delightful smooth texture whilst maintaining a notable bitterness at the back of the pallette. Basically don't just read about it, try it, as this is the best way to gain a full appreciation of this beer. One of my favourites.
3.6 Can from Beer52. Canned Nov 2018; BB Nov 2019; Drank Feb 2019 - 7% abv not 9% - Opaque black with a small tan head. Very malty; roasty malts, chocolate, coffee, caramel, vanilla. Spicy; chillies. Fruity; dark fruit notes. Semi-dry. Bittersweet roast chocolate malty chilli spicy throughout. Increasingly bitter into finish. Liked this. Decent. (2019-02)
4.2 330ml can from Beer52. Black with a tan head. Nice cocoa aroma, with roast malt and coffee notes. Super smooth and rich. Really good stuff.
3.7 Pours black from the can and has a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, smoked kippers and leather. The taste is chocolate, chilli and spices, with a hint of cinnamon. There is a strongly bitter finish. Good mouthfeel and long aftertaste. A good tasting beer. Recommended.
3.9 Really good, balanced roasty flavour with a good chocolate sweetness. It’s smooth, bitter and decadent stuff, looks great too, coffee brown and a thick tan head. Really lovely stuff.
3.5 Can from Beermoth, Manchester. Dark brown pour with a light tan head. Nose of chocolate, liquorice, lots of coffee. Flavours of coffee, chocolate, plum jam, liquorice. Good.
4.0 Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt. Medium body and quite decent carbonation for a stout. Taste is roasty, malty and bitter but well balanced. Notes of chocolate, vanilla, cola and very subtle cinnamon.
3.6 Black beer, thin head. Light spiciness with chocolate in the aroma. Taste has a little sharp chilli on the first taste when you take a mouthful but it doesn't dominate and ruin it, letting the chocolate and malt do their thing. Good rich body to it and a bit of everything hangs about for the finish. Really decent.
3.4 [12oz can from Beer52] A bloody black pour with a tight beige head; lactic chocolate aroma; sweet chocolate milkshake taste with a hint of chilli on the roof of the mouth; then a drier finish with some bitter chocolate.
3.5 Dark brown body with a cream colored khaki head. Aroma and flavor of chocolate, roast, slight pepper bite. Finishes slightly dry. I like the initial flavors but finishes a bit artificial. Overall a drinkable middle of the road impy stout.
3.3 Can pour. Almost black with a thick head. Aromas of molasses and chocolate. First sip is very smooth with a heavy body to this, silky and thick. Flavors of coffee, chocolate and char. There is a spice to this like a Mexican hot chocolate. They did a good job of preventing some of he bitterness that often comes with chocolate and black patent malts.
3.7 Black pour with a thin light tan head. Nice roasty cocoa aroma that’s a little earthy and dark. Big flavor, lots of roasty darkness, some cocoa, earthy bitterness and a lingering black malty booze depth. Pretty simple and standard.
3.5 Rami Rami is drinking a Chocolate Sombrero by Clown Shoes at Muzeum Azji i Pacyfiku Dodatki nie dominuja ale spoko sie je czuje, lekko pikantne, kakao, karmel, jakas palonosc, zboze, smiszna paleta. Smaczne.
3.8 Can from 161 beer place. Ugly Can. Pour is dark black brown with head that went away real quick. Body is full with cheap rip off of prairie bomb style. Less pepper but lots of cocoa and chocolate and malt. Ok.
3.7 12floz can, COD: 11.28.2017, pint glass. A two finger head on the pour quickly dissipates to nothing. The body is a dark brown with reddish hues. Vanilla, booze, and hints of cinnamon are apparent in the nose, and on the palate. Full-bodied, low carbonation, and moderately hot. It's kinda uneven, but it's still pretty good.
3.5 Can from casual pint. This was an odd beer. Plenty of chocolate and green chilies, hint of vanilla. It finishes kinda, I dunno, weird. Metallic or something.
3.6 Ghastly can sucks a point off an otherwise very impressive appearance rating. Stiff, medium khaki, spray insulation head on a used 10w-40 brew. Mocha coffee aroma, slight vanilla, slight spice, a little acidic. A great balance to the flavor - cocoa nibs, spice, roast, moderately sweet, baker's chocolate bitterness that lingers and grows during the session. Body tips heavy, silky mouthfeel, a little burn in the finish. Sturdy offering. ABC Liquors, Betton.
3.9 From a can to a glass. Pours a dark brown looks black in the glass with decent head that disappeared fast. Aroma is Milk chocolate and some dark fruits and a slight sweetness like bananas and a hint of ash. Taste is slightly metallic and all aromas detected in the sip. With some mild spice.Medium mouth feel. Its ok not bad. Drinks like a soda pop.
3.7 smooth and thick.chocolate and slick. been done before and i'll drink some more. A bit of heat and too little smoke. Some sweetness and nice full carbonated body. some malt and a bit of soul.
3.6 Can. Very dark brown with a very small tan head. Aroma was chocolate and spice. Taste was spicy with chocolate with hints of vanilla.
3.7 12 fl oz can @Cimmeria, Oviedo. 13-05-2018. Canned: 28-11-2017. In short: cocoa IStout. Did I enjoy it: yes. Pours quite dark with nice off white head. Mdoerate head retention, little lacing. Cocoa nose, some spicy. Medium body, average carbonation, slick texture. Taste follows the nose, lots of cocoa, chiles not so present, still little hot aftertaste. Ok.
3.7 Tomada de lata en el Kraken. Poco cuerpo para su estilo y grados. Picante bien envuelto, no excede ni afecta a los sabores. Buena. Pero esperaba más.
3.5 Pours dark black with a small tan ring of head. Aroma is molasses, vanilla and spice. Taste is boozy with bitter chocolate. Only a hint of cinnamon and spice. OK not great.
3.7 From a 355ml can on 5/5/2018. Pours a dark brown with a medium head. Has a modest light chocolate nose. The flavour is very much chocolate, with a bit of caramel and cinnamon. There's a mild chili kick as the moderate hops kick in, but it's by no means unwelcome or intrusive. The bitterness is a touch roasty, and balances everything quite nicely. Medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation. Rather easy drinking - would never pick it as 9%. A pretty solid, interesting, enjoyable, if unremarkable, impy.
4.0 Can from Brewtopia. Very dark dark brown but not quite black with small ring. Roasted dark chocolate vanilla and peppery aroma with a little booze and earthiness. Rich dark chocolate sweetness with vanilla cinnamon pepper and nicely subdued fruit. Medium light woody peppery cinnamon bitterness in boozy finish. Full body a little slicker than creamy with fine livley carbo to accentuate peppers. Somehow, against all odds it works. Excellent.
