Clown Shoes Clementine

Clown Shoes Clementine

Clementine is beer conceived in a dream, in the middle of a blistering beatdown of a day. We used Clementine, sweet orange peel, coriander, and summit hops to smack that mean day upside the head with a refreshing clown shoe.

3.6 Pours hazy yellow with a thick white head. Aroma of coriander. Taste has nutmeg, spice. Palate fades to light orange hints as well as coriander hints. Good!
3.6 Orangey gold pour, thin white head. Nose is wheat and citrus. Middle is bready up front with a semisweet clemantine jam spread on top, nice little yeasty bite, some herbal hops lurking. Finish is bright citrus, little bitterness. I like this.
3.5 12 oz can. Pours a cloudy orange with an off-white head. Big scents of yeast and wheat. Classic wheat flavors with malt sweetness balanced against Belgian yeastiness. Very nice and well made.
3.2 It pours golden and clear with a white head. Head retention is moderate. It has sweet notes in the aroma. It is quite citrusy with orange and some apple characteristics. There is some low levels on honey in the background and a bit of a flowery nature. There is a combination of sweetness and spiciness in the flavor. It has a bit of a peppery spicy takes with some citrus and orange mix in. There is also a bit of apple in the background flavors. It has some high carbonation with a mostly light mouthfeel. The spices are a bit more dominant in the finish. Overall, a light beer that has a combination of spicy elements and fruity esters that dominate the flavors.
3.3 (tap) hazy, bright yellow colour with a small white head; aroma of lilies, citrus; dryish flavour with a long, light bitter finish
3.4 First tried this in the 22 oz. bomber, but then found in the 12 oz. 4-packs. A little more affordable this way and can spread out better. Style is Blue Moon-ish, but better qualify, smoother mouthfeel and richer flavor. Has more of a "Belgian" feel. A bit hoppier than the White Ale norm, but adds to the flavor and character. Appearance a cloudy pale yellow with light orange hue. Liked the brown/darker Clown Shoes I've tried a little more...but this is a better than average White. Not sure I'll be revisiting, but would recommend to anyone that likes this style or sampling the Clown Shoes family.
3.4 On tap at The Barley House. Pours a light, slightly hazed yellow with a one finger white head. Citrus and wheat aroma. Light sweetness on the flavor with citrus, wheat and coriander spice. Medium bodied with a light bite. Nice.
3.6 12 oz can poured, picked up a little while back at Belmont Station. Not a whole lot of witbiers in my rating history, but this one sounded good for tonight. A slight haze to a bright golden pour. Oily active fizz head. Aroma leans towards a belgian ale, with plenty of spices and oranges. Carb is sharp, orange peel is slightly bitter. Spices blend well, and are bold in the finish. Refreshing taste throughout. Rarely am I in the mood for a brew like this one, but when I am, this is awesome.
3.4 Can pour into taster cup at Craft Brew Race Portland. Appearance is light brown/dark yellow, no discernible sparkle, small off-white head. Aroma is fruit, yeast. Taste is modestly strong fruit, lighter wheat. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thick, smooth texture, soft carbonation and sweet and a little wheat-y finish. Overall, decent but not earth-shattering and not as complex as you'd think.
3.7 canned. nice yellowish orange pour white fuz head. good balance of orange, wit, lemon and spice.
4.1 12 oz. can. Pour was hazy golden with a foamy off white head. Aroma of orange, coriander, metallic. Taste was sweet, spice, coriander, orange, orange candy. Nice.
4.5 From tercertiempocervezas. Can. In Teku glass. At lunch, with bacalao dorado + russian salad. Superb, without the artificial touch i find in many witbiers and with very natural and fresh clementine oranges and hoppyness
4.3 12oz can from Windsor Hy-Vee, in a Sam Smith pint glass. Crisp, fruity aromas of white bread, pineapple, peaches, pears, white grape juice and resiny hops. Pours a bright, clear goldenrod hue with almost two fingers of fluffy white head and beer-ad perfect carbonation. Assertively fruity from the first sip, more peachy than orangey in my opinion, moderating to a light crisp maltiness with a mellow hop bitterness moving in on the finish. Lively, light and crisp. Perfectly balanced and extremely drinkable with a relatively short finish. Excellent. Not a style I'm terribly fond of, but for me this one really nails the right balance of fruit and hops to satisfy. Now I know what to bring with me when I visit that friend who only drinks Leinenkugel's. Well done Clown Shoes!
3.1 Can from Sterk Amsterdam. Aroma is wheaty and yeasty with citrus, orange peel, coriander, spicy notes. Flavour is moderate sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. Pretty well-rounded Witbier.
2.5 Can. A- Coriander, spice, cloves. A- Orange color, cloudy liquid, white head. T- Yeasty, coriander, clove, spice, mild sweetness. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, spiced finish. O- Too much spice and not enough clementine. Okay, but not as refreshing or balanced as I wanted it to come across. Slightly off finish.
4.0 More herbaceous than expected however pleasant. Wicket length. A creamy and oily mouthfeel yet prominent in a deep citrus peel. Totes quaffable.
3.3 12 fl.oz. can. Pours a bright yellow gold with a white head. Aroma: citrus peel, mild coriander, straw, beyond mild banana and cloves. Pleasant aroma. Taste: citrus peel, coriander, cloves, mild banana and herbal flavours. Thin to medium bodied. Moderate to high carbonation. Mild sweetness followed by a herbal bitterness. This beer was ok. The can wasn't the freshest so it may be a lot better when fresh, but it was a bit thin and watery. Still quite pleasant though.
3.7 Can in Black Lodge Brewery. Pours golden and clear with a thick cream head. Nose is very wheaty. Taste is wheaty and a touch of citrus.
3.4 35,5cl Can @ La Tienda de la Cerveza, Madrid, Spain. Hazy golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma is wheat, grain, hints of citrus. Taste is wheat, citrus, fruits. Medium body, average carbonation.
3.6 Tight white head stayed on a hazy, highly carbonated, dark golden body. Peppery yeast & sweet citrus aroma. Medium bodied, smooth on the palate, tingly on the back & a cloying finish. Quite dull hopless tastes of.... Clementine, yeast, bitter pith baking soda & a sugary finish.
3.5 Despite it's name of Clementine, this Wit from Clown Shoes is rather subtle in terms of its fruitiness. Cloudy yellow pour. Grainy nose with touches of spice, citrus, and fruit peel. Clementine has a thick, milky feel. Flavor is spicy (pepper, clove) with some pleasant sweetness (banana, bubblegum). There's just a bit of juicy citrus flavor that presents itself at the middle-back of the mouth. I'm still getting introduced to Clown Shoes, but it definitely seems like they have a knack for adding subtle fruit flavors.
4.2 A very enjoyable Witbier with a darker color than previous ones. Notes of citrus, coriander and wheat come through in an enjoyable and easy drinking beer. More flavorful than several we have had.
3.8 Hazy golden yellow color with a bit of a dense head of white foam. The orange peel accentuates well with the coriander spice. Refreshing and light to medium bodied while a bit slick.
3.0 Hazy white colour with coriander and spices bubbling away on the top. A bit astringent and tart. Not really my style of beer but pretty good.
3.4 12 ounce can at home. Smells and tastes like it has oranges in this. Orange and hazy in color. Sweet. Light white head. Fuzzy sweet after bite that goes away quickly. Interesting beer that’s all right with me.
2.9 Pale golden yellow pour with thin foam but lots of carbonation. Light body. Good, strong citrus nose with a little spice and some malt. The orange comes out in the flavor with the cereal malt providing a mild background. The spice are subtle. It’s a refreshing summer beer, but perhaps a little more sweet than tart.
2.7 DOC: 5/12/17 2015 BJCP Category: 24A Witbier AROMA: Slightly faux orange character. Noticeably sweet, also soda-like. Minor spice presence. Faint wheat presence. No hops. 8/12 APPEARANCE: Orange hue; hazy body (7-9 SRM). Small off-white foam completely evaporates. 1/3 FLAVOR: Fairly strong, but seemingly faux orange flavor. Sweet but not cloying. Spice notes are far too tame except on the finish. Slight tartness and bready character in the background. Surprisingly strong, but brief bitterness. 11/20 MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body and carbonation. Feels undercarbonated; almost watery. Palette is way too weak for 6% ABV. Refreshing with a mostly clean aftertaste. 3/5 OVERALL IMPRESSION: Not authentic enough for the style; too faux. Easy to drink, but boring. 4/10 TOTAL SCORE: 27/50
3.5 Clear amber with a big white head. Aroma is oranges, yeast and malt. Taste is clementine, bread and yeast
3.7 Got it in the CAN. Hazy gold with fast fading head and the aroma of spices. Lots of spice flavors in this one. The coriander seems to stick out the most. Not bad at all. Guess it was worth the extra buck for the six pack, just wish it was six bottles and not CANs.
